I can see the new members, but I'm not sure if this is where you post. So! I've been a JT fan since the beginning. I saw him live as often as possible in my first life, back there at the beginning. Recently I saw "Thick as a Brick II" which I found wonderfully magic . . . he looks and dances better than the last time I saw him a long, long time ago. I'm from the USA - Oregon. I'm a poet and writer. I'm Dryad, which you probably know is a tree spirit/sylph type person. I have a Folklore minor with my B.A. and have always been interested in Mythology and Fok Lore from everywhere. I'm most versed in Celtic and Norse. Hi folks! WELCOME DRYAD !!! It's a GREAT PLACE for TULL FOLKLORE

I'm new here so hello. By profession i work in mostly jazz and fingerstyle guitar here in London but i have very strong roots in Prog Rock too and Ian Anderson was my first musical influence and the reason i became a musician. I'm not sure whether this is the right place to post a little Christmas piece i wrote in homage to Ian and all other Tull members. If not my apologies. I always associate Christmas with my first ever vinyl purchase, the ''Ring Out Solstice Bells'' EP in 1976 hence ''Twas The Tull Before Christmas''!! So anyway here's my little 'faux' Elizabethan style piece composed for 4 flutes,2 guitars and sleigh bells-- it is,of course, very much inspired by Ian Anderson and Jethro Tull. The title ''The Prog Galliard'' is a play on the title of a famous lute piece by the great Elizabethan lutenist John Dowland ''The Frog Galliard''. Anyway i hope you enjoy this piece i wrote for 4 flutes 2 guitars and sundry percussion devices. www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6E9gESDnXA&feature=youtu.beHappy Christmas Stuart Blagden

Hello, everybody! I realize I did not present myself here when I joined the site some 2 or 3 years ago, so I do it now, now that I just changed username from profg to Catqualung. Indeed I am a teacher (maths) and a writer, and I live in Rome, Italy. I was born in 1968 so I am old as Jethro Tull as a group. I first met JT when I was 14 when a friend lent me a audiocassette with Aqualung on one side and TAAB on the other side. I listened at it hundred times, adding an amplifier stolen from the old stereo set (which could not play cassettes) to my old '70s philips cassette-player, to gain a less flat sound. Only when I attended to JT live for the first time, during the 20 years of JT tour, I realized that the cassettes had lowered and melted the sound and that the flute riff of My God was even reacher, a discovery to me, who had never listened to the CD-quality yet. The years have passed, and I saw JT-IA live in concert a total of 10 times: fortunately Mr. A used to visit my country quite often in the ancient and forgotten ages before the Pandemic era, you know: when people used to go to things called concerts. I have a wife, a 18yo son, 2 cats (only one of which likes progressive rock, the other one does not). My favourite JT albums, let alone classics like Aqualung and TAAB, are Minstrel in the gallery, Crest of a Knave, Roots to branches and Dot.com. Cheerio!

Greetings all.
I didn't know this forum existed and as a nearly life long Tull fan I'm delighted to have found it.
Some mates and I are starting a Tull podcast, reviewing and discussing each of the albums episode by episode. We'll be releasing the Intro and This Was episodes later this week. Would it be useful for me to post notifications here? Is there a more appropriate section fo the forum?
Thanks.

The best place to feature your podcast is within the General Jethro Tull Discussions area where there is a section labelled Tull on TV and podcasts.

Thanks! Guess I introduced myself in the wrong place. Didn't see this thread. Been a Tull fan for almost 40 years. I have every album of theirs except some compilation ones. I never tire of them and marvel at the genius of Ian Anderson. Seen them many times live as well. Can't wait for Ian's new album and the Broadsword anniversary package! Nice to be here.

"Ello. I've been a Tull fan since I heard "Benefit" in high school. Subsequently, I bought, listened to, and enjoyed thoroughly many albums from "Stand Up" to "Broadsword." I saw Tull in concert for "Broadsword," and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. When I started writing songs, I stopped listening to music voraciously and started playing all the time. Still, Ian is a huge influence, and I find him to be one of the best, if not the best, lyric and idea man in rock. My greatest interest is in discussing the subject matter and musical elements of his songs. Is there a place on this forum which is dedicated to looking at individual songs? Thanks !!
