I'd forgotten about that film. Are you a Highlander fan as well - and all things Scottish? I'm fan of Jethro Tull and Loch Ness monster(if it exists ).

OUR HERO CAPTAIN SIR TOM MOORE HAS DIEDIn April 2020 the then 99-year-old war veteran accepted a little family challenge: to raise £1,000 for health service charities by walking 100 lengths of his garden before his 100th birthday at the end of that month.By the time he closed his fundraising page at midnight on his 100th birthday, Captain Sir Tom had raised more than £32m from more than one-and-a-half-million global donors.
A truly remarkable man.
Rest in peace Sir Tom

David Dushman, the last surviving soldier who took part in the liberation of the Nazi death camp at Auschwitz, has died at 98. Dushman, a Jewish Red Army veteran who later became an Olympic fencer, died in Germany on Saturday. As a 21-year-old soldier, he used his tank to mow down the camp's electric fence on 27 January 1945, helping to set its prisoners free. About 1.1 million people were murdered at Auschwitz, most of them Jews. "When we arrived we saw the fence and these unfortunate people, we broke through the fence with our tanks. We gave food to the prisoners and continued," Dushman told Reuters last year. "They were standing there, all of them in [prisoner] uniforms, only eyes, only eyes, very narrow - that was very terrible, very terrible," he said. Dushman has said he was unaware Auschwitz existed during the war, only learning about the atrocities carried out there in the years after.

Time flies...the first time I visited Europe, in about 1977, reserved seats for war veterans were not uncommon on public transit. I'm guessing that's no longer a standard. We loved the formality of the rankings of rights to the special seats on the French metro: War injury, civil injury, elderly, blind, pregnant, with little kids...we made up 'who gets to sit' games. Pregnant war veteran vs blind old person with little kids etc.

A man who was name checked in a Tull song...high honor and well deserved...unlike a certain ex-president who, I wish, could be erased from the lyric book.

Thank you, Tull family...Somehow, across the multiple generation gaps engendered by my father and I managing Polish shtetel to San Francisco in one generation, was his knowledge that I really care about some sort of music making entity called Jethro Tull. Most Jewish families needed two or three generations to get so far....maybe a East Coast public college generation , Phillip Roth, Woody Allen, baseball...but my dad made it from Eastern Europe to Denver, via Palestine/Israel and I finished the dash to follow the sun to rest, to paraphrase 'Rasiing Steam', the minute I got out of high school
