COLD FLAME Given that this forum is specifically dedicated to the music of Jethro Tull, my input generally over the years has either been reviewing Tull music or concerts attended or advertising up and coming Cold Flame concerts where the band would be performing the music of Jethro Tull. However, I have only just realised that maybe I have been missing an opportunity to focus on the original music of Cold Flame. With fingers crossed and baited breath whilst throwing caution to the wind, I am starting up this new thread theme dedicated to the band I have led since 1984. COLD FLAME - A short summary of the bandCold Flame are a respected original blues rock band and renowned Jethro Tull tribute act based in Derbyshire England. They were formed in 1984 by singer songwriter Pat Rowbottom who remains the band's driving force together with a stable line up that has been together for well over a decade. The band have performed regularly across the UK and Europe gaining Cold Flame an enviable reputation as an exciting live electric and acoustic band. Cold Flame's unique blend of original and traditional blues, rock and folk rock music continues to attract local, national and even some international radio airplay both in the UK, Europe, Australia, USA, Canada and South America...influenced by a succession of acclaimed studio album releases over the years as well as major support act opportunities to some legendary British rock and blues acts. Whilst remaining very much a UK based band, in 2019, Pat formed an alternative four piece Cold Flame line up featuring French musicians. This variation of the band performs live electric and acoustic concerts specifically in France as and when opportunities arise, featuring a similar repertoire to that played by the UK line up. COLD FLAME - musicians
Pat Rowbottom - vocals, electric and acoustic bass guitars, recorder. Rob Barnes - vocals, lead and acoustic guitars. Phil Marke - drums & percussion. Joe Orban - keyboards. Mark Parkinson - flutes. Vince Walton - drums & percussion.
with occasional musicians.... Dave Conner - guitars. Adam Hutchins - keyboards.
In 2023 Cold Flame celebrate their thirty ninth anniversary as an active band and this will be marked in January 2023 by two new official band videos. As both have now been released here are the links... www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSQQ6g1nut4www.youtube.com/watch?v=c78FtpLSz8wThis will be closely followed on February 1st by the release of a brand new studio album entitled 'A Circus in Paradise'. The new album, the band's sixteenth, is being released worldwide by West Yorkshire based independent record company Starring Records. It sees the band moving away temporarily from the blues to present the listening public instead with a progressive rock concept album. The album features nine new original songs lasting over 75 minutes in total though further original unreleased material is planned for the download version of the album with an expected release date of March 2023. February 2023 also sees the band return to live action with concerts already planned throughout the year taking in shows both in England and also in Europe. Thank you High Sheriff for adding the vids...which at the same time clearly displays my limited abilities in using modern technology as I would have done so had I worked it out.

COLD FLAME RELEASE NEW STUDIO ALBUM - A CIRCUS IN PARADISE
Four years to the day since the release of the last Cold Flame studio album 'Waiting for God' and the band are back in conjunction with independent record company Starring Records based in west Yorkshire to release a brand new studio album entitled 'A Circus in Paradise'. The new album, the band's 16th, released on Wednesday 1st February 2023, would have been released last year had it not been for the unexpected events brought about by the Covid pandemic. Given the government led restrictions on mixing and travel together with general concerns during an ongoing health crisis, the process in which the album evolved was radically different to that on previous album sessions, reliant as much on sharing music files, emails and Facebook messenger as actual studio visits. Inevitably there were delays and alterations in the recording process. The album sessions took place over a two year period before some fine tuning in the summer of 2022 at Starring Studios in Todmorden Yorkshire. Mixing and Mastering took place during October last year. The album Artwork was designed by Midlands artist Mal Thomas based on lyrical themes taken from the album. CD Duplication was handled by Trades Duplication Ltd based in Cheltenham Gloucestershire and completed in November 2022. Cold Flame are indebted to sound engineer Neil Scales for not only bringing all the recordings together and mixing and mastering the songs but also for his additional instrumental contributions on several songs as well as those contributions made by brass players - Guy Smith, Jon Peacock and Jo Bircher.
'A Circus in Paradise' is a progressive rock concept album which touches on several dark themes enveloping mankind in the 21st century. Whilst there is a lyrical focus on global politics, world health, warfare and sacrifice, the overall theme that binds these ideas together is climate change and the destructive impact that mankind is inflicting on the world we live in. The album marks a radical change from the usual blues-based material normally associated with the band's music and instead incorporates elements of rock, jazz, folk and eastern music linked tightly within a progressive rock framework. Many of the songs are extended pieces with various musical changes occurring throughout. Though the mood is generally quite dark as one would be expect, there are several passages throughout the album that are deliberately lighter and hopeful. 'A Circus in Paradise ' features nine brand new original songs all written by band frontman Pat Rowbottom.
A Circus in Paradise track listing Passport to Oblivion The Deep Blue A Circus in Paradise Eye of the Storm Lost or Found Last Flight Manifesto The 11th Hour Tomorrow was another day

There will be two official versions of the album released this year. The cd version of 'A Circus in Paradise', released by Starring Records, can be purchased by accessing the Cold Flame Shop @ coldflame.com and will also be sold at all Cold Flame shows. For those of you who prefer to download and stream your music, an expanded download version of the album again released by Starring Records will be released worldwide in late March 2023. This version will feature a further five songs written by Pat but not included on the original album. The download version will be available from all the usual outlets including Amazon, Apple, ITunes, Deezer and Spotify.

Thanks to everyone who came along last night to support the band in Buxton Derbyshire.
Top gig and a round of applause for all the dancers rocking the night away.. The next two blues rock shows see the band making welcome returns to two favourite music venues - The Fishpond in Matlock Bath, Derbyshire and The Old Black Bull in Preston Lancashire. We look forward to meeting up with friends, family members and the mildly curious. Still rocking the blues.
