HI everyone! I found Tull years ago from just picking up a record of all things at a swap meet in a dusty record bin. I still have that vinyl Aqualung, but I've also collected every bit of Jethro Tull that I can find. I love his old and new mix. Rather hard to describe. Without knowing anything about his music he inspired me to re-read lord of the rings, his style of music just speaks to my middle-earth love.

hola- I wanted to say hello- I have visited this site many times- but only joined a few days ago. It's a blast going through and seeing how much cool stuff is posted about Tull. I wanted to say 'thanks' to everyone who have collected so much cool stuff for sharing all of the artifacts and rare photos, and stories, etc. I am from the Springfield Illinois area- Ian recently played here on the HE tour ( when I see the abbreviation HE I always think of the high efficiency symbol on laundry detergent- am I the only one that does that?), and on his last tour as Tull, several years prior. And that meant I didn't have to drive hundreds of miles away to see him! Keep coming to Springfield Ian!! we love you here, Anyway, I am fascinated by all this controversy of Ian's band and comparison's to the some of the Tull line up's of the past which, of course always included Martin. In a nutshell I will say that both Martin and new boy Florian or unbelievable guitarists. I think that Florian is very respectful of how he approaches the songs, and although there is only one Martin- the zen master- Florian knows how to fricken rock, too. As far as comparisons of Ian's band to Tull's of the past, I think that after recording two original albums with Ian ( of course TAABy2 and HE) that they as a group are much 'looser' in a good way- more able to relax and play together- I think that playing thick as a brick a couple hundred times will tend to make a band tight- and that is what I witnessed on the HE tour- it was a much more 'fluid' band than it was in the early days of Ian assembling his current line up. And the icing on the cake was getting the young singer to help out with the vocals. He took the pressure off of Ian having to carry the whole show, and also added a 'harmony' element that gave the chorus's a drive and power that really added tremendously to the effect. I think that a band must stay intact for at least a few years before they have an 'identity'- Ian's band played the new album like they owned it. As far as Martin goes- I think that it would be interesting if Ian wrote an album that featured both Martin and Florian playing together- why does it have to be one or the other? I look forward to discussing these very important issues of the day with everyone.

Good point canterburyrift I think too that we sometimes assume that Martin is simply waiting in the wings to get asked when in fact he's off doing his own thing too. But who knows - they all like to keep us guessing (and assuming)

First of all, a warm welcome to you Thecanterrburyrift! So HE reminds you of this symbol...? Very understandable! I don't really like these abbreviations... I mean! TAAB?? Isn't it just so much better to write it all? Thick As A Brick? Now that's magic, TAAB is not... I mean what about this one? SLOB?? No way! To me it will always be The Secret Language Of Birds... and A is not Aqualung, come to think of it... I agree with you that the band is getting better... and it seems to be one of the best ways to get a wonderful album done, by the way... Let the band, constantly, loose amongst foreign hills, and we'll blast you away when we get back into the studio... Martin and Florian are both great musicians, and having them play together would be more than okay to me...

And might I add.....every time I post a comment on Youtube about a video, people jump all over me and attack me for no good reason, this site is so much better. I love the fact that I am surrounded by Tull people and so far, no one has criticized me. Thanks guys!

I can't agree with everyone but I prefer to use humour in a nice way and not insults. Some internet groups have a dogma which becomes anger when things are said. Also their may be some who just like to rant over trivial ideas. I'm here for the FUN

Hello William Wallace! With a name such as yours and a love of Tull you'd be most welcome here I've visited the Wallace monument on many occasions - did not take this photograph though. The monument stands on the Ochil Hills and has over 200 steps to the top - maybe you've been yourself? The climb is well worth it for the view and to see Wallace's (broad)sword. i65.images obliterated by tinypic/2llli4i.jpg[/IMG] Patti nonrabbit

I hope I am posting this is the right place. Hi everyone, been a fan since 1968. I don't post much unless I have something to say, which is rare, especially since there are so many fans who can add more than I. But I will check occasionally and see if I may add something interesting. Cheers...
