Lowell George...that was gonna be my guess...he died in 1979 from drugs, drink and fat. Littlefeat was getting bigger and bigger and he had just produced a Grateful dead Album with great results...wish ray was here to read that i have outtakes from that session including Lowell George singing three songs with the dead, presumably to show them how it's done ( Good Lovin' the highlight).

Lowell George's son was a "friend" on my Tull myspace page so either his son was a Tull fan independantly or maybe influenced by his father?

Is No4 Peter Green....... 7 looks like Jack Black.... Wish I'd taken a camera and tape recorder along to the PG Fleetwood Mac concerts we saw. Mind you I'm not sure I could have smuggled in a rather large reel to reel recorder but some folks did as there seem to be a fair few of their concerts on the web - or at least there were until the internet police started cracking down on such things.

Little Feat is a band that I have little doubt at their best were somewhere between very good and fantastic but I just never found their wavelength and only know their most well known songs like Dixie Chicken. As u know loads of Deadheads like them. Bob Marley is another Deadhead favorite who's genius is well lost on me. As to the Grateful Dead album he produced, Shakedown Street, I would mark it as the weakest in the entire catalogue. Obviously tracks on there that fleshed out in the light of a California day grew into something suitably organic, but the general take on that album was way over produced, decidedly non Grateful Dead. For that matter the version of Good Lovin on that record has got to be the lamest they ever did. Considering the real time article in either Pig or Weir's hands was the superior of the Rascals, I very much doubt Lowell George could have taught them much about its application.

Little Feat, never found their wavelength - same thought. I have no time for the Grateful Dead. I'll spend eternity listening to The Guess Who before that. Now when I see wavelength, I think of this; en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wavelength_%28album%29

Giveaway clues 1. His first name is the same as the most famous American singer ever. He liked to watch members of the police force and drinks lemonade in secret. 6. He fronted and wrote for an 80's band who had an unusual name - he said the name was a homage to the longwinded and equally silly band names of the 60's. He has written for Kylie Minogue/Cher. Allmusic describes him as "one of the most underrated lyricists of the '80s.

Now I'll be haunted by The Grateful Dead ca.music.yahoo.com/blogs/list-of-the-day/best-jerry-garcia-70-grateful-dead-top-25-230256436.htmlThe Best of Jerry Garcia at 70!: The Grateful Dead’s Top 25! By Rob O'Connor | List Of The Day – 16 hours ago (Canadian pages) 3) Terrapin Station (1977): Certain artists summon their best moments when taking the room to get it done properly. Bob Dylan, The Doors, Van Morrison, Tim Buckley, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, all inspire confidence when heading towards the ten-minute mark. Throw the Dead into that category. Side one of Terrapin Station feels like a warm-up for side two, where "Terrapin Station," the song and medley, gets the business done. The slicker production actually benefits the group here, as the tune sounds fantastic on headphones. Someone should devote an entire magazine to these guys!
