Well Hallo and cordial greetings Tullians Chose the name' nonrabbit' cause even although Tull have a vast store of lyrics - not a lot of choice for female names and all the best one's have gone Quick Tull CV - 1971,bought Aqualung - THE album of the year, ran out and bought SU,TW and Benefit. Have to say, if Tull hadn't produced Benefit - I probably wouldn't be here - fan wise that is! (It didn't save my life or anything ) Lastly, will try an keep the postings to the relevant posts - although that will be extremely difficult for me Cheers

Greetings well met fellow, Hail! (and "fellowettes" too.) Col, thanks for starting this site up. It appears to be off to a good start. I already recognize several folks from previous boards and hope to make some new friends as well. I'm representing the Pacific NW, specifically the "People's Republic of Eugene, OR". I'll do my best to keep it clean, play well with others, color within the lines, and ~ hopefully ~ string my sentences together in semi-legible fashion.. We've a lot to look forward to this year! (This Was re-re-release notwithstanding..)

Should indeed be a good year for all things Tull (This Was re-re-release notwithstanding.. ) so I thought we needed a little corner of the net again to discuss it all! And don't forget, if you like it here tell your Tull friends and make it a party, and if not tell me why and I'll fix it.

Post by SilverHamer on May 4, 2008 15:14:32 GMT
Hey guys and gals! Some of you probably know me from myspace or youtube...I go by different names on each. My mom-given name is Larry Curtis (well my dad gave me the Curtis part) which is what I use on myspace...everywhere else I am SilverHamer...sort of another story there. I have been a devout Tull fan since 1970. Before that I had only just sort of dabbled into their music because I was a Beatlemaniac until they broke up. Of all of the bands that I enjoyed listening to back then (and the list is really quite huge) Tull filled the void the Beatles left for me because I was sooo intrigued by Ian's guitar playing...as well as Martin's. My first album was Aqualung and by the end of the first week of ownership I had learned to play almost all of the acoustic guitar bits from the LP. I fell in love with their music because of the challenge of learning it. My first Tull concert was Thick As A Brick in '72...Denver Colosseum. After that experience everything turned Tull for me...LOL. Although I love playing music, it is only a hobby for me. My first love is my darling wife, Tessie, and after that I am a professional helicopter pilot. My love for music is 3rd on my list of loves...followed closely by SCUBA diving. I also enjoy using PhotoShop and other computer graphics programs. And, of course, surfing the internet and participating on forums such as this has to fall in there somewhere as well ;D I hope I haven't rambled too much for you...I have a problem being overly verbose sometimes. I am quite happy to have been invited to join this forum, and I thank you very much! All The Best, LC PS About my screen name...I suppose it is a play on words based on a few things really. I've already mentioned my love for the Beatles (eg. Maxwell's Silver Hammer), but I also possess silver(y) hair (what's left of it that is) and I love playing Hamer guitars (due in part to Martin Barre)...so I more or less combined these three things to come up with the name, SilverHamer. And now you know the REST of the story..........good day.

Thanks nonrabbit. Yes a great place to live after the ravages of living in London. Sad Tull are not playing at Plymouth Pavilions this tour but maybe next year ? All being well I'll be travelling to see the band next week in London but because of illness I now have to travel by train, bus and scrounging lifts but hey, it's all down to life experience, or so they say.

Welcome to our little Tull watering hole, always good to see a new face. Blimey, Star hotel 1968? It'll be a bit late but feel free to do a review and set list on that one No, not from cornwall myself but very jealous you are. We've had a few family holidays down your neck of the woods and loved it. You can't beat a St Ives pastie. make yourself right at home and get stuck in.

Yep will do. I emailed Glen Cornick last year re. the Star Club set list for 22nd April 1968 and it's now on the electrocutas web site but for the benefit of all on this forum the probable set list from his recollections was: Serenade to a Cuckoo Cat's Squirrel Rock Me Baby So Much Trouble Beggar's Farm Dharma For One My Sunday Feeling It's Breaking Me Up Song For Jeffrey Fat Man Someday The Sun Won't Shine For You Sunshine Day Must admit though I can't remember much about it. Alcohol ? We saw a lot of great bands at that time. The original Fleetwood Mac, Hendrix and Simon & Garfunkel at the Royal Albert Hall amongst others and at the Fairfield Halls in Croydon the likes of Delaney & Bonny, Derek and the Dominoes, Free, etc. For what it's worth I also saw thw the Beatles at the Fairfield Halls in 1963 - my first ever concert at the tender age of 15 and I've still got the concert programme. Oh well, must sign off before I begin to wallow in nostalgia. Have a good one.

Seems like Coilorado is a deep source of dedicated Tullies...though living in SF now, I was born, raised and exposed to Tull as teen in Denver...first gig was Passion Play in the Denver Coliseum, July 1973...must be the bracing mountain air! I've seen JT about 40 or 50 times and enjoyed a brief period from 88-90 when Gerd (tour manager for many years) and the band tolerated me hanging out before and after gigs, sometimes translating a bit in Europe, more often seeing Pegg safely to his hotel and generally tacking between pest and guest till Gerd left Tull and with him my teeny privileges.....still a huge fan, forcing numerous Tull songs down my 3 year old daughter's gullet (she likes Tull...no, really...she won't go to school without hearing Sparrow, Pussy Willow, Hot Mango and a few other faves), and greedily wishing for new material AND frequent gigs! Any other Tull parents out there? It's fun seeing which songs the kid digs...she couldn't be bothered by the obvious like Mother Goose or Bungle but loves obscurities like 'Man of Principle' and 'Strange Avenues'.

Spare the Tull, spoil the child! Thanks for the welcome and amazing work as moderator. Thanks amigo, but to be honest this board is actually pretty low maintainance. It's you guys using it that makes it work. And so far I have had no real moderating to do (touch wood) I guess given the history of some of the old Tull boards it's only a matter of time before we get someone who wants to stir it up a bit but I will take no nonsense!!
