Legends of world rock music Jethro Tull will play a big concert in Kyiv LINK There are not many bands in the world that have been on the stage for more than half a century. The British cult, led by Ian Anderson, are among them. Known for intricate lyrics, shamanic theatrical shows and ingenious flute solos, Jethro Tull is still full of unprecedented strength and power. And ready to show it on April 8, 2022 in Kiev's October Palace.

April 2022 seems like a long time away doesn't it! Lets hope it becomes a reality! LINK Dear viewers! The concert scheduled for April 27, 2020, postponed to January 15, 2021, is postponed to January 27, 2022. All previously purchased tickets are valid!
Ian Anderson, the permanent multi-instrumentalist flutist of the cult British rock band Jethro Tull, returns to Russia. Internationally renowned and far from the mainstream, Jethro Tull achieved significant commercial success back in the 70s: 5 albums of the group went platinum, 11 gold, and sold over 60 million copies worldwide. Intricate texts, extremely complex arrangements and familiar flute play give rise to a unique and harmonious symbiosis of instruments in each of the compositions. Drawing on the eclectic influences of many genres, Ian and the team have always skillfully balanced between progressive rock and folk, making their unique contribution to the golden treasure of music. At the concert in Crocus City Hall, musical gourmets will have a great opportunity to enjoy works from the albums Thick as a Brick, A Passion Play, Aqualung, Stand Up and Songs from the Wood.

Tull buddy and I thinking about Poland next May. Round trip flights to Berlin not too $$$ and we'd rent a car for three night run thru Polish cities. So far it's in the talk stage and requires work, kid, airlines, Covid etc to agree....but all adventures start with talk! "But I’m not a Christian. I believe in the historical Jesus, Jesus of Nazareth and not Jesus “the Christ” in the sense that a Christian has to have that undying belief that Christ truly is both the Son of God and the Son of Man, as the Bible confusedly tells us, or He tells us if you believe the biblical words. I think the Bible is a very useful document, I seek reference from the Bible quite often and on a number of occasions I have included elements of biblical stories in songs. But I think that like all religions it can be very dangerous if you approach it in a literal fashion, and there are very many scary things in the Bible, most of them in the Old Testament but some of them in the New Testament too, and I have to try to keep in mind that I don’t take these things too literally, I try to see the positive messages in the works of the Bible, I can see how easily people get very polarized as a result of their beliefs. And it’s very worrying sometimes when you see how angry people are because of this and it’s potentially quite a dangerous subject, certainly dangerous to sing about because you know you’re going to piss some people off. Generally speaking however the Anglican Church is pretty easy-going, I play in churches regularly in support of great medieval churches and cathedrals, I’m a big supporter of Christianity and the physicality of the church, but I don’t call myself a Christian. However that doesn’t seem to cause a problem with the more liberal-thinking Christians that I work with. I mean they all hope that I’m going to come out of the closet one day and say ”That’s it yeah I really am a Christian after all!” but I’m not going to do that." Read Mere Christianity, Ian. Christ was historical and the people who followed him and gave their lives for him didn't make up what they wrote about him. Who would sacrifice everything for a lie--a lie they created? No mortal man who wasn’t insane could speak as He did. C.S. Lewis was a genius like you. He took complex issues and made them easy to understand. If you read Mere Christianity, you will know who Jesus was and is, “Him resurrected from the grave.” We do know what He said. We have thousands of transcripts that largely agree with each other. Besides, ask Him yourself. He'll convince you He's not the kind you have to wind up on Sundays. He'll do so by way of FIRM REPLY. I swear.

Covid situation not pretty' back in the (former) USSR'. Effin' shame the world can't pull together and fight the germs in a coordinated and national border oblivious manner. The Covid doesn't care about nationalities, the response should be the same.

I would like to see a tour when they play a lot of tracks from the new album, and ditch a lot of the older stuff. Put in some Homo Erraticus and TAAB 2, and Secret Language of Birds, Rupi's Dance etc, stuff that suits Ian's present vocal range.

Couldn't agree more with jack ITG's dream of a concert featuring new and ( relatively) recent stuff. Zealot Gene, end to end, first half and a second half with some TAAB2, HE, SLOB, Rupi and maybe an encore reaching back further like Budapest/Jump Start/TAAB or APP and NO AQUALUNG or STAND UP....NONE. A boy can dream, right?
Here is my second set. being fair to Ian's voice and overall length of gig.
Lost in Crowds Banker Bets Instrumental from HE or SLOB Enter The Uninvited or Cold Dead Reckoning more instrumentals and solos Change of Horses
The encore can be Budapest with a bit of Critique Oblique worked in or after.

I entered with the very first old fans, grabbed two t-shirts and sat in the gallery. At first I was worried: I saw entering a lot of old men, walking with crutches etc... some looked half dead. Am I so old? I asked myself. Is this the target of this band, by now? But you know, old people arrive first, shortly after they came a lot of people like me, or younger: 40-50 yo. Many types. Old rockers with long white hair and long white beards. The man who has grown too fat for his leather jacket, the old lady with pink hair in a pigtail, the middle-aged couple with two 20 yo kids, a lot of groups of 45 yo men on shore leave, all smiling in selfies and continuously messaging to the wives (they certainly had a number of paints waiting for at the pub after the show). Families, yes such concerts are stuff for families. And one lonely man like me (this time my son and wife did not follow me) was at the telephone asking his son how the math test was like. I met a certain amount of teenegers at their very first concert, and I even counted 2-3 childs, running here and there in the theatre before the show begun, wearing their new broadsword t-shirts. Yes, every few years a certain amount of fan renewal is still happening. Then the concert, which for me was the 11th time to watch JT/IA performing, I believe, but for most of the 2000 people it was the very first time, or the first time in the last 50 years or so. It is the 5-6th time I saw this band (but for JPJ which is the new guy) and they keep getting better. They can soften the sound when Ian sings his lines, and this helps. Joe supports the singing dueting with Ian, but best results are not when Sinatra couples with Popeye, best results are when they sing together, instead: in those moments, like in the Zealot Gene title track, Ian sings at a lower key, yet he successfully add his unique rusty bass sound to the main line singed higher by Joe, with very good results. The magic sound of flute still makes your bones thremble and people say: wow. JPJ is not like FO, instead of bending a single note forever, while sliding on his knees all over the stage and looking at the ceiling like if he is watching angels, he stays quietly still, but plays some 70-80 notes in the same time. His guitar sound is darker and powerful in the riffs. Good band: I had been somewhat deluded by the band contributions in the new album, but live they really work fine. Ihope they keep having a good time supporting the fantastic Mr. A, becouse we do keep having a good time. At the end of the concert, I can testify that everybody was going down the stairs with a stupid smile in his face and dreaming eyes. Another nice night for me, an unforgettable first time for many.

By the way: Ian has ripristinated the "salvation a la mode" line in Aqualung, while last time I saw him live (it was 2019) he had replaced it with "intellectual salvation". Misterious man.
