I've always been kind of amazed so appreciative of Ian's bass playing after Glasscock couldn't play. Love it. From the time I bought the album in 1979 til now ,so enthralled by the uniqueness of this. Also, that 2 of the 3 songs that John plays bass on were the "softer/quieter" tunes, while IAN kicks ass on the hard rock ones. Peace

I would be very surprised if Ian had not grabbed the bass from Jeffrey Hammond-Hammond here and there on A Passion Play and other recordings from the peak era. I think this may be one of Tull's deep secrets and a reason they dodge a lot of scrutiny from that era.
