I'm 99.9% certain that this image is from the Stones' Rock 'n' Roll Circus. Can anyone confirm this ? Also, what bass guitar is Glenn playing - it does seem like a hybrid of some kind.

Definitely the Rock 'n' Roll Circus -- tell-tale stripey background, with folks sitting around. But it's not taken from the filmed version of 'Song for Jeffrey' -- Glenn is wearing a jacket (just a waistcoat in the film), and not wearing the derby hat -- so either this shot is from the unreleased 'Fat Man' performance, or from a rehearsal. The bass is definitely the same though. See: www.tullpress.com/images/stonetv68.jpgA

Rehearsals did take place at The Marquee Club in Wardour Street which is where the above image probably originates from and would explain Glenn's change of clothing and the vertical strips behind the band. Two images of the band from earlier in the year with Mick still in residency. From: www.udiscovermusic.com/stories/the-rolling-stones-rock-and-roll-circus/Rehearsals and filming In the days before filming began, on Wednesday, 11 December, there were rehearsals and camera tests at three different London venues: the Marquee Club, Olympic Sound Studios and the Londonderry House Hotel in Mayfair. Some songs were honed and some – including Lennon, Jagger and Clapton singing a version of Buddy Holly’s ‘Peggy Sue’ – were cut from the final setlist.Later - Jethro Tull The newly-formed Blackpool rock band Jethro Tull were next, introduced by Jagger, who said “The first of our acts tonight…” before Yoko Ono yelled “Jethro Tull”. The band delivered a rousing version of ‘A Song For Jeffrey’, with Ian Anderson opening proceedings playing a flute introduction for a song that he had written. Glen Cornick played harmonica, Clive Bunker was on drums and the performance was notable for the guest appearance of Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi, who was briefly standing in for Mick Abrahams. Anderson added to the circus atmosphere, incidentally, by trying to play the flute while standing on one leg – looking as though he was constantly on the verge of a pratfall.
