Saw the Nassau coliseum show in November 1987(amongst other shows). Been racking my brain who opened. Not a popular group but they were really good. Any help would be appreciated thanks Btw was one of the first concerts I went to and it was awesome. Much heavier than expected. « Prev1Next »

The excellent Ministry of Information web page notes that Fairport Convention were the support band for this tour. Think this would have meant that Dave Pegg would have played bass for both groups. Wonder if his gave him some extra beer money? Link below www.ministry-of-information.co.uk/setlist/87.htm

Sorry about that bigb72.. I was going by the note further up the Ministry of Info page that says Fairport were the support act on the North American leg of the tour. Will have a look and see if I can find out any more.

Hi guys. I really appreciate all the replies and info. I didn’t expect much. It def wasn’t fairport convention. I also caught them later on that summer at Jones beach. Perhaps I’m thinking that. I know it was a new band. I was impressed enough to buy the album. Since the concert though I didn’t hear anything further on the band. I didn’t see a follow album or hear any news about them. What really stuck out that jones beach show was Ian only played guitar on aqualung and was much heavier and mind blowin’. Was the first time I had heard the song minus the flute. Anyway thanks again. For the help.

Did some checking perhaps the group is It Bites which would they could have opened in 1989 on the box set tour. They had a progressive/alternative which is what I remember. The show was 3/111/89 if anyone can confirm. Thanks

I'm late to this party, but I think the band you are looking for is "It Bite's". Damn good band that is still kicking today. All of their releases are special. I have a BUNCH of their shows (masters sent from some of the band members) that I plan on sharing one day. If you are looking for a good place to start in their catalog, I would start with "Big Lad In The Windmill" or "Map Of The Past".
