I posted this on the General Board on the "Separated At Birth" thread...hadn't noticed this thread yet...lol...but everytime I see a photo of Martin wearing that red jumpsuit with the big "A" ont it...

...I am reminded of the little guy in the middle of this photo:
The "A" era must have been one of the worst transitional periods in the band's history...even for Martin. I wonder if he caught some teasing about his attire being similar to that of Alvin?
...everybody's on the stage and it seems like you're the only person sitting in the audience...
From my documentation here at Launceston Towers it was, I believe, Plymouth Guildhall, 4th March 1972. You don't backdrops like that anymore do you.
They still do in some parts of Ireland Went to see a band in Donegal and before they came on stage I was looking around and thought the velvet drapes could do with a good clean ....and there was a glitter ball as well....and they sold raffle tickets in the interval ;D
Yeah...look at that 'A' picture where the guys are waiting for the finger paints to be brought to the rubber room....Barre and Craney look like they are trying not to puke, Pegg and Jobson are, at best 'not amused' and Ian seems to be congratulating himself on his great idea for a photo shoot theme.
As bad as those uniforms may have been, it is the least flattering picture I have seen from this period. Poor Martin. O my the indignities he has suffered. In real time under stage light I don't recall them looking anywhere near that bad, in fact Ian and Martin looked kind of good. In fact Martin hitting those clean Black Sunday notes before Ians arrival dispelled any notion that this could possibly be something other than Jethro Tull, uniforms be damned.Gotta admit Martin is a good sport.
gleamed this info from the interview on the other thread when asked Ian said most of Tull's stage outfits were provided by Angels theatrical costumes who are still going strong and indeed have huge retro costume sales.

itullian: Is there a section/thread where Ian's lyrics and poetry can be discussed?
Jul 2, 2021 21:27:57 GMT
nonrabbit: Hi itullian, because it's such a big subject Ian's lyrics are discussed on just about every thread. There are some old threads - Cross Referenced; Books/Poems that Influenced IA's Lyrics; >>

nonrabbit: Ian's Favourite Jethro Tull Songs and a favourite of mine - 5 Old IA Letters ( from Yvonne) which gives a fascinating insight into Ian's early thoughts on his songs. All of these Threads can be found in the General Jethro Tull Discussions Thread >>>

nonrabbit: You can also use the Search button - top left, and although it looks a bit of a faff - I use the first box - "WHAT"... type in "Lyrics" Ignore the "WHERE" box and go to "WHEN" and I usually specify something like 8000 days>>>

steelmonkey: Montreux live album: no audience recognition nor response to easy hint of Budapest coming up or opening notes. Tell me...what is wrong with people? What Tull fan in 2003 doesn't have the sense to express sheer joy at onset of Budapest, live?
