A good friend of mine dropped off these beers for me to try. I'll let you know how I got on later. Oh dear I think my memory's going. Those bottles are still in my garage and totally untouched and I haven't joined that "Go dry in January" campaign either. I'd better drink them tonight before they go off.

Just returned from the pub where I tried a couple of glasses of this lovely beer. It's one I've certainly never tasted before but my reccomendation is............ It's worth hanging around for! Swinging Gibbet Copper coloured bitter with a fruity finish Recalls a macabre tale, which remains to this day another potent chapter in Jarrow's history. William Jobling was convicted of murdering South Tyneside Magistrate, Nicholas Fairless, although it was widely recognised that he was virtually a spectator at the scene. The sentence was that he be publicly executed and his body hung from a gibbet on Jarrow Slake. Swinging Gibbet offers a copper coloured, evenly balanced beer, with a good hop aroma and a fruity finish.

And Cider ThreadAs a refreshment after my Sunday morning lecture on Jethro Tull I give you Tutts Clump, award winning and very successful cider makers (if anyone was paying close attention you'll know that Tutts Clump is the village in Bradfield, Berkshire in the area that Jethro lived as a child) i61.images obliterated by tinypic/54gl86.jpg[/IMG] "real cider made by hand with apples from West Berkshire" i57.images obliterated by tinypic/zmi0oz.jpg[/IMG] review by a self confessed cider geek charlieharvey.org.uk/page/tutts_clump_cider_review/Ps sold in Waitrose (supermarket of rock stars) Caversham and probably Wiltshire.

Having my usual pre Sunday lunch drink and this week I'm consuming a new beer from the Badger brewery called 'Daring Diver' and I have to say it's a very nice smooth beer with a nice taste of hops. I've just read a review and it says it goes well with chicken pie. Fray Bentos, always a winner!

A nearby Village is holding a beer festival this weekend and I've had a sneaky look at some of the beers being served. I've been told on good authority that there's 4 more barrels on standby should they run out. I'll take these 2 barrels please

I'll take these 2 barrels please If these 2 barrels still have some beer left in after the weekend I'll bring them over to the Tull cave and we'll drink them dry. What bus do I catch?

Here's what I'll be drinking on Sunday July 26th Ramblin’ Man Fair Beers - Wychwood Hobgoblin BEER Link It sounds like a bad guy from Lord of the Rings, but don’t knock it. Those bad guys worked hard for a living and liked to kick back with the best Ruby ales you could get. And pubs in Mordor were few and far between…
Wychwood Hobgoblin and Hobgoblin Dark are traditionally craft brewed ales with flavours of Chocolate & Crystal malts and a blend of Styrian, Goldings & Fuggles hops to produce a full-bodied, Ruby beer. It’s about 5.2% and has a flavour described by beer connoisseurs as “delicious chocolate toffee malt flavour, balanced with a rounded moderate bitterness and an overall fruity, mischievous character”. We just like it because it’s a cracking ale and it’s great on a hot summer weekend when you’re watching legends of classic rock shredding their guitars.
The perfect festival beer? Hobgoblin is the perfect beer to drink with meat stews & Steak & Ale pies, Sausages & Mash, Burgers & BBQs; roasts; & char-grilled vegetables. Ideal for BBQs, camping and rock festivals. It’s going to be in our bars at the Ramblin’ Man Fair, along with dozens of the best craft beers the UK has to offer.
Come, eat, drink, rock… get a tan. Tickets are going fast so get yours here!

Is that a muffin top beer?? From The Daily Mail ... BEER Link Good reason to go for a pint tonight: Beer alone WON'T make you gain weight and can even protect your heart and bones The 'beer belly' is a myth: There is no evidence beer drinking is associated with weight gain, nutritionists say A review of studies found 2-3 units of beer a day (around one pint) lowers the risk of heart disease and stroke. The high silicon levels in beer could also reduce the risk of brittle bones and keep hair, nails and skin healthy.
A pint of beer a day won’t make you gain weight - and it could even protect your heart and bones. A paunch is the result of excess calories being consumed, regardless of whether they are from beer, wine or food, nutritionists say.
In fact, she said that in many instances, beer has a relatively lower calorie value compared to other alcoholic drinks as well as a variety of everyday food items such as a banana, a bag of crisps or a cappuccino.
Challenging the label 'beer belly', she said: 'Moderate beer consumption does not lead to weight gain or abdominal fatness and the perception that drinking beer results in a beer belly is not supported by the scientific evidence to date.'
She says that obviously, if drunk in huge quantities, beer will cause weight gain - but so would any type of alcohol or excessive food intake.

Just back from the pub where the Memsaab treated me to a couple of pints of this wonderful beer. I recommend this hoppy brew with a hint of herbs to all Tull fans who are also real ale lovers.

You'll have to find a copy of this album by Don Shepherd, issued back in 1975. He was well known on the UK folk circuit back then and I probably have a copy in the folk music box in the loft but no means of playing it at the present time. From memory, a good UK folk album.

It's almost TULL-O-WEEN and time to choose a Pumpkin Ale A Guide to the Best and Worst Pumpkin Beers BEER LINK 1. Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin Ale City: Easton, Penn. ABV: 8% Tastes like: Pumpkin Bread Pumpkin flavor: High Spiciness: High Perfect for: Every day in October The verdict:: This is what a pumpkin beer should be. It tastes unmistakably pumpkin-y while still very much tasting like beer. The label lists cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom and cloves, but no single spice throws it off balance. This is what a pumpkin beer should aspire to be.

It is with great sadness to write this post on a beer I do not recommend. It's beer that tastes of tea. I would like to advise you either drink beer or a cup of tea but not together.
