www.wn.de/Muensterland/Kreis-Steinfurt/Greven/3393699-Beatclub-Festival-am-18.-August-Ueber-alte-Maenner-und-den-Rock-n-RollBeatclub Festival on the 18th of August About old men and the rock`n`rollGreven - "Physical Graffiti" is referred to as the best Led Zeppelin cover band. At the Beatclub festival on the beach, they will be treated to a special treat. Jethro Tull (in the original) play as "Vorband". By Peter Beckmann Saturday, 14.07.2018, 23:50 "Physical Graffiti" have dedicated themselves to the music of Led Zeppelin and come damn near the grandiose original. Photo: BCOf course, Ian Anderson is not the youngest anymore. On the 10th of August he celebrates his 71st birthday. And the elderly are said to go to bed early. Actually , that's really the case with the frontman of Jethro Tull . Because: When signing the contract for the Beatclub Festival, the man insisted on playing the flute as the first band. And that's why the band gets "Physical Graffiti", which is based on the double album of the band Led Zeppelin , a very unusual opening band on August 18th at the Beatclub Festival. And that's a good thing, according to Franz-Walter Lanwer, who has signed up as a band scout "Physical Graffiti". "Tull bring more progressive stories with complicated rhythms on the stage, with Physical Graffiti it then goes straight forward." Sure, because musically belonged Led Zeppelin to the pioneers of Hard Rock, Blues Rock, Progressive Rock and the then burgeoning Heavy Metal , "That works out really well." He has not seen the cover band live yet. But: He has heard concert excerpts on Youtube - and was thrilled. Rightly so. Page and Plant would be happy about their "imitators". Just as Andrew Elt sings and moans at Kashmir, that has something and is close to the original. A gifted guitarist, a wonderful drummer, and two musicians who replace John Paul Jones on bass and keys - terrific. The band comes from Holland, which is also noticeable in the pre-orders. "There are a lot of requests from Holland," says Albert Sahle, chairman of Beatclub Greven. As many as 1700 tickets have already gone over the table in advance. Sounds like a record. Incidentally, between the appearances of Jethro Tull and Physical Graffiti there is a fireworks display this year. "It's finally an anniversary, it's the tenth Beatclub festival," explains Albert Sahle. Oh yes, there is something else. "We will do everything technically possible again this year so that it does not get too loud for the neighborhood," explains Beatclub Vice-Rector Wietkamp. There are the most amazing techniques in which you fight sounds with noise. But: At the latest Led Zeppelin must be loud, gouty loud.

www.molfettalive.it/news/cultura/738180/i-jethro-tull-inaugurano-la-stagione-estiva-di-concertiThe first concert is an unexpected successJethro Tull inaugurate the summer concert seasonThe group led by Ian Anderson unleashes Banchina San Domenico, which comes back in years CULTURE Molfetta Wednesday, July 18, 2018 by Adriano Failli C for years in the name of music and the location of Banchina San Domenico, in the heart of Molfetta to celebrate them. So the Jethro Tull, a historic British rock band, officially opened the dances of their summer tour to celebrate the half century of activity. The band reunited after finding themselves in inactive conditions in 2011 and it seems that the choice was the right choice, according to the warm public who answered numerous at the first event of the series of concerts in Molfetta. Four events all condensed in a week, with the music show of yesterday to act as a trailblazer, while tomorrow will change completely genre with the highly anticipated concert of Ermal Meta, fresh winner with Fabrizio Moro of Sanremo 2018. To close the quartet of events , over the weekend, will be Pat Metheny and Joe Satriani. Then in August, it will be up to Fiorella Mannoia. Jethro Tull's was probably the most niche name in the entire program of musical events, yet the response of the audience was most surprising. Many have crowded Banchina San Domenico, many coming from outside Molfetta and someone even from outside Italy. All to welcome the band led by Ian Anderson, the iconic figure of rock in the 60s and 70s, who with his flute and the very special tone of voice, impeccably held the two hours of concert, at the youngest age of 71 years. A test of stubbornness and skill that has left the audience amazed. Anderson danced nonchalantly, waving to the rhythm of music like a little elf, a musical prodigy that enchanted the thousands of fans who came to the suggestive location of the Porto Molfettese. A public certainly not very young, although I have also surprised the participation of many guys, who was able to unleash and came back in years, when the iconic group hits were heard on old LPs, turntables and parties, while on the night of yesterday they played live, far from England and in a city of Puglia, still impeccably, intact, against the passing of the years.

www.dire.it/20-07-2018/222099-50-anni-jethro-tull-roma-ian-anderson/50 years of Jethro Tull: in Rome the magic flute by Ian Anderson ROME - Different generations, a unique attraction. He, the progressive rock elf , is still in extraordinary form. Ian Anderson still thrills, with his voice, with his music, with his magic flute, with his famous, historical posture of the flamingo. Rome welcomed her Jethro Tull , pampered, listened to and loved, today as 47 years ago when they conquered the world's interest with Aqualung, the Locomotive Breath album. At around 9:20 pm, a journey began in the 50-year history of this eternal British band . An hour and a half, in front of a cavea of the Auditorium Parco della Musica full in every order of seats, occupied by whole generations of music lovers: there was a couple of grandparents with a granddaughter who had less than 10 years; there was the young engaged couple, in which she carefully listened to the band's story from him. And then many representatives of the time that Jethro Tull saw them born, grow up to become an incredible reality, in a time when it was certainly not easy to make space, among the Yes, the Pink Floyd , the Rolling Stones, the King Krimson, the Genesis. Essential set design, just a big screen behind Ian Anderson, who has projected a TV on the world Jethro Tull, in which before each song in video a character related to their story, or simply a musician passionate about their myth (Tony Iommi dei Black Sabbath and Slash from Guns N 'Roses) asked to play one of their many masterpieces. After My Sunday Feeling is an ascent to the history of this band: Bouree, the instrumental piece that is a rearrangement by Ian Anderson of the Bach Suite, A Song for Jeffrey, Thick as a Brick, Some Day The Sun Won ' t Shine For You, Too Old to Rock 'n' Roll, Too Young to Die, to the inevitable, enthralling, historical Lokomotiv Breath, led by Ian Anderson's magic flute, which closed the concert. Just before the encore, just a few minutes, deserved, stop.

The absolute protagonist is the Scottish Ian Anderson, founder and singer with a unique feature for a rock band of the seventies: his main instrument is in fact the transverse flute, acquired thanks to a youthful barter with an electric guitar. It is the beginning of a unique sound - progressive in folk blues colors: to understand just listen to "Aqualung", a masterpiece of 1971 and the top of the production - and the beginning of a band that arrives tomorrow on the stage of the San Gallop Racecourse Siro (Piazzale dello Sport 16, entrance from Via Diomede 1, 21 hours, 39 euros) to celebrate 50 years. Next to the leader Anderson there will be the latest version (summarize the various training changes would require a space apart) of Jethro Tull: David Goodier on bass, John O'Hara on keyboards, Florian Opahle on guitar and Scott Hammond on drums. The lineup of the concert does not make any discounts: the best tracks are all there and there are also video contributions by fellow music fans of Anderson.

www.seidifirenzese.it/2018/07/25/jethro-tull-firenze/YESTERDAY, JETHRO TULL FOR 50 YEARS IN CONCERT IN FLORENCE GRAZIANO DAVOLIJULY 25, 2018EVENTS On the occasion of their fiftieth anniversary, the Jethro Tull enchant the Musart festival in Florence Tuesday, July 24th, Florence. It is 9:15 pm in Piazza Santissima Annunziata. There is a TV set of those old wooden TVs , dating back to the 50s or 60s. Suddenly the TV turns on, it takes a while to get the signal (as is normal for such old TV sets) with the classic black and white dots moving frantically on the screen, then the first images appear, images dating back to the years '60 or '70. Images of a musical group destined to deeply renew the rock music , contaminating it with blues and folk suggestions, a flute sound in the background, are the Jethro Tull . The totally renewed training, from 1967 until today has changed often, but one has remained the constant. Ian Anderson , one of the most charismatic front-man that international rock music has known. A brilliant and eclectic multi-instrumentalist. An instructor, crazy and ironic at the same time. The Jethro Tull, who met only last year, are performing to celebrate their fiftieth anniversary. I Jethro Tull Let's jump back in time. We are in 1971. Imagine being a young man, maybe a budding musician, who enters the nearest record store. It would have been the cover of a vinyl LP to hit us. The cover is characterized by a beautiful watercolor artist Burton Silverman , which depicts a homeless man with a beard and long hair, dressed in scruffy clothes, looking in front of him with a cruel expression. Near him there is a billboard that advertises Christmas holidays in a Scottish Highlands ski resort. What is the name of this disturbing character? As a brand of underwater respirators: Aqualung . What does Aqualung do? He says in the homonymous song that also gives the title to the album, a 6-minute song in which there is a mix of folk rock sounds, melodies closer to classical music and real acoustic solos: he lives amid waste and dirt, he bothered the girls and spits on those who try to help him. The Italian tour: Aqualung on the stage Let's imagine now that, after having listened to that album over and over and then deepened the original group, which makes such a wide use of the flute, the Italian tour is announced . In front of us a dark stage, with some soft light. Enter some shadows, fix the amplifiers and begin to test the volume of their instruments (drums, bass, keyboard) . Then another figure enters. A different figure. Unkempt, with a thick and bristly beard. This wanders around the stage, with wild movements, looks at us and looks at the audience with the crazy eyes of a madman. That face, that expression. It's really him, it's Aqualung . With one hand he moves his transverse flute as if he were the scepter of a king or an emperor and then the music explodes, the lights come on and he begins to tell us his story. The story of a last, of an outcast. Which is basically our story. Then it turns. It is no longer Aqualung. Now it is the crazy piper of Hamelin , who tames us as if we were his mice, who stirs around furtively, hypnotizing us with the sound of his flute. Then he stops, in the middle of the stage, raises a leg and folds it so that the foot touches the knee of the leg left on the ground and continues to play. He plays the flute in a poignant and passionate way, as if he wanted to absorb some vital energy in an instrumental piece called Bourée. In reality that is neither Aqualung nor the Pied Piper. In reality it is both. He is Ian Anderson and those are Jethro Tull. The group was born between 1967 and 1968, founded by Ian Anderson and guitarist and singer Mick Abrahams and initially only blues, like any rock band of those years. Then he experiments: progressive rock, rock blues and then folk rock. They change various names and then come to Jethro Tull, in honor of an English agronomist, who lived in the eighteenth century, pioneer of modern agriculture. The concert Let's go back to yesterday's concert. Wednesday, February 24th, in Piazza Santissima Annunziata, in Florence. The Jethro Tull, gathered last year, celebrate fifty years of activity . They do it by involving us in a concert that is not just a concert. It is also a journey through time and the history of rock music, and also a sensory experience. We smell the wet grass and the sound of the hooves of the horses that drag a plow (in Heavy horses), we hear in the distance the approach of a steam locomotive and we breathe the acrid and pungent smell of the smoke it emits (in Locomotive Breath) and we find ourselves walking inside a cathedral , inebriated by the smell of candles and incense (in My God), we are overwhelmed by the stink of dirt and waste that emanate the worn clothes of Aqualung and his voice a bit 'nasal and a bit' sharp (precisely in Aqualung). This experience alternates the greetings and tributes of some rock legends : from Joe Bonamassa to Tony Iommi (guitarist and founder of Black Sabbath), from Slash (former guitarist of Guns N 'Roses and Velvet Revolver) up to two components Jethro Tull historians: keyboardist John Evans and bassist Jeffrey Hammond. All who greet the group and wish them well and ask for the execution of their favorite song. The real legend is him: Ian Anderson But the real legend, the one that bewitched the audience in Piazza Santissima Annunziata on the occasion of the Musart Festival yesterday, is him: Ian Anderson . Now with a few hairs and beard more sparse and tidy. No longer dressed in a shabby fashion and with a long skirt, but with a white shirt and a pinstripe waistcoat. A 360 degree musician, a multifaceted genius able to pass from harmonica to mouth to folk guitar, even if his favorite instrument remains his inseparable transverse flute, which never leaves it and that continues to shake, moving on stage, with the power and solemnity of a king or an emperor. He is 71 years old Ian Anderson, 72 next August 10th. It is still the histrion who manages to pull out the anger of Aqualung and then turns into the Pied Piper, with Bourée, stealthily jumping around the stage and then stopping in the swan position, with the leg bent and the foot touching the knee of the leg left on the ground; then it turns into a dancing spirit of the pagan tradition (a faun or a satyr) who, accompanying us with the sweet sound of his flute, leads us inside a Christian cathedral in My God; he is still transformed (as a charismatic as he is) and becomes a cheerful jester at the court of King Henry VIII in Pastime with Good Company. In the midst of all this there is the most beautiful thing. A set of different generations the children together with the fathers, those boys who perhaps in 1971 had found themselves in front of the grim expression of Aqualung. A signal this, that Ian Anderson and Jethro Tull are, now a legend and like any legend have become immortal .

www.indiscreto.info/2018/07/jethro-tull-quando-i-vecchi-sono-giovani.htmlJethro Tull, when the old are young25 July 2018 Indiscreet
Why are there singers or groups who, after fifty years of career, seem less dated than others who are much younger? We asked for it the other night at the racecourse, while we were in the queue to pick up the ticket for the concert of Jethro Tull bought on Ticket One (which does not allow you to print it at home, ridiculous choice that we suffer every time without a real reason) we watched the comrades of misfortune: people of all ages and extractions, from the greedy harleysta to the high school student, from the thirty-year-old employee to the fifty-year-old bent to the system (which also includes Ticket One, the racecourse and of course the Jethro Tull) He only talks about the concerts he has seen all over the world.
The first and perhaps only explanation is that at the creative and musical level there existed a golden age, the second half of the sixties and the first of the seventies, which produced timeless masterpieces and allowed its protagonists to live on income outclassing other genres more related to their present and recoverable only from the perspective of pure nostalgia, from new wave to grunge. The second explanation, certainly more acute than ours, provides Simon Reynolds in his fundamental 'Retromania': the web gave a second life of mass to the best of the past, something that could not happen in the seventies, so that the best new musicians of the 2000s are not only confronted with their contemporaries but with all the best come before them.
Going down with respect to the highest systems, it must be said that the Jethro Tull were something unique even within that unrepeatable era and as we can compare comparable to the King Crimson: wikipedistically framable in the progressive, have touched many genres following the inspiration of their leader Ian Anderson and his transverse flute, often played (even at 71, when his peers are in line with the ASL with the urine container in his hand ...) in a flamingo position, on one leg and beating the time with each other. Like many of their time they stole so much from classical music, especially Bach (with the famous Bourée contained in Stand Up), but declaring it.
After the separation from the historic guitar of Martin Barre of the original lineup only the leader remains and the tour 2018 is nothing but an honest re-presentation of the great classics of Jethro Tull, with video testimonies of the band's many ex: from Mick Abrahams to Jeffrey Hammond, passing also for those who have only touched the group, like Tony Iommi, better known as the Black Sabbath guitarist. The lineup of the concert, which lasted almost two hours and is not just a detail in an era in which the short arm is fashionable, was quite orthodox and it all ended with the two songs that also know the stones, Aqualung and Breath locomotives . Intelligent use of video, almost all in an exciting black and white (poignant to Heavy Horses), but above all not dated the music.

Lots of good points here. I've been a TULL Fan since '73 because of new material to learn and enjoy. If Ian had not done anything since 2003, I would probably be less enthusiastic. Each new album makes TULL very relevant!
