I hope I am posting this is the right place. Hi everyone, been a fan since 1968. I don't post much unless I have something to say, which is rare, especially since there are so many fans who can add more than I. But I will check occasionally and see if I may add something interesting. Cheers... Thanks for joining The Jethro Tull Forum 0isez I look forward to your future posts.

Hello everyone,
Long time Tull fan here but only recently found this wonderful forum. Have loved Tull's unique sound since the mid-70's and have been blessed to be able to see them perform live many times over the years! In the past few years I have re-acquired their entire catalog and have have a reborn appreciation for just how fantastic these guys were for so many albums.
I'm somewhat saddened that Martin and Ian are no longer performing together but nonetheless they are both amazing musicians and I'm happy they are both still performing.
Wife and I caught Martin's band last fall and were blown away not only by his playing but also his wit and charm. In Tull with Ian as front man I never got a real glimpse of Martin's personality but he's a real down to earth, funny guy.
For 2017 we have tickets to see Martin's band again in March, and just learned Ian & company will be performing nearby in August so will definitely be getting tickets for that show as well.

Welcome to The Jethro Tull Forum! Lotus72d... The lotus flower is sacred to Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, and Jainism... 72d... is probably not... (Just kidding... ) No, seriously... it seems to be a racing car... Are you involved in something like that?

Thanks Equus, made me laugh a bit. Lotus car company indeed named after the flower, and 72D was one of their finest ever creations in their F-1 racing heyday in the 70's. Have owned a few old Lotus sports cars or is it Loti? lol) over the years, wonderfully quirky British machines.
Ian Anderson is, or at least was, an F-1 fan over the years.

There's always something new to learn on the forum. So once and again, thrilled to have you here, I hope that you will have a good time in the company of your brothers in Tull!

Hello Everyone Got into Tull through buying This Was after hearing a track on the John Peel show, loved every album up to Thick As A Brick and then for some strange reason stopped buying Tull records. I did hear a few tracks on the radio, TOTP etc which I liked but never bought anything, been playing my Tull cd's lately and came across this forum so I thought I would have a look. I am going to start buying all the cd's after Thick As A Brick, hopefully I will like them as much as the early ones In Fact today I bought the This Was 40th Anniversary Collection, only played the first CD but I had forgotten how good it is and I can't stand the blues but I love this My other big musical love is Peter Gabriel era Genesis and his solo career, have everything he has done. Hope I don't get thrown off the forum for mentioning another group Look forward to having a good look round, what i have seen up to now looks great One annoying thing is I had a ticket to see Tull play in Liverpool just after Benefit came out but I had the flu and couldn't go and sadly never got to see them live, and guess I never will Right, I'll shut up now, I tend to ramble a bit, senility setting in Colin

I think that by exploring lots of other music, when we return to some artists we've over-looked for a while, we can value them in new light. I can think of many artists who fit that description in my case. I haven't returned to rediscover disco or opera though, so I hope they're safe from war and plague? Of course, posterity is presuming the artist kept producing and didn't quit and disappear into obscurity, even though, we must observe, that to the artist, even an artist who isn't producing anything, "obscurity" is sometimes a matter of perception, and any artist worth their salt needs to create from a core range of potential and not for the cheapest cookie-cutter candy store playlist, which would be real obscurity right in the popularity crossroad. There. I said "crossroad". That always feels cathartic. So do trips down this highway: www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVjWCwZ8MI8

Great that you have joined The Jethro Tull Forum! I saw Peter Gabriel in the 80'ties in Copenhagen... I can't remember the exact year, but it was a great concert... 1983, 84? Maybe... Please mention other things, concepts, and ideas... We all love Jethro Tull, but life is more than Jethro Tull... Ian Andersons lyrics are about everything else but Jethro Tull... So why should we limit our mindset, when Ian's intellect and intelligence is ever expanding... We actually have a Thread that's called: "What Are You Listening To?" Usually people on this forum follows their associations, and we tend to get a little of track, but no one are "corrected" and ridiculed for having an opinion... We are all brothers of Tull, but see things very differently... and that's okay... You are in for a treat if you discover more of Jethro Tull... I remember back in 1980 when a friend of mine told me to listen to Songs From The Wood, and the time of discovery that followed... I am also a woody Allen fan and a few years ago I decided to watch all of his movies, in order to find the ones that I liked the best... I have a tendency to do that... In the case of Woody Allen I found that it became a bit tedious, but that's just my experience... I now know the movies that I really love... If you tell me that you don't like a song, or whatever, I will never say that you are wrong... I think that mankind has a tendency to get into this I'm right and your wrong trap... If you listen to Heavy Horses and you don't like it... Please say so... It doesn't make your experience wrong, just because I like it... We experience the world so differently... You are most welcome! Greetings from Denmark!

Thanks for all your replies. listening to the This Was 40th Anniversary set as I write this and love it. Just ordered the Stand Up Elevation set, can't wait to hear that. Equus, thanks for the greetings from Denmark, I was in a group in the early 80's and we arrived in Copenhagen, played a concert and disappeared again, all in the space of 10 hours. Really liked the look of Denmark and always meant to get back but never have. Happy memories

Really liked the look of Denmark and always meant to get back but never have. Happy memories Love that town... I'm not living in Copenhagen anymore, but I have a tendency to pub-crawl my way through Copenhagen once in a while... I'm not a heavy drinker though... I moved to the island of Fyn in 2006 because of a divorce, and in order to get closer to my two children... but my soul is still in Copenhagen... My ex got a job on Fyn, and had the children at the time... She's my best friend though, and we have a great relationship... When my ex got the job on Fyn she asked me if I was okay with it... She knew that it would mean that the children would be further away, and if I had said no thank you, she was prepared to stay in Copenhagen... I said it was okay with me... My youngest daughter have been living with me since she was 7 years old, and she is now 18... Okay... We were really not married, but we lived together for 18 years, and that's really just like being married... I just didn't move and she didn't kick me out, and 18 years went by... This Saturday I'm going to Copenhagen to pub-crawl again...

Wow, there is a hell of a lot to digest here Think i better take my time and enjoy the voyage of discovery I got a shock today, I have bought the This Was 40 Anniversary cd and the Benefit Collectors edition and I thought as I have always loved Thick As A Brick I would buy the 40th Anniversary Edition but the cheapest on Amazon is £243.12 ?? Wow. This Was cost me £22 and Benefit the same, i am not broke but i am not paying over £200, have looked everywhere but it seems there are none going at a reasonable price, oh well, guess thats one I wont be adding to my collection. I have decided I am going to buy, in chronological order, all the post Thick Of A Brick CD's, one a month starting with A Passion Play, which I will buy On 1st March. I will post my thought on it when I have had time to get to know it, though I am not sure if this thread is the right place for me to do this?

To be able to go back and relive each as a new release would be amazing. Perhaps you should start a new thread and us geezers can join along on your journey. I remember when a new Tull would come out and my brother and I were living together we would reverently put it on the turntable an sit in silence as we listened all the way through. Most often, we would look at each other a bit puzzled. Did we like it? Do we like as much as the previous release? Better listen again. It generally took 4 or 5 listens to really have a feel for it. Of course we liked them all in the end!

Hi all
I´m a Tull fan from Sweden, and I´ve been banned from every progressive site on the internet. guess I won´t last here for very long.
I´m just a person who cares for Freedom of speech. and that is not very common among moderators, cos they all seem to be in fear of God.
Been to more than 15 live shows of Tull, and there´s no better band on this planet, well Frank Zappa was not cat$h1t either.

Anger usually is expressed in many ways but not towards those you wish to communicate with in general. I know what being banned is like just for saying "JETHRO TULL" is coming to a place like Brazil in 2013.
Most things here are related to music although political things occasionally get brought up. With the internet there are so many conspiracy theories you can cause anger to anyone who reads them.
I am not a moderator but I love TULL in all it's forms as well as all types of music. Being open minded is always a plus. This Forum is about having FUN. Welcome ! Let's ROCK !!!

Way back in 1971, I heard the Aqualung album on the radio, and it really ruined me of 40 years of good money. Buying everything but the kitchen sink. Today both me and Ian are old, but I´m grateful to him for interest me in all sorts of music, mainly British.
And Martin you would be nothing without Ian, so shut up n play yer guitar.
