What do you consider to be a Happy Tull tune? Make a list, and take us all to Happy Tull land... Okay, maybe that taking it a bit too far, but something like that anyway... This is my personal list. Maybe I forgot a few, and are all of them really that happy? Anyway... here it is...

Skating Away, Songs From The Wood, just about everything on Secret Language of Birds and Divinities.
There's so many. Albums with that mood include Warchild, SFTW, HH, StandUp, LITP, TAAB, and I thought there's a strong positive foundation going on that created Roots to Branches, no matter the mood of the songs, something was healthy there. The Christmas Album, same deal. Same with Broadsword and the Beast, that one was in the groove. Crest of a Knave as well.
Divinities had so many merits, it would be good for I.A. or Tull or whatever the mix/artist combo, to get into more instrumental work sometimes. Tull always astonished and aced it with any longer instrumental work within the longer songs. Aqualung and Benefit hinted at possibilities there, but TAAB started the fully explored instrumental section work and in its way, BAKER STREET MUSE is a happy adventure even if on the surface its mood shifts around and in some sections isn't radiating "popcorn and Monty Python" quite that much. Or Black Satin Dancer, for that matter. "Sense of life" and "mood on the surface" aren't always the same.

I would certainly add Birthday Card At Christmas Got a birthday card at Christmas... it made me think of Jesus Christ. It said, "I love you" in small letters. I simply had to read it twice. Wood smoke curled from blackened chimneys. The smell of frost was in the air. Pole star hovered in the blackness. I looked again... it wasn't there.
People have showered me with presents. While their minds were fixed on other things. Sleigh bells, bearded red suit uncles. Pointy trees and angel wings. I am the shadow in your Christmas. I am the corner of your smile. Perfunctory in celebration. You offer content but no style.
That little baby Jesus... he got a birthday card or three. Gold trinkets and cheap frankincense. Some penny baubles for his tree. Have some time off for good behaviour. Forty days, give or take a few. Hey there, sweet baby Jesus... Let's share a birthday card with you.

Actually the only album I don't like is Divinities: Twelve Dances with God... The only tune I like on that album is In the pay of Spain...
