Unnur Birna's voice sounds better on the single. It sounds screechy on LITP Could be because it's via youtube though any thoughts?

You Tube while lots of fun and up to date, can sound like singing in a box. The eventual DVD or Cd would make this more listenable. Even Ian's voice gets better. Soundboard recording or Radio LIVE makes Jethro Tull bootlegs worth playing again and again.

"It is NOT a bog standard concert, it really does have a readily understood theme and the show in toto is something remarkable to behold."

It's not that that often that I have little to say, but the review of the London Gig sums it up perfectly.
I must admit for the first 10 minutes I was a little apprehensive, IA didn't hardly sing.
Then it clicked, this was a virtual rock opera and believe me the live spectacle is a world away from YT video clips.
You have to experience the whole show to understand the story and the messages.
The music was superbly executed and the huge video backdrop was perfectly synced.
The production was immense, constantly changing as the story progressed, alternating between IA and the on screen characters. A few observation...........
• Florian was again brilliant, he and IA played off each other superbly - almost telepathic. • High praise to Greig Robinson on bass, constantly 'headbanging' and sounded top draw. • John and Scott again perfect. • No chats between songs - would have interrupted the theme and ongoing developing story.
The new songs were great - particulary, Stick,Twist,Bust, The Turnstile Gate and 'And The World Feeds Me'. Frankenfield and Prosperous Pastures were also great - so they were all great!
I had my doubts that this would be another mostly 'Best Of' - nothing could be further from what I saw last night. The lyrics tweaked/changed and it all clicked and fitted it perfectly with the story of Jethro Tull.
He pulled it off, he's bloody done it again.
I just read my first line above, I wasn't going to say that much but its still fresh - I want to see it again.
You have to see this show - its Magnificent in all ways.
OneprosperousDuck.
PS. Video police had a word - but managed to sneak some video - 2 clips - Jack in the Green and Weathercock (the first half of which is completely out of focus - sorry Rabbit - but then it come ok. I'll post a bit later.
PPS. Excuse my crap English - I just got out off bed!
PPPS. Requiem as an encore was awesome, beautiful and lots of other adjectives I can't think of!!

I'm getting the impression that this tour has created a new and coherent musical and lyrical story and I'm watching for indication that some recording will be released of it all, live or studio/live mix, whatever, cause I get the suspicion I just won't be able to see the tour, for various reasons, so a recording would be a cool second choice. Anyone have any leads on that kind of thing yet? I figure such a recording wouldn't be out before fall 2016, just a practical hunch. Are they selling horse feed or plows at the gigs swag table?

Who would have thought in 1674 that 2015 was the year they'd celebrate Jethro Tull? Say that 5 times fast.

I will probably not have the chance to see the show, but I'm hoping for a spectacular recording...

Sounds like that will happen I'm searching for naughty concert recordings of the show but no luck so far
As the band has had extensive rehearsals and recordings of the songs must have been used for evaluation etc., might a live stream of the new songs be made available now in the same way as they did with HE or downloads via the main site with the wonga going to Ian's cat charity?

The Birmingham show was excellent, provided that you accept it's a show rather than a concert. The sound was great and the performances as excellent as you would expect, especially 'A New Day Yesterday' and 'Locomotive Breath'. Scott Hammond was particularly impressive. The video was exceptionally clear and the whole package was well put together. It was great to have a shot of Preston station behind 'Cheap Day Return', especially as it was a station I knew well for a number of years - the song always running through my head! But having said all those good things, there's still something a little distancing about having much of the singing being done on the screen. It's also odd having 'Aqualung' coming on third - just doesn't feel quite right. And what you don't get is Ian's chat between the songs, which always adds something. These are observations, rather than complaints - it's still fantastic to have such energy and creativity after all these years. But a musical show, even, God help us, an opera, is quite different from a concert. The theme was fascinating, at least for this boy with farming connections! Great shots of John Deere tractors to reflect the subtle change in the lyrics to 'Heavy Horses'. I would agree with those who have said that the new lyrics were hard to work out. Without the programme, the narrative would be hard to make out. The new material was pretty good and the changes to old songs generally worked. The exception was 'Back to the Family', where the bite of the original was missing and that seemed to spoil the whole song. The overarching theme seemed to be the choice between organic and biotech approaches to agriculture. I'm assuming that some of this comes from Ian's own farming experience (his acres being the location for some of the video?) and I wonder if some of this is him reflecting on and rejecting some of the more romantic notions of the countryside in SFTW and HH? A pity, if this was the case, that 'Set Aside' didn't feature. I always thought this was a lovely little fragment that could stand developing - and this context would seem ideal. I wasn't entirely convinced by Unnur Birna Bjornsdottir's contributions. At times, especially on the new song 'And the World Feeds Me', which introduces the second half, it seemed a little too like musical theatre - a little too wholesome and twee for me. However, she was good at other parts, like 'Witch's Promise'. So, overall it was good, if not, for me, up to the last two shows - but I think they were exceptional. As it happens, I had the good fortune the following night to see Richard Thompson (again!) He was quite outstanding and it is wonderful to have two performers with such a great back catalogue but also the ability to produce exciting new material. Aren't we lucky that they are still giving us so much?!
