Sounds like child abuse to me... Do you thing that it has effected you permanently in a negative way? I presume that this has poisoned most of your childhood...## Eh? No. Most kids were brought up in a strict religious home and school in the 50's and 60's. No, but I've got a touch of eczema at the moment but I'll probably pour some almond oil on it instead of holy water (that doesn't work) Okay... So I did take it a bit too far... Well, what can I say... I must have misunderstood you... but maybe there's also a cultural difference here... Most Danes are very Godless... It's very different when it comes to religion over here... I still think that many religions people are indoctrinating their children, and if I were a librarian, I would definitely file most of it under: Child Abuse... Many well-meaning parents do this, but never the less it's child abuse... In my oppinion... by the way I don't see the catholic faith as one of the dark religions of the world, but I think it's fair to say that there are people within the catholic faith that are dark and vicious child molesteres... It's been well documented... Unfortunately the religions of the world doesn't just attract the good and benevolent...

Nice skeleton, Jim! Not something I would hang on my wall, but that's just me and my affection for Feng Shui... By the way... I don't think that people are wrong in any way if they hang something like this on their wall, or if they have skull ashtrays... It's just that I personally wouldn't have it in my home... but I think it's sad to hear that children are treated badly, even if they are treated badly by someone who probably did it with the best of intensions... Children can't protect themselves from something like that... I have taken care of so many children, and I am a fearless "crusader" when it comes to protecting them... I applaud anyone who protects children from abuse. This GOTH thing is a cultural phenomena. Many places use historic occasions to create tourism and entertainment. Sometimes it's very over the top!
With Halloween (TULL-o-ween) becoming more popular over the years, some places go all out in the Fall. This type of masquerade adds much to the thrill of being young and excitement just like Christmas. There are some very conservative people who feel Santa Claus is an evil distraction to their celebration. No matter to me because I celebrate for fun and family which includes many traditions.
With Whitby Goth Weekend being a bi-annual event, I see so much joy and amazement on everyone's face. Part is the music which can be even more of what makes this so cool... Oh, by the way... It's been a long time since I've worked with children, but I still believe that most parents are good and well-meaning, and I would never align myself with a child against their parents... I always try to align myself with the process of helping everyone involved as good as I can... but turning the parents into the enemy, seldom helps anyone... Fun and games are okay... I have fun with Halloween to... So, maybe it's something like that... Still thinking about it though...

The more I learn, the more I like !!! Fright fans head to their favourite haunt: LINK Spooks take over English seaside town as Whitby Goth Weekend turns 18 By Ian Garland If you visited Whitby this weekend you'd be forgiven for thinking you'd stumbled upon the set of a bizarre horror film. The truth is more far fetched. The seaside town has been taken over by lovers of all things Victorian, Romantic and macabre - celebrating the twice-yearly Whitby Goth Weekend. The event started in 1994 in the North Yorkshire town, chosen because it's where Bram Stoker wrote Dracula.
Spooky inspiration: Whitby was chosen because Bram Stoker wrote his famous novel Dracula while staying in the Yorkshire seaside town
Biannual: The festival is so popular, organiser Jo Hampshire added an extra date in 1997. It's now held every April and October
The weekend started out as a yearly event, but became so popular by 1997 - organiser Jo Hampshire added an extra date. It's now held every April and October, when thousands of costumed revellers descend on the tiny town -and this year was no different. Weekenders in all shapes and sizes filled Whitby's hotels and b&bs.
The Farmer family, Victoriana fans Norman, his wife Jan and their son Nick, rubbed shoulders with 17-year-old Goth Megan Watt and songwriter and composer Mistress Hermione Pepper, alias Helen Payne. The weekends' events include club nights, markets, concerts, a bring & buy sale and even a charity football match between goths. Charity is a common theme - thousands have been raised for good causes during the weekend's 18 year history.
A collection for murdered goth Sophie Lancaster in 2007 raised £3,000 to place a memorial bench in Whitby in her honour. Some visitors, meanwhile, prefer to pay homage to Stoker and focus on their scenic surroundings. Goth landmarks include the Gothic Whitby Abbey, said to be the inspiration behind Dracula's castle.

No, but I've got a touch of eczema at the moment but I'll probably pour some almond oil on it instead of holy water (that doesn't work) Seems that we never really get to talk anything through... Always engaged in half of a conversation... but seriously, I just don't understand what you mean when you write this: "Most kids were brought up in a strict religious home and school in the 50's and 60's." You know... I'm a little puzzled about that... because it's really just a statement telling me how it was in those days, but it doesn't say anything about if you think that it was okay... or what exactly you think about it... So, what does it mean? Does it mean that it's okay, if many kids were raised this way, simply because there were so many? The more we hit the better? Probably not... So let me guess here... Well... I presume that you think that because it was a common thing to do, and a common way to think, that it wasn't maliciously meant, and therefore not as bad as if they purposely meant to harm those innocent children? Or maybe it wasn't that bad at all... Maybe most of these kids had a great childhod? You know... maybe it wasn't that bad for most of those children to be raised in a strict religious home these days? Is that what you mean? You know... I haven't experienced something like that, so maybe I just don't understand how it was growing up in a strict religious home in the 50's and 60's... (I sure hope that it wasn't that bad... I mean... It's two hole decades... Talk about a waste of time... ) Oh... and Just a little piece of advice if anybody's actually considering this... For God's sake!! Stay away from the holly water... didn't you see The Exorcist???
