I posted this on the General Board on the "Separated At Birth" thread...hadn't noticed this thread yet...lol...but everytime I see a photo of Martin wearing that red jumpsuit with the big "A" ont it... i29.images obliterated by tinypic/8wcwnl.jpg[/IMG] ...I am reminded of the little guy in the middle of this photo: The "A" era must have been one of the worst transitional periods in the band's history...even for Martin. I wonder if he caught some teasing about his attire being similar to that of Alvin?

From my documentation here at Launceston Towers it was, I believe, Plymouth Guildhall, 4th March 1972. You don't backdrops like that anymore do you.

They still do in some parts of Ireland Went to see a band in Donegal and before they came on stage I was looking around and thought the velvet drapes could do with a good clean ....and there was a glitter ball as well....and they sold raffle tickets in the interval ;D The band were great too ! Plymouth Guildhall indeed!

Ah . . . . glitter balls. Always will remind me of my youth and The Wallington Public Halls and The Orchid Ballroom in Purley. Great days !

This is definitely in the wonderful costume category 'a rich tapestry of jewelled colours modelled beautifully by the boys' i37.images obliterated by tinypic/2w591j7.jpg[/IMG]

Jobson is hoping against hope that his sophisticated buddies in Roxy and Zappa don't ever see this picture. can you imagine Brian Ferry or Frank Zappa in 'A' drag?

Yeah...look at that 'A' picture where the guys are waiting for the finger paints to be brought to the rubber room....Barre and Craney look like they are trying not to puke, Pegg and Jobson are, at best 'not amused' and Ian seems to be congratulating himself on his great idea for a photo shoot theme.

As bad as those uniforms may have been, it is the least flattering picture I have seen from this period. Poor Martin. O my the indignities he has suffered. In real time under stage light I don't recall them looking anywhere near that bad, in fact Ian and Martin looked kind of good. In fact Martin hitting those clean Black Sunday notes before Ians arrival dispelled any notion that this could possibly be something other than Jethro Tull, uniforms be damned.Gotta admit Martin is a good sport.

gleamed this info from the interview on the other thread when asked Ian said most of Tull's stage outfits were provided by Angels theatrical costumes who are still going strong and indeed have huge retro costume sales. www.angels.uk.com/sale.htmlmight be something to consider for the Convention

Heard this on the BBC6 music interview with Ian and thought of this thread. This is the shop, sorry establishment where all the shoes/ boots and maybe even the odd codpiece accessory came from. www.handmadeshoes.co.uk/theatrical-period-shoes.phpTry the Medieval section for your " wandering minstrel onstage" look It's not cheap no BOGOF's! and they would have been sharing the queue with David Bowie who had a loyalty card. Stunning period shoes and they made the Beatle/Chelsea boot AND ...Dorothy's red slippers
