hello my friends.
I am moving to Scotland tomorrow for a year. Exciting times for sure.
I know there are teh Tull Geography and other threads dealing with TUll related places but, what do you think, in a nutshell, are the most obvious Tull places to visit whilst on the island?
Dun Ringill is number 1 on my list.
Thanks, D

Hi Argentull,
Great you are getting the chance to live in Scotland for a while. One of my favourite places that brings memories of Tull songs is the Island of Skye (including Dun Ringill). I used to live in the Scottish Highlands when Ian Anderson had his fish farm there. Trying to remember the songs that bring memories of Skye and the Highlands - "Ears of Tin", "Mountain Men" & "Dun Ringill" are the first that spring to mind.
I will drop you a separate message - I lived in South America for a few years and visited Argentina a few times (fantastic country). I even had the chance to see the TAAB/TAAB2 tour there in 2013. I also saw the Roger Waters Another Brick tour in Buenos Aires. What is it with Bricks and 70's musicians?

As above: the Isle of Skye is the obvious Tull place to visit, especially Strathaird - en route to which you'll pass through Broadford. Though whether they'll be holding a bazaar I couldn't say And to be honest, you really should visit Skye anyway!

Hmm I think I missed the 2013 tour here -I must have been on field work, don't remember exactly. I also missed Tull in India back in 2008. There was a terrorist attack the day before and preferred not to move too much. BY the time Roger Waters made the Argentinian tour and filled 7 River PLate stadiums in a row I was living somewhere else (had seen him in 2002 anyway). Yeah, there is definetively a lot of love for British music here. I've seen Tull/IA 4 times, Purple 7 times or so, Roger Waters, Glenn Hughes, Whitesnake, Stones, U2, Peter Gabriel, Police, and many more.

Yes, Roger Waters filled the River Plate stadium for 7 nights. I went on night 5 and it was one of the best concerts I have attended.
There are many good places to see in Scotland and the North of England is great too. In North England, I would recommend trying to see Bamburgh Castle & Lindisfarne. Lindisfarne has a castle and an old abbey and you can only access both by driving over a causeway which can only be used when the tide is out. They are about 1.5 hours drive each way from Edinburgh.
The Borders area of Scotland is interesting as are places like Perthshire - not too far from St Andrews & Edinburgh. Lots of whisky distilleries to see too. Ian Anderson born in Dunfermline - just the other side of the new Forth Road Bridge.
Will drop you an email with some more thoughts.

Ian Anderson's former home LINK Jethro Tull star Ian Anderson's former home on the Isle of Skye. It was within walking distance of Strathaird House where we were staying. This is also known as Kilmarie House.
