www.reggionline.com/ian-anderson-andrea-griminelli-concerto-400-anni-della-ghiara/Ian Anderson and Andrea Griminelli in concert for the 400 years of the GhiaraOctober 24, 2018 Appointment Thursday, December 13 with the historic leader of Jethro Tull and the great flautist of Reggio. Both have renounced all compensation. Receipt for charity. Rotary's commitment REGGIO EMILIA - Thursday, December 13th at 9 pm, in the splendid scenery of the Basilica della Ghiara, Ian Anderson, the most famous rock flutist of all time, historical leader of the legendary Jethro Tull, will perform with his band the concert "The Christmas Jethro Tull" . Guest of honor the great Reggio Emilia flautist Andrea Griminelli. At the organ of the Basilica the maestro Renato Negri. A special event, in a special setting, for which the artists have renounced any compensation. The concert is beneficial and the Rotary Club of Reggio Emilia Val di Secchia, organizing body, will donate all proceeds to the celebrations of the 400th anniversary of the Basilica of Reggio Emilia, which will take place from April to December 2019, to remind us that on May 12, 1619 the miraculous fresco depicting the Blessed Virgin of the Ghiara was moved from the wall of the old convent of the fathers served to the new altar in the magnificent newly built sanctuary, with the contemporary inauguration of the Temple. Also the other Rotary reggiani will contribute to the service. The final repertoire of the evening will remain a surprise until the last, but surely Anderson will at least partially follow the playlist of his usual Christmas benefits concerts, ranging from English folk, traditional Christmas music, and Jethro's greatest hits. In this case, the presence of Griminelli will add a more classic touch, and the two artists will duet in historical songs by Tull as Bourée (a reworking from Bach) and in other less known, but equally beautiful, as "Griminelli's Lament", a piece composed by Anderson some time ago specifically for the flautist of Reggio. And who knows, maybe Andrea Griminelli will not resist the temptation to support Anderson in the performance of some of the most rocking Jethro songs. But the flutist from Reggio will also perform, by himself, Advance ticket sales on the Vivaticket circuit.

Anderson, the vocalist who plays flute and acoustic guitar, said net income would go to social change initiative Shatil and the Polyphony Foundation, which bridges the divide between Arab and Jewish communities in Israel through classical music. Aged 71, he is the only band member still touring, and will be playing three concerts in Haifa, Tel Aviv and Jerusalem as part of the group’s 50th anniversary, with classics such as Living in the Past, The Witch’s Promise and Bungle in the Jungle. Shatil is supported by the New Israel Fund, whose UK chief executive Adam Ognall paid tribute to the band’s announcement. “Ian Anderson and Jethro Tull make a profound statement of support for our work and the values of democracy and equality,” he said. “Their actions stand in contrast to those artists more concerned with posturing that helping contribute to lasting solutions that benefit Israelis and Palestinians alike.”

Very proud to be an Ian Anderson fan and sad that I cannot manifest my destiny as a 'Jew for Jethro' and see him perform in Israel. This really addresses the hater who say 'Don't tour Israel'. Do we, In the USA, deserve any visit from musicians from other countries, during the Trump era? 3000 human beings are coming fro Central America, where they cannot live without gang violence and exploitation by corrupt police...and Trump imagines 'middle-easterners' among them ? Too crazy for words.

No rules, no vetting, let everyone in. There goes the blue wave... make way for the red tsunami.

BY AMY SPIRO OCTOBER 28, 2018 23:13 Ian Anderson, the lead singer of rock band Jethro Tull, Wikipedia Festivalsommer. (photo credit: SVEN MANDEL)Ian Anderson, the lead singer of rock band Jethro Tull, will once again be donating his earnings from his four concerts in Israel to progressive Jewish groups. Anderson, who played in Haifa and Tel Aviv last week and is set to perform in Jerusalem on Sunday evening, will be giving his proceeds from these shows to two organizations: Shatil and the Polyphony Foundation. “We are happy and excited to receive Ian Anderson’s contribution, along with the Polyphony Foundation, and we thank him warmly,” said New Israel Fund director Mickey Gitzin in a statement Sunday. “His support for the work we do is an important statement by an international artist, and shows a deep commitment. We encourage more international artists to come to Israel, to excite the Israeli public and to donate to the activities of human rights, equality and democracy.” This marks at least the third time that Anderson has visited Israel and donated the proceeds to charitable organizations. In 2010, he pledged to give his earnings from three shows to “bodies representing the development of peaceful co-existence between Muslims, Jews and Christians, and the fostering of better Palestinian/Israeli relations.” In an interview that year with The Jerusalem Post’s David Brinn, Anderson said it was an easy decision. “These things don’t make me feel particularly good or saintly, it was just one of those things you do from time to time, like most people in my position,” he said. “We’re not talking about millions of dollars here, we’re talking about a few thousand – after all, it’s three little concerts in Israel.” At the time he donated to three non-profits dedicated to coexistence: Hand in Hand, Peace Child Israel and Neveh Shalom/Wahat al-Salam. And in 2012, he did the same after his three shows in Israel. “I don’t let those people bully me and tell me where to play, I make my own decisions,” he told Brinn in a 2012 interview. “The fact that I might choose not to benefit financially from my performances and donate my earnings is my own decision as well.” www.haaretz.com/israel-news/.premium-jethro-tull-lead-vocalist-to-donate-income-from-performances-in-israel-to-nif-1.6601603Jethro Tull Lead Vocalist to Donate Income From Performances in Israel to NIF'I believe this will give hope to a younger generation and fulfill the values of a communal life,' said the leader of the veteran group in an announcement made in his name Itay Stern Oct 29, 2018 4:31 AM Ian Anderson, the lead vocalist in the British rock band Jethro Tull, announced that he would donate the revenue from his last three shows in Israel to Shatil, the executive branch of the New Israel Fund and to the Polyphony Foundation, a human rights organization which fosters ties between Arabs and Jews. “I believe this will give hope to a younger generation and fulfill the values of a communal life,” said the leader of the veteran group in an announcement made in his name. The donation to Shatil and the NIF, it says, will be given as part of his support of human rights, while his donation to Polyphony will be given for its activities in bringing together Jews and Arabs in Israel through classical music. Anderson, who is known for his unique style of playing the flute, performed while standing on one foot, is in the midst of a worldwide tour commemorating 50 years since the band’s formation. He performed in Jerusalem on Sunday night at the International Conference Center. On Saturday he performed at Tel Aviv’s Heichal HaTarbut concert hall and last Thursday he gave a show at Haifa’s Congress Center. Mickey Gitzin, the New Israel Fund’s director, said in response that “we are happy and excited to receive a donation by Ian Anderson, together with the Polyphony Foundation, and we thank him warmly. His support for the work we do is an important statement by an international performing artist, showing a deep commitment. We encourage other international artists to come to Israel, excite the local audience and contribute to the pursuit of human rights, equality and democracy.” This is not the first time Anderson has donated his income from his many performances in Israel to organizations that support Jewish-Arab coexistence. In 2010, even though the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement asked him to cancel his shows here, he declared that he preferred holding them and contributing his revenues to civic organizations that promote values of peace and fraternity.

elpais.com/cultura/2018/11/04/actualidad/1541326363_461958.html50 years of Jethro Tull, a voice that is exhausted (and is literal)Ian Anderson celebrates an admirable anniversary with great songs, but a very diminished throat Madrid 4 NOV 2018 - 16:01 Ian Anderson, leader of Jethro Tull, along with his training, in a performance in 2013 in Madrid. CLAUDIO ÁLVAREZ
It's hard not to feel nostalgic before a band like Jethro Tull, capable of delivering 11 albums in its first decade of existence (from 1968 to 1978) that we can only consider, with the perspective of time, between notable and exceptional. Perhaps the first nostalgic is Ian Anderson himself , who from Stormwatch (1979) was sold out, we suspect that forever, creative petrol. And that in recent years has been losing voice and tessitura at times agonizing, especially when faced with the sharp phrases of his great work Thick as a brick (1972) and what succeeds in emitting his throat is a staccato babble , agonizing and difficult to recognize. Anderson celebrated this Saturday in Madrid the fiftieth anniversary of his fabulous creature, which is dizzying figure, and in the Municipal Conference Hall had run out until the last entry many weeks ago, because the sacred cows are well worth veneration and it is never clear if there will be many more occasions to honor them. The Scottish singer and flautist takes to heart with a show rich in dedications and archive material, but above all fascinating in a repertoire not always subject to the tyranny of the greatest hits. Especially for its startup, which provides up to five pieces of that debut album, This Was (1968), then much closer to the blues than the later and emblematic progressive delusions. Along with the fabulous psychedelia of A Song For Jeffrey, Ian recovers even an absolute rarity, Love Song , discard by which anyone would have sold his soul to Lucifer. These 50 years have given Anderson a lot; above all, so that a leader of rows of personality, probably as strenuous as his own, counted up to 36! bandmates. None of his four current cronies provides pedigree, but solvency; the same that he shows with his everlasting flute, in addition to the harmonica and the acoustic guitar, which he draws for the controversial day My God (from his other inescapable album, Aqualung , 1971). "They censored it in their day in the United States, but it was because they did not read the lyrics properly," he admonished sarcastically. Missed the opportunity to note that Aqualung, in its entirety, it was outlawed in Spain until 1976, once the still dweller of our most fateful Valley had already died. The excellence of the repertoire collides with its limitations, alleviated after the break by all kinds of tricks The absolute protagonist of this half-century of history today adds 71 years and retains the most curious sound with buccal percussion of his flute or that iconic picture of the left leg flexed in the air while playing the instrument. But the excellence of the repertoire collides with its limitations, alleviated after the rest by means of all kinds of tricks: an irrelevant instrumental ( Pastime With Good Company ), a piece that they assume between keyboardist and bassist (David Goodier) without Ian goal trick ( Ring Out , Solstice Bells ) and a heads-up for Farm On The Freewaywith Goodier himself, a man with a piping voice, and see that we were not looking for the joke, which badly fits the spirit of the Tull. To make matters worse, there are even two virtual duos with the giant screen, in Heavy Horses and Aqualung , such that if we attended a musical. Sparks remain, no doubt. And even more with this new guitarist, the German Florian Opahle, who sinks foot and a half into hard rock. That's why the end was so emotional, with Aqualung and the only encore, Locomotive Breath , accompanied by a projection of railroads at full speed that reminds a lot that they used Supertramp for Rudy . But there were more faces of complicity or resignation to the exit than those of euphoria for what was lived. We can feel nostalgia for an epic, scathing, labyrinthine and very rich repertoire. Ian Anderson, who was the one who conceived it until the last note, must feel a much greater nostalgia: that of the times when he was capable of executing it.

lublin.wyborcza.pl/50 years Jethro TullKAMIL GOZDANLegendary group Jethro Tull will play on Sunday at the Center for the Meeting of Cultures. The formation, whose leader is a charismatic vocalist, Ian Anderson, will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its existence in Lublin. Jethro Tull is one of the few bands that have survived so many years. His showcase is the album "Aqualung" from 1971 and the title composition from this album. Musicians Jethro Tull played not only progressive rock and complex suites. Their hallmark was a frequent change of style - from blues to folk and hard rock. The album "Crest of a Knave" from 1987 received the Grammy Award in the category of "the best heavyweight group", which was a great surprise for music critics. The biggest group fans in their discography also have such pearls as "Benefit", "Aqualung", "Thick as a Brick" or "Heavy Horses" - classic today for the music of entertainment. Concert on Sunday at the Center for the Meeting of Cultures at 19. Tickets in the price of PLN 199-249. kurierlubelski.pl/jethro-tull-w-centrum-spotkania-kultur-rockowe-wydarzenie-roku/ar/13651427Jethro Tull at the Center for the Meeting of Cultures. Rock event of the yearDS 9 November 2018 UPDATE: 9 November 2018 08:06 Jethro Tull was an English agronomist who in 1701 constructed an agricultural drill, among others. But when it comes to popularity, he was beaten by another Jethro Tull. Of course, we're talking about a British rock band that was founded in 1967. It's easy to count the team this year celebrates the 50th anniversary. On this occasion in Poland he will appear at three concerts. Luckily, Lublin was on this short list. The performance at the Center for the Meeting of Cultures will be the last part of the Polish edition of the 50th Anniversary Tour. So it is something to be happy about. Another type of rock From the beginning of the band's existence, several or more musicians have passed through it. Even Tony Iommi, guitarist and founder of Black Sabbath, or Phil Collins, known for both his solo career and Genesis, even had their episode in Jethro Tull. The character without whom it is difficult to imagine Jethro Tull, both in terms of the sound of the band and its scenic image, is Ian Anderson. Anderson, the founder and leader, in the first years of his career reached with Jethro Tull mainly for white blues. The debut album of This band from 1968 and the year later Stand Up are kept in such style . On subsequent albums, the band expanded their stylistics to include hard rock and elements of British folk rock. In 1971 Jethro Tull releases "Aqualung". This is one of the most important albums in their achievements. "Aqualung" to some extent has the character of a concept album. In the first part, Anderson sings about the huts, the homeless, the people living on the street, and in the second, he touches on topics related to religion. Here it is worth paying attention to the text layer of Jethro Tull's composition. A good example is the song "My God". Just listen to the first verses: "People, what have you done? You locked him in a golden cage. You made him tied to your religion. He who rose from the grave. Such a God is no one. " From" Aqualung ", the band develops the idea of concept albums on" Thick As a Brick "and" A Passion Play ". Subsequent genetic changes come in the late 80s, when the band releases songs "Songs from the Wood" and "Heavy Horses", which are richly inspired by Scottish folk. Big surprise is the album "Crest of a Knave", for which the band received the Grammy award in the "best heavy metal group" category (he was competing with Metallica then!). This is how Anderson commented on the whole incident: - After all these years I am disappointed that there is still no category for one-legged flutists, because I would win it every year! (reference to Anderson's stage behavior, which often plays on one leg) What can we expect from CSK after all these years? Let's vote for the team leader. - We play the best songs selected from Jethro Tull's albums at concerts. Which sounds the same as in the studio versions, no matter who of these twenty-eight musicians took part in their recording. It is me who gives them a sign of quality, because I created them, I originally sang them and I played flute on them and sometimes on the guitar - he assured in Teraz Rocka.
