Sad news indeed. An excellent human being and a first class Tull fan and Rock and Roll man. I only met him once but between that and our online interactions, public and private, I can say with confidence that he was a unique, admirable, wonderful person. I am glad he retired when he did and had some golden years, albeit too few, for family and Tull world. I hope his family takes some comfort and joy in his huge public persona, admired and loved. Graham will be eternally missed among our tribe. I'm getting sadder and sadder just writing this. 'The song ends too soon for us all'. Goodbye Maddogfagin....Cheerio.

12 years ago I was taken aback when Graham asked me to be a moderator here on the forum. I was very apprehensive at taking on the roll but Graham guided me through all the day to day running and with nonrabbit and steelmonkey's encouragement, I decided to give it a go.
Graham knew more about Tull than I could ever imagine and if I ever needed some information on any subject connected to Jethro Tull, Graham was the first person I would ask.
He was a great, kind and generous human being with a vast collection of Tull memorabilia that he often shared with us all.
Graham posted 21,302 here and everyone was a gem.
Like you all, I was very shocked to hear the sad news of Graham's passing but this forum will continue in his lasting memory
I had a message from sealion yesterday who has been a friend of Graham' for donkeys years and he told me he was going to play this song and think of Graham.

A lovely tribute and a lovely choice of song.
Graham was a gentleman and so kind. He would call me in the morning when he noticed that I'd logged on to the Forum. We would talk about anything that needed done and also about Cornwall where he lived, and his Scottish ancestry. He was the best 'Tull person/expert' that I knew but didn't take it - and himself, too seriously. I'll miss his quiet chuckles and all the conversations that we had both virtual and real.
This Forum is Graham/ Maddogfagin's legacy for all Tull fans.

I have not been around much lately, but when I check in, I always check first to see how Maddog is doing. I was shocked to hear of his passing yesterday, so much so that, I couldn`t respond until today. I never meet Maddog or any of the moderators and members of this great forum, but I feel as if I lost a member of my family. I knew that he had fallen, but I never knew why or that it was as serious as it was. As we all get older, the possibility of days like this increase, so please take care of yourselves and make the most of each day together. My deepest condolences to Graham`s family and friends at this difficult time. Knowing that Graham had such a positive effect for so many people around the world, I hope is of some comfort. Our Father high in Heaven, has smiled down upon His son....RIP Graham Steelmonkey was right.......the tune ends to soon for us all

This past weekend was the annual Tullianos Convention, I got to my brother's house very late to sleep and I didn't look at the phone, I was honestly exhausted and fell asleep. When I woke up in the morning I checked my phone and was surprised to see a message from Bernie (steelmonkey), a good friend beyond forums and fan clubs. When I read his message I didn't want to believe it, so I copied the text and put it in the translator: "The song ends for us all. Maddog (Graham) died. I was lucky to meet him in 1989." I couldn't help but shed some tears, Graham had left us, I felt bad, when others closed the doors to me Graham opened them for me, for a while I was able to enjoy this forum, Graham's forum, I was able to enjoy his wisdom not only about Tull He also gave me life advice and supported me when my back broke. It took me a long time to write these words, I am a sensitive person...
Graham, you will always have a place of honor in my heart. See you soon Graham, but not yet, not yet. My condolences to the family and friends of the forum and outside the forum.

Upon receiving the news of Graham's death, I communicated it to the president of Tullianos, Albert Villanueva and we agreed, we must make a post on behalf of Tullianos, those who have visited our page will know that for us there is only one forum, The Jethro Tull Forum, and a link to this forum and only this one. From Tullianos we want to send our most sincere condolences to Graham's family and friends and to all the members of this forum. Your legacy will always be with us, in the next convention your name will resonate in the speakers of the auditorium in the introductory words of our president together with the musicians and friends of Tullianos who have left us by law of life. See you forever Graham, you will always be with us, we are waiting for you at the next Tullianos Convention, we are sure you will be there with us. Remy on behalf of Tullianos (Spanish Jethro Tull Fan Club)

Hi Ron, I posted a sympathy card to Graham's wife on Monday and as well as writing how sad myself and the other moderators were on hearing the dreadful news of Graham's passing, I added "Sincere condolences from all members of The Jethro Tull Forum."

Very sad to hear the news about Graham. I never had the chance to meet him but he was always very knowledgeable and helpful about all things Tull. You could tell he was very passionate fan of the group.
Many thanks to Bunkerfan for passing on the groups condolences to his family.

I spoke with Col and he sends his sympathy to Graham's family and to the Forum.
We spoke about the early days when he stepped down and Graham took over.
Col said
"He (Graham) was much better suited to running it"
And so right he was.

I've only just seen this dreadful news and I am deeply shocked to hear it. Graham Maisey was a true legend within Tull fandom. I have hazy recollections of many a beer fuelled night with Graham and others, mostly but not always at Tull gigs. The best of these nights usually involved our good friend Michael Veith who himself passed away a few years back. Graham was hugely instrumental in the organisation of all of the UK Jethro Tull Conventions, and was a huge help to me for the two that I put on. So thank you Graham and I'll be building a little fire this midnight to your memory. Condolences to Graham's family and friends and to all who knew him through this forum. Go well old friend.
Zob.

Since the very sad news that Graham/maddogfagin had died I've been searching for this photo below and I'm so glad I've finally found it.
It's heartwarming to know that during his life Graham was lucky enough to have met Ian face to face.

A beautiful eulogy for our much-missed Graham from his friend, Peter Twitchett. Graham on the rightWhat do you say about a man who was a part of your life for 50 years? Graham Maisey, a stalwart of Croydon Folk Club, struck a commanding figure yet was one of nature’s gentlemen and I shall remember him with great affection. I first met Graham when he was singing with the group Garden Party in the Scandis Coffee Bar in Croydon. I can even remember the date: 7 January 1972. Subsequently Garden Party (Graham, Mick Longhurst and Dave Greenough) turned up at the Waddon hotel, where I was running a weekly folk club. They settled in so well that they soon became resident singers and good friends. The residency was a role that Graham kept on when the rest of the group moved away. We then ran the club together until I moved away from the area. He maintained his role at the club until he too moved away, leaving the club in the capable hands of Rita Cherriman. He was an accomplished singer and guitar player who always picked interesting songs to entertain an audience. He was a longtime resident of the Croydon Folksong Club, the design editor of the Penny Dreadful folk magazine and a member of the Waddon Mummers. A highlight here was the Mitcham Mummer’s Play, which was mainly ad-libbing, keeping loosely to the plot! He was heavily involved in the folk world in south London as a member of Garden Party and later Bikki Tockit with Mick Scott and Roger Wheble. Graham’s skill as a graphic artist was put to good use in producing camera-ready layouts of the Penny Dreadful for professional printing. In addition he was a broadcaster on Woolwich and St Helier Hospital Radio. He was also a long time fan of Jethro Tull and was the administrator of their online forum. We not only ran Croydon Folksong Club together but we shared car rides, gigs and folk festivals. He was a genial man, ably supported by his wife, Eileen, and daughter. He had a wicked sense of humour that he used without causing offence. One club regular enjoyed him singing Whip Jamboree. Unfortunately she could never join in the chorus at the right time. So it went “Whip (whip) jamboree” etc. Graham always played on this delay with a perfectly straight face. Also, if you dared to sing When The Old Dun Cow Caught Fire, instead of shouting “MacIntyre” he would shout out something like “Mönchengladbach!” Heady stuff. He later moved to Cornwall with his family, where he was very happy. However, he suffered with ill health as time went on. A stroke meant he found it difficult to play the guitar, but he began again at his youngest granddaughter’s insistence. She had just bought a nylon-strung guitar and needed some guidance. Graham, being Graham, got his guitar out of its case, put new strings on it and started practising. Graham, you will be greatly missed by all those who know and love you. I shall remember him with great affection. Graham Maisey, born 1948; died 1 July 2022. I used to have an image of us four Mods sitting in an office in the Gatehouse of Tull Towers. Probably a turret.
The property's rent didn't come cheap and crikey, nor did we look forward to the yearly meeting with the Landowner (!). Still, it was comfortable - with bookshelves full of music books, old, worn cushions (cast-off from the big house) and surrounded by a luscious garden, albeit a bit out of the way.
It was set in the 50s/60s (morphing into an Ealing film), with Graham - the Tull Sage - puffing on a pipe and answering any question that came in about Tull.
I tapped away on the typewriter ( it hummed..) and brewed countless pots of tea ( 1950’s office lady) with a cake treat on a Friday. "Oh no, I mustn't."
When we weren’t all around a table in deep discussion, John entertained us by playing the drums ( in the garden), and Bernie - 'The American' - entertained us with his quickfire humour and tales of his many adventures in far-flung places - and Tull concerts.
We were a team with Graham at the helm.
Thank you to John, Bernie and Jim, who’s kept Graham’s Forum ongoing and updated us with everything Tull and entertaining.
Graham's extensive knowledge, warmth, and charm can be witnessed here in the Forum.
Enjoy!!
