So far, no pretender to the throne has stepped forward. Ian also plays ethnic flutes and whistles together with acoustic guitar and the mandolin family of instruments, providing the acoustic textures which are an integral part of most of the Tull repertoire. Anderson has so far recorded six diverse albums under his own name during a long career: 1983′s “Walk Into Light”, the flute instrumental “Divinities” album for EMI’s Classical Music Division in 1995 which reached number one in the relevant Billboard chart, and the more acoustic collections of songs, “The Secret Language of Birds,” “Rupi’s Dance,” plus rock albums “Thick As A Brick 2” and now, 2014’s “Homo Erraticus.” In recent years, he has toured more and more as simply Ian Anderson, often with orchestras, string quartets, featured soloists. Most of the concerts scheduled for 2014 will feature “Homo Erraticus” together with an hour of favourites from the Jethro Tull catalogue. Ticket prices: HUF 10,900 - 18,900 Date and time: 19 January 2019, 7 pm Venue: Budapest Congress Center 1123 Budapest, Jagelló út 1-3.

hudba.zoznam.sk/spravy/17-09-2018-jethro-tull-sa-vratia-do-bratislavy-s-fanusikmi-oslavia-50-rokov-na-scene/Jethro Tull returns to Bratislava, with fans celebrating 50 years on stage17.09.2018 - 11:30 | editorial office At the beginning of next year, Bratislava will celebrate more than half a year of the legendary rock band Jethro Tull. Ian Anderson and his teammates will be featured on January 18, 2019 at the Hant Arena. Do not miss a nostalgic evening full of varied music. After the annual release of Songs From The Wood (1977) and Heavy Horses (1978) and the 50's For 50's triple-CD compilation , British rock legend Jethro Tull comes with a great genius for his fans. This year, the band chose this year's Ian Anderson Presents Jethro Tull's 50th Anniversary Tour , which will continue until next year and will not miss Slovakia . "I'm not the man who celebrates birthday parties and anniversaries, but I appreciate all the years spent with Jethro Tull that are related to traveling, visiting many countries, and meeting with fans all over the world, and this is the celebration of all 33 band members, who were once part of Jethro Tull, who brought the band to their talents, skills and distinctive musical style both during live performances and in the studio, join me and the current band and enjoy a nostalgic evening full of diverse music with a cross section by our creation during the fifty years of existence of Jethro Tull, "invites the concert founder member and inherent leader of the band Ian Anderson . The history of the unique Jethro Tull band began to be written in London in 1967, where young Ian Anderson and his friends moved from Scotland. After several changes to the group's name, they decided to act as Jethro Tull, the name of an important English reformer of the 18th century, the inventor of the sowing machine. They too have decided to be reformers in the field of music. The main protagonist of these reforms was despite many personal changes that have been around the entire history of the group, from the very beginning by Ian Anderson. Celebrity personality, creator of the style and distinctive group sound. He has been able to combine several unrelated influences in his compositions. Originally the blues repertoire was enriched with rock, folk, jazz and even old-English fingers, which was adapted to the instrumental cast and the overall sound of the band. This makes Jethro Tull one of the most engaging bands of the world rock scene. The characteristic feature of Anderson's cross-flute play, an instrument in rock music, is unprecedented. Her sound, as well as characteristic Anderson's "singing through the flute", has become one of the group's most distinctive cognitive features. The band became more aware of the group shortly after its inception in 1968, when she performed in the role of Pink Floyd in front of Pink Floyd in the first of a series of benefit open-air concerts in London's Hyde Park. The 50 years that Jethro Tull spent on the stage, they have been recorded in musical history just like the famous band they used to make the pre-Kapel. This is evidenced by numerous awards, including the Grammy Award, thousands of concerts around the world, and dozens of concerts, concert and compilation albums. Among the most striking are Living In The Past (1972), Aqualung (1971), Minstrel In The Gallery (1975), Thick As a Brick (1972) and Songs From The Wood (1977) The symbolism of several styles rolled into a single unmistakable whole, Anderson's musical, compositional and orchestral genius, songs that have become a golden fund of world rock music - all this makes Jethro Tull one of the most progressive and most influential groups of rock history. Do not miss the opportunity to experience a performance composed by Ian Anderson (vocals, flute, acoustic guitar), David Goodier (bass), John O'Hara (keyboards), Florian Opahle (guitar) and Scott Hammond (drums). From March 22nd to March 24th, they will perform in Gong, Ostrava, G1, Brno, and at the Prague Congress Center. ČTK informed Kateřina Dědková today about the organizer. "This tour is a celebration of thirty-three band members who have honored us with their talents during the career." Musicians who contributed Jethro Tull to his talent, skills and style, whether in a recording studio or a concert pod, "said Anderson. Within the nearly two-hour program, there are twenty hits featuring Jethro Tull's career predominantly from the late 1960s to the 1980s. Anderson's famous crossbread player is now accompanied by guitarist Florian Opahle, keyboardist John O'Hara, bass guitarist David Goodier and drummer Scott Hammond. To musicians who have gone through Jethro Tull in the past, they refer to a series of 50th Anniversary Tour concerts as well as retrospective videoprojections including extras from related musicians. Among them are Tony Iommi, Joe Bonamassa, Steve Harris or Slash. Jethro Tull and Anderson in the Czech Republic, with many supporters, perform repeatedly. This year, for example, Jethro Tull performed at Sychrov Castle in Liberec, two years ago, Anderson presented his rock opera, a story of a real historical character that gave the band a name. Jethro Tull was a British agricultural reformer and inventor of the seed drill. The band originally devoted themselves to blues rock. Over the years, her blues elements have subsided in her music. Rolling Stone titled Jethro Tull as "one of the most successful and most progressive rock bands of all time". They have released over 20 studio albums that have earned them 11 gold and five platinum albums.

prague.tv/en/s72/Directory/c200-Nightlife-Music/n15796-Jethro-Tull-playing-three-Czech-showsJETHRO TULL PLAYING THREE CZECH SHOWSIan Anderson’s band will be in Ostrava, Brno and Prague for the 50th anniversary tourBY RAYMOND JOHNSTON - PRAGUE.TV (FOTO: JETHRO TULL) 02.10.2018 07:18 Progressive rock band Jethro Tull will be back in the Czech Republic for three dates on the 50th-anniversary tour. They will be in Prague at the Congress Center on March 24, 2019, and just before that at Gong in Ostrava on March 22 and at BVV in Brno on March 23. Tickets are available from Ticketportal. Nobody in the band ever was named Jethro Tull. The name refers to an 18th-century historical figure involved in agriculture. The frontman is Ian Anderson. For close to a decade he has been touring under his own name but has gone back again to the band’s original name of the anniversary. The lineup has changed often. “This is a celebration of all the 33 band members who graced our ranks – musicians who brought their talents, skills and styles to bear on the performances live and in the studio,” Ian Anderson said when the tour was announced. The current lineup includes guitarist Florian Opahle, keyboardist John O'Hara, bass guitarist David Goodier and drummer Scott Hammond. Video messages from Tony Iommi, Joe Bonamassa, Steve Harris, Joe Elliott and Slash are projected during the show. The Czech dates come late in the anniversary tour, which began in the UK in April 2018. It was on Feb. 2, 1968, at the Marquee Club in London that Jethro Tull first performed under that name. The debut album, This Was, came out later that same year. Ian Anderson is credited with introducing the flute to rock as a lead instrument. The anniversary concerts feature a broad mix of material, from the earlier formative period through to the “heavy hitters” of the Tull catalog from the albums This Was, Stand Up, Benefit, Aqualung, Thick As A Brick, Too Old To Rock And Roll: Too Young To Die, Songs From The Wood, Heavy Horses, Crest Of A Knave and TAAB2 from 2012, the band said in a press release. Almost 20 songs are included in the two-hour show made of two sets and an encore. “Songs From the Wood,” “Aqualung” and “Farm on the Freeway” have been in every show so far on the anniversary tour. Others like “Living in the Past” and a cover of Henry VIII’s tune “Pastime With Good Company” turn up more sporadically. Ian Anderson was last in Prague in 2016 with Jethro Tull: The Rock Opera, which worked songs into a narrative with a video projection. He has also been here with an orchestra in 2015 and 2011, to play the album Thick as a Brick in 2013 and a Christmas show in 2009. Different lineups of Jethro Tull have played Prague nine times since 1991, including a 40th-anniversary tour in 2008. For more information visit www.facebook.com/events.

And although Jethro Tull with its wide musical spectrum, which includes influences from folk, blues and classical music as well as heavy rock, always denied the mainstream. Frequent change of occupation The music of the group, whose members changed many times over the years, was significantly influenced by their frontman Ian Anderson, who deserves the merit of bringing the flute as a main instrument in rock music. The 71-year-old Scot and Grammy Award winner had always been self-willed : he refused the invitation to perform in Woodstock because he did not like hippies. And that the band named after the inventor of modern agriculture, even then some Rock fans would have seemed strange. Playing on one leg Nevertheless, Jethro Tull moved like a force of nature across the music scene. Already the band's second album reached number one on the British charts. Recall that Ian Anderson returns to Italy after having already been in our country last summer , when he performed for five concerts, demonstrating that Italy is a country that has always welcomed the flute and melodies of the British band with great enthusiasm. Dominated by a perfectionist leader, and like all the unsympathetic and surly perfectionists like Ian Anderson, Jethro Tull have written exceptional albums, reaching fame with records like Aqualung or Thick as a Brick , just to name two. The support band The band several times during his career has been remodeled and has often changed his training. For the tour leader Ian Anderson will be accompanied by bassist David Goodier, keyboardist John O'Hara, guitarist Florian Ophale, drummer Scott Hammond and what is announced as a "virtual" surprise guest. Ian Anderson admits he does not love anniversaries and parties but in view of the fifty years he made an exception: the tour, according to what he said the singer and flutist, is an opportunity to celebrate all the thirty-three musicians who collaborated with him and with Jethro Tull in these very long years. www.rockol.it/news-697142/jethro-tull-tre-concerti-italia-nel-mese-marzo-biglietti?refresh_ceNEWS | PROG / 09/11/2018 Jethro Tull, three concerts in Italy in March - TICKETSIf the box set "That Was: 50th Anniversary Edition" , released today, is destined to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of Jethro Tull's debut album, "This Was", released in 1968, the "50th Anniversary Tour", whose new dates have just been announced by the presentation led by Ian Anderson , will see the band celebrate on the international stage another important anniversary, that of the first performance of the band under the name Jethro Tull, occurred on February 2, 1968 at the Marquee Club in London. www.brooklynvegan.com/jethro-tull-add-more-50th-anniversary-dates-including-forest-hills-stadium/Jethro Tull add more 50th anniversary dates, including Forest Hills Stadium By Andrew Sacher December 10, 2018 11:04 AM photo by Travis LatamJethro Tull (with Ian Anderson as the only original and/or longtime member) went on a 50th anniversary tour earlier this year, and they’ve now extended that tour through September 2019. “In the USA – many would argue – 2019 is really the 50th Anniversary for US fans since we first visited in early 1969,” Ian said. The band went through tons of lineup changes over the years, but they sort of officially “broke up” when Ian parted ways with Tull’s other constant member, guitarist Martin Barre, in 2012. Martin said, “It’s important that people realize there will never be a Jethro Tull again. There will be two solo bands: the Ian Anderson Band and the Martin Barre Band,” and in a 2017 interview he shot down any hopes for a reunion: “We don’t communicate and we’re very established in our minds that we’ve gone separate ways.” Earlier this year, Ian “re-activated” Jethro Tull for the 50th anniversary with the members of his solo band backing him (technically billed as “Ian Anderson Presents Jethro Tull”), and that’s the version of the band who will be on the road throughout 2019. The tour includes a big NYC show on September 14 at Forest Hills Stadium. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (12/14) at 10 AM. Ian also has some other shows billed as “Jethro Tull performed by Ian Anderson.” All dates are listed, with a video of the current Tull lineup playing the classic “Aqualung” in LA earlier this year, below. bravewords.com/news/ian-anderson-continues-50-years-of-jethro-tull-new-us-tour-dates-announcedIAN ANDERSON CONTINUES 50 YEARS OF JETHRO TULL; NEW US TOUR DATES ANNOUNCEDDecember 12, 2018, 10 hours ago Ian Anderson’s 50 Years Of Jethro Tull continues in 2019 with tours confirmed in the United States and Europe. Concerts in the States in March, July, and September with confirmed concerts on both coasts in New Jersey, New York, Maryland, New England, and California. It was on the 2nd of February 1968 at the world-famous Marquee Club in Wardour Street that Jethro Tull first performed under that name. The group would go on to become one of the most successful and enduring bands of their era, selling over 60 million albums worldwide and entering the cultural collective consciousness along the way, playing their first concerts in North America in November and December 1969! Founder, frontman and flautist, Ian Anderson is rightly credited with introducing the flute to rock as a front line instrument, not to mention the codpiece! Jethro Tull are one of the biggest selling progressive rock artists of all time, and the group’s immense and diverse catalogue of work encompasses folk, blues, classical and heavy rock stylings. The anniversary concerts will feature a broad mix of material, some of it focussing on the earlier formative period through to the “heavy hitters” of the Tull catalogue from the albums: This Was, Stand Up, Benefit, Aqualung, Thick As A Brick, Too Old To Rock And Roll: Too Young To Die, Songs From The Wood, Heavy Horses, Crest Of A Knave and even a touch of TAAB2 from 2012. Anderson says, “We continue to present the 50th Anniversary concerts in many countries and regions not visited in 2018, and also many Tull repertoire shows in Europe. There will be, of course, my usual charitable cathedral and church concerts in December. In the USA - many would argue - 2019 is really the 50th Anniversary for US fans since we first visited in early 1969.” Ian Anderson is accompanied by Tull band musicians David Goodier (bass), John O'Hara (keyboards), Florian Opahle (guitar), Scott Hammond (drums) and surprise virtual guests. In addition to the tour, look for “the excellent special edition of the Steven Wilson remix and remastered Stormwatch, now celebrating the 40th Anniversary (with extra material from the sessions and some live concerts).” The official Tull 50th Anniversary book should be released in the first few months of 2019 - watch JethroTull.com for more news. Pretty certain the California concerts in July will be almost exact same set and set up as the three I saw last May/June. Musn't grumble....well, a little if they have indeed retired the Passion Play bit.
