If you were a teenager in the ‘70s, you probably listened to those awesome bands that defined an era: Queen, Led Zeppelin, Alice Cooper, Deep Purple and Jethro Tull. Their music and live productions really pushed the envelope and stretched musical boundaries. Jethro Tull released a slew of uber-popular albums throughout the ‘70s and ‘80s, including “Aqualung,” “Living in the Past,” “Thick as a Brick,” “A Passion Play,” “Songs from the Wood,” and “Crest of a Knave.” The legendary progressive rock group undoubtedly left an indelible imprint on pop culture. Tull’s transition from blues and folk to a harder edge classic rock sound was all about that dynamic electric guitar alongside frontman Ian Anderson’s magical flute. Nobody had ever heard flute-playing during a rock concert before. The British musician once said, “I was not a great guitarist, so I sold my 1960 Fender Stratocaster in exchange for a Shure Microphone, made in Chicago, and a flute.” The rest is musical history. Jethro Tull became one of the most successful groups of their time after their 1968 debut album, “This Was.” Back in 1989, the band won the Grammy Award for Best Hard/Heavy Metal Performance over a heavily-favored Metallica. Across five decades, they’ve released 30 studio and live albums, selling more than 60 million copies worldwide and performed over 3,000 concerts in more than 50 countries, playing 100-plus concerts each year. In early June, a new compilation release from Rhino Records titled “50 for 50,” was released featuring 50 songs drawing from Jethro Tull’s 21 studio albums. Anderson is still entertaining crowds and doing his thing. But these days, he has gone solo. The famous artist still performs Jethro Tull’s music, albeit now with his own band. In honor of the group’s 50th anniversary, he and his band members embarked on a North American tour this past May. They’re playing an amazing selection of Tull’s best-known works, and excited fans everywhere have been flocking to their sold-out performances. In the coming months, you and your friends will have the opportunity to hear the band once again and experience a memorable performance at Forest Hills Stadium — New York City’s wildly popular sporting and entertainment venue located in Forest Hills — on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019. Tickets are now on sale to the public. (For more information, visit ForestHillsStadium.com). The anniversary concert will feature a broad mix of material, some of it focusing on the earlier formative period through to the “heavy hitters” of the Tull catalogue from the their biggest records and even a touch of 2012’s “TAAB2.” Ian Anderson is accompanied by Tull band musicians David Goodier (bass), John O’Hara (keyboards), Florian Opahle (guitar), Scott Hammond (drums) and surprise virtual guests. In addition to the tour, look for “the excellent special edition of the Steven Wilson remix and remastered ‘STORMWATCH,’ now celebrating the 40th Anniversary (with extra material from the sessions and some live concerts),” according to organizers. The official Jethro Tull 50th Anniversary book should be released in the first few months of 2019 (watch www.JethroTull.com for more news). Forest Hills Stadium’s stacked 2019 season line-up also includes an evening with one of the most buzzed-about new rock bands today, Greta Van Fleet, on Saturday, May 25. “Weird Al” Yankovic will perform at the venue with Queens Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, July 20. And My Morning Jacket is set to take the stage Saturday, Aug. 10. Forest Hills Stadium is located just steps from the E, M, F, R subway trains at 71st Ave., as well as the Forest Hills LIRR station. spectator.sme.sk/c/22027977/foreigners-top-10-events-in-bratislava.htmlForeigners: Top 10 events in BratislavaTips for the top 10 events in the capital between January 18 and January 27, plus regular services in different languages, training, temporary exhibitions and highlights of the year. Jethro Tull
HANT Aréna, Trnavská cesta, Nové Mesto, Friday, January 18, 19:00
Even if their long career stalled at the start of the ‘70s, Jethro Tull would still go down in rock history for one crucial thing: they proved that the flute could be a killer rock ‘n’ roll instrument. Frontman Ian Anderson has wielded the instrument – a favorite among middle-school-band girls and wandering minstrels for almost a thousand years – like a madman onstage, aggressively blowing solos usually reserved for guitars or saxophones. But paired with the band’s era-spanning brand of prog-folk music – expertly displayed on 1971’s breakthrough ‘Aqualung’ album – the flute has become a weapon of mass destruction in Anderson’s hands. Despite the many lineup changes the band has gone through over the years, Jethro Tull’s records have rarely diverted from their ambitious paths. The group infamously won the first-ever Hard Rock/Metal Grammy in 1989, which isn’t as farfetched as detractors claim. Admission: €45 - €55. More info: bit.ly/JethroTullBA.

THE JETHRO TULL GROUP WAS @ HANT ARENA AND BROUGHT 50 YEARS TO THE ROCK STAGE IN BRATISLAVA! LINK Fantastic atmosphere, SOLD OUT Bratislava HANT Arena and enthusiastic audience! This was the celebration of the 50th birthday of the legendary rock band Jethro Tull. Frontman Ian Anderson introduced his 50th anniversary to Ian Anderson Presents, Jethro Tull's 50th Anniversary, and formed the 50th anniversary of Jethro Tull's existence. The legendary singer and composer Peter Nagy, who even met personally with Ian Anderson, did not miss the annual concert. The organizer has prepared special graphics for Jethro Tull fans from the academic painter Petra Kľúčika, which they could buy directly at the concert.
Jethro Tull began the world tour with an annual program since March last year. They started in Denmark, continued in Russia, USA, Canada, Germany, Italy and England. 71-year-old Ian Anderson presented himself in an excellent form, and with the band he set off a two-hour show full of hits. During the long 50-year career, many band members have been in the band who have remembered the band and performed in the video.
"I'm not the man who celebrates birthday parties and anniversaries, but I appreciate all the years spent with Jethro Tull, which are related to travel, visits to many countries and meetings with fans all over the world. And this is the celebration of all 33 band members who were part of Jethro Tull. Those who brought the band to their talents, skills and distinctive musical style both during live performances and in the studio," said Ian Anderson.
Jethro Tull has over 20 studio albums, lots of live albums and compilations. The rock legend was not missed by the singer and composer Peter Nagy, who has been a longtime fan of Jethro Tull.
"I'm glad I could see this concert right now. It was the selection of "Best of the Best", the best of 50 years of Jethro Tull's career. When I was 17, I made a t-shirt with the band's name at home. Ian Anderson performed in unbelievable condition, the band was perfectly matched and presented beautiful arrangements full of musical surprises. Even the best of the "Locomotive Breath" and "Aqualung" bombonies and two of their biggest rock hits. With a great deal of trouble, after a concert for a backstage pass, I went to this legendary musician after signing the album "Aqualung". For 20 years I have it in the CD version as an indelible supply of music. Mr. Ian Anderson willingly wrote me the dedication. What more can I wish for? I dreamed 100 percent! " Peter Nagy was looking forward.

They played a cross with their work22.01.2019 - 16:30 | Tomas Garai Ilustračné foto: SITA/Jozef JakubčoThe first Bratislava concert of a great foreign star in 2019 pleased the lovers of progressive rock. In Hant arena, together with a few thousand audiences, the Jethro Tull legend of this genre celebrated its anniversary. The increased presence of gray long-haired gentlemen with Gandalf's outlook suggested that a musical feast for formerly born was held in the capital. Upon arriving at a place where the concentration of these masters was already very high, I felt a little uncomfortable as the average age of the visitors was about a decade higher. Nevertheless, I was delighted to be attending the fiftieth birthday of this rock legend. I confess that I went a little skeptical at the concert of Jethro Tull . Many of my friends have told me that the band is not far from what it used to be, and the time of the time has greatly undergone its current performances. However, I sat down on a yellow seat, whose design was obviously not consulted with any orthopedics and hoped the band would be pleasantly surprised. And I have to admit, it happened. The first impression of the concert was to open the songs of My Sunday Feeling and Love Story from the 1968 debut of the band. The psychedelic blues set in chronological and dramaturgical terms and attracted even more distracted spectators. The musical conditioner and the gentleness of the ladies on the podium made me feel very surprised. The band watched as a watch, greasy guitar sound, metal bass, and Ian Anderson's unforgettable musicality exploded into the arena's premises. Sound quality surprised me less positively, maybe it was only my worse placement. Later, however, it struck to a better one. Another unpleasant surprise came when the vocals Ian and Anderson and. The musician has never been any Pavarotti, but here intonation leaks more easily. Something in the way of Bob Dylan when he has a worse day. Later on, I learned that there are health problems that have persisted since the 1980s. That's enough time for the band to find a singer and not listen in that direction. But Ian is said to be singing through his musical instrument, so I decided to ignore this shortcoming. Well, there is not so much there anyway. The cross-section of the production and video recordings The band's Leader explained in the introduction that this extraordinary concert will also have encyclopedic value. Not only has the audience attracted the chronological crossover of the entire band, but also the gradual revelation of the identity and function of all 36 musicians who played in the band. The individual states of the concert were also overwhelmed by the compelling video footage of former members or other interesting names from the music industry. The first greeting was the bassist Jeffrey him Hammond and which in the words of Ian joined the band in 1971 to experience the fun and found his true love, that became a painter. But they had met Ianom since school time when they played together in their first band. At the concert he was blues-rock A Song For Jeffrey , where Ian also performed on an oral harmonica. The blues' direction of their beginnings has, incidentally, the conscious influence of country / blues guitarist Michel Abrahams. His stylistic elements, as well as the technique of other band guitarists, was pleasantly interpreted by the youngest member of the Florian Opahle team , who did not miss even Baroque or Renaissance positions. Ian also began to unpack a "pack" of his current musicians. "We were the first drummer to love himself ... and he was able to play long-time drum solos that lasted for hours, days, sometimes weeks, but that's all the past." Drummers in 2019 are no longer playing solo, "the band leader of the current drummer Scott and Hammondand whose reaction did not wait for a long while and the rhythmic-energetic Dharma For One began , in which the first drummer Clive Bunker was the soloist. Another video was sent by Joe Bonamass . "Many artists have made Jethro Tull songs, but they have not always been successful," Ian said. The debut album of the blues-rock guitarist not only included the cover-up of progressive jethro-tulle blues A New Day Yesterday , but it also called. This is a great song in which the band got rid of blues of four-quarter security, showing the new possibilities of this genre. He surprised me by greeting guitarist of Black Sabbath Tony him Iommihim, who, although only for one concert, but also played in Jethro Tull. About the band, the musician mentioned in a conversation that during his co-operation he realized what real working morale was, and he used this experience later in Black Sabbath. The first half of the concert was finished by the band My God from the most famous album, Aqualung (1971). For me, it was an important concert point. Melancholy, questioning, confrontation of faith and the church. It all brought this heavy album. The sound of Ian's guitar gitarle was borne by the incomprehensible musical topline, which defines why bands like Jethro Tull were able to leap over countless good British bands of their time. Seventy years and conceptual work The second part of the concert was in the spirit of the seventies. It was a period of intellectual conceptual albums that often contained less radio-friendly compositions, either in terms of time or complexity. I would like to highlight here the Heavy Horses song from the folk-rock band. In both his text and visualization, he is talking about some world exchanges. The characteristic traction horses slowly overlap with images of heavy farming machines. Similar nostalgic features also featured the only eighth-century Farm On The Freeway . By the way, farming is a very popular theme for the band, as Jethro Tull was an English farming pioneer that brought many innovations to this industry. The second block had a spectacular ending, with two of the band's most famous songs. The Aqualung , which Slash reported as one of the biggest rock bells of all time, played the band very energetically. With a praise, he hires the dense sound of a guitar, making me riff the first riff completely into a rough yellow seat. In the last track, Locomotive Breathe again showed John O'Hara that the blues are hiding behind the look of a sophisticated classic clavirist. The improvised intro has resulted in the most blueprint of a band whose musical character fully corresponds to the title and message of the song. The concert had a lot of fun besides the shortcomings mentioned. Ian Anderson is the genius who has earned his life risk - the exchange of a thirty-thousand-pound guitar for a thirty-pound flute - overwhelmed. Instead of a jovial crazy Scott with a big game, he reminded himself of a gingerbread daddy, but his communication with the audience still emitted a great deal of humor, experience, and typical British humor and insight. There was no problem with his caliber and we did not have to wait for a typical stand on one leg for a long time. The audience's satisfaction was visible, the applause echoed, and at the end of the day, the crowd was leaving a pile of happy faces that would be remembered for a long time in the half-year of this iconic band.
