I was wondering if anybody knew what key the tin whistle Ian used in "the whistler" off song from the woods was in? I have scoured the internet and unfortunately found nothing on this, though a couple fellows on youtube seem to have the same question. Tin whistles can only play in a couple keys that they were made for, so I don't know if I need to get a new whistle to learn this part or not (though cost isn't exactly a concern). Thanks! -Dragon

From what I can find out the song is in G # minor but the solo whistle is in A, if that helps. Video here but it looks like Ian is playing a Generation whistle which you can't get in A Edit.... Worked it out the whistle is in "D" But I'm not 100% sure . I'll look into more.

It's been quite a while but I think I've played along to the CD and my D tin whistle matches it. D is a very common Irish key.

There are two whistles used on this track. For the most part a whistle in D is used, and after the key change it's a whistle in G.
