I first met Scott Green back in 1989 when he and his brother Kenny travelled to the UK for the Rock Island tour - Scott bought a kilt in Inverness as I recall. Graham Smith (Sealion) and I hired a VW camper van and made the complete tour starting at Inverness and finishing in London along with the Scott brothers and quite a few like minded fans.
On the face of it this 2018 Convention sounds like a cracking way to celebrate the 50th anniversary.

50 Years of Jethro Tull Convention and Party
Join other Tull fanatics for a 2 day love fest of all things Jethro. The 2 day event (exact schedule TBA) will coincide with legendary Tull guitarist Martin Barre and his band playing 2 gigs at the site of the convention: Daryl’s House in Pawling N.Y. Martin will be performing Friday and Saturday night and the convention/party will be Saturday and Sunday. As a conventioneer you’ll be entitled to:
• A ticket to one of Martins shows (Friday or Saturday night).
• A great line up of the best Jethro Tull tribute bands anywhere….. (War Child, Heresy, Johnny Scarecrow, Minstrels in the Gallery and special guest, Anh Phung with Tullstars)
• The ultimate Tull poll and group discussion. (What’s your most under rated album?)
• The Jethro Tull Trivia Quiz Show, hosted by Aqualung and Cross Eyed Mary.
• On Saturday afternoon an hour long question and answer segment with Martin Barre.
• 2 buffet lunches at Daryl’s House. A cash bar will be available.
• Tull Karaoke at the hotel.
• The best Tull costume contest.
• 200 Kazoos playing Aqualung. (Maybe we could get someone to play the guitar solo for us)
• A Goody bag full of gifts and prizes for the contest winners.
• Videos, vendors and the clincher…
• Martin will close the convention with a one hour set of acoustic Tull for the conventioneers only at 4PM.
• A weekend of nothing but Jethro Tull…..
The fee to attend if you sign up before April 15, 2018 is just $350. After April 1 it jumps to $395 and all party goers must be signed up by June 1, 2018.
We have a block of rooms set aside at the rate of $124 per night at the Crowne Plaza in Danbury (20 minutes from the gig) where you’ll check in Friday night or Saturday morning and get your goody bag, program and schedule. More details to follow soon!
So join us for a great weekend in upstate New York during peak fall foliage season and celebrate 50 years of one of the greatest bands of all time……Jethro Tull!
About your host - Scott Green:
Since his first Jethro Tull concert in 1970 as a 15 year old until today, Scott has been a devoted Tull fanatic. Along with his brother Kenny they have seen over 175 Jethro Tull concerts, gone on numerous multi day road trips, travelled overseas to the see the band and have bought every vinyl, 8 track, cassette tape, CD, DVD, Blue Ray and boxed set ever offered by the band. Throw in the 200 underground tapes and cd’s and it’s quite a collection.
Scott’s 17th birthday was spent watching Thick as a Brick from the front row in the West Palm Beach Auditorium. He’s seen every tour since that date. He and Ken were featured in a Rolling Stone interview about over the top obsessive fans and Scott even got to play air guitar one night on stage during the song “Jump Start” at the Nassau Coliseum.
Their devotion to Tull is up there with the most fervent fans across the globe.
Since 2004, Scott has been a very successful baseball event planner with his business, Play at the Plate which organizes and runs baseball trips at Major League Parks, Spring Training Camps and fields of interest for the hard core baseball fan. His company is the only one ever allowed to play in both Fenway Park and Wrigley Field. From 2010 until 2017 Scott was chosen by Major League Baseball to run their corporate fantasy camp in conjunction with Master Card in the host city at the yearly All Star game.
His reputation in the baseball world is sterling.
He now will devote his attention to detail and customer satisfaction to organizing and running the upcoming 50 Years of Tull Convention and Party this October 13-14th in Pawling New York at Daryl’s House coinciding with Tull guitarist Martin Barres 2 gigs there.
The goal of this event is to bring like-minded individuals together to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Jethro Tull - not to make a profit. Once all expenses are met, Scott will make a charitible donation.
