As much as I look forward to hearing the Steven Wilson remix of SFTW, I too am most looking forward to the live stuff. I saw Tull twice in March 1977 (Seattle and Pullman, WA). For the Pullman show we were in the third row right next to the stage extension that Martin would jump onto to rock out. Absolutely one of Tull's greatest concert tours. The fact that you were at the Capital Center show and report that Ian and band were in top form that night makes me all the more excited. In my view this 1977 live material along with the Paris 1975 concert from the Minstrel box will make up the ultimate live Tull recordings available.

A big thing I seem to recall (granted decades and a different (I daresay better world) is that line array PA systems weren't in use back then and it was a huse floor stack each side - big scoop style subs on the bottom, piezos at the very top over the mids. It was very loud and sounded great. Better, to me, than current line arrays. Now I want the Minstrel set based on your opinion regarding the live. I still listen to my Vinyl transfer of Bursting Out as a definitive live so I buy these sets mostly for the live. Honestly, the SW new mixes are not the selling point of anything for me. I didn't like his Passion Play mix near as well as the original (granted I don't have a 5.1 system). I do like the flat transfers of the original mix at 96K though. I tend to like the original mixes best in the sets I have as those are what I'm accustomed.to over decades, especially Aqualung. Exception being his new mix of the Chateau recording as the ridiculous echo drenching the 20 or 25 (whichever, not checking) anniversary version is thankfully absent.

For me, the all new song is exciting.....we got two on War Child (Tommorow was Today and Good Godmother) and two on TOTRARTYTD ( Commercial Traveler and Salamander's Ragtime)....and all 4 of them are worthy additions to the song pile....Looks like Country Box has one new song. If they get to 'Stormwatch' re-release, there is supposedly an epic great song lurking from that era...something about 'apocalypse" ? Anyone know what I'm talking about....since I so often don't ?

A monumental song I think you'd agree Bernie - one has to really wonder why it was left off ANY final album running order of that era
