Jethro Tull's music was used by at least one other UK TV programme other than Coronach/Blood of the British. What was the programme's name? What was the piece of music used as the programme's theme? What year was it? Years ago - probably about 1993 - an old friend of mine told me that he had heard an edit from Rocks on the Road on a snooker programme...I never really believed it - at the time I thought he had imagined it or made it up....so I don't think that's it....crumbs on the snooker table and a million other little things to spoil my day, eh? Absolutely no idea! This is news to me. btw, I am in the process of moving house at the moment and at the weekend I stumbled upon my collection of old Radio Times. I found the Radio Times issue related to the Madison Square Gardens concert - there is a write-up and the tv listing. I'll post it on the forum in a few days - just have to re-install drivers for the scanner first. Look forward to that Storm and good luck with the house move don't drop anything!

Thanks nonrabbit.
I'm not so concerned about dropping things as I am about pulling my back out again and enduring another 6 weeks of sciatica hell like I did in the Spring. Well, I would only have myself to blame - the physiotherapist I saw recommended a ton of exercises for me to do which, of course, I have completely failed to do.
I'm intrigued as to what this UK TV show was....
Fingers crossed I'll be able to get the Radio Times scans posted soonish. The old Radio Times are great - tv and radio was so much simpler in those days when you could count the tv channels on one hand (and change them with one hand as well at the tv - instead of juggling 10 different remote controls!). The quality of the writing was better as well I think. Even the letters pages had a lot more content.

OK, here's the answer: What was the programme's name? MAINSTREAM, a BBC TV Arts Magazine programme, with news, opinion and some performances. It was a short lived programme and two of the presenters were Joan Bakewell and Bruce Parker. One of the producers was Tony Palmer who made the 1975/76 documentary “All You Need Is Love” amongst many other films and documentaries. See www.tonypalmer.org/Tony_Palmer_films.htmWhat was the piece of music used as the programme's theme? KING HENRY’S MADRIGAL which was recorded for the Home EP. What year was it? 1979

Which unreleased Tull song forms a part of the melody to this released track by another artist The lyrics posted below will give a clue to the artist and the name of the released song
Clouds crush the setting sun The sky is darkening grey Restless whispering The summer's blown away Bleak deserted arbours That speak of absent friends God forsaken wasteland In time all friendship ends
Flame sears the sullen air Scorching my land Yonder swoops the black crow To the wind's command Your body is warm But your brain is cold Leaving me lonely Only emptiness to hold
The spine of love is snapped There is nothing to be said But the hollow in my belly Sends an echo through my head I ache to see you To laugh with you again But the voice that once caressed me Is filled with disdain
Like a hurricane you came And shook my innocence You woke me in every sense And I ran bemused and excited, Curious and delighted But I could not hold you, Like the wind you moved on I stood rooted like a fool Waiting for the sun
The spine of love is snapped There is nothing to be said But the hollow in my belly Sends an echo through my head Your body is warm But your brain is cold Leaving me lonely Only emptiness to hold

What's special about the Winter Gardens in Penzance? Matin Barre's first gig with Tull was at that venue, 30th December 1968 if my grey cells are not playing tricks with me.

He had apparently agreed to choreograph the movie until the project went t*ts-up. As an addition, John Cleese had been lined up to be the "humour advisor".

As an addition, John Cleese had been lined up to be the "humour advisor". so it would have been a dance flick with no comedy in it.

Now if it had been Michael Palin it would have had some off-the-wall comedy. Incidentally, Michael Palin is my nominee for the first President of the UK if we ever become a republic. Just think of the wonderful Christmas speeches
