The crazed rock flute returns with classic Jethro Tull ! TULL LINK 1 TULL LINK 2 JETHRO TULL By Enrique Novi - Jethro Tull started out in the mid sixties a collective project rather inclined towards the blues rock that dominated the London arrest of the time ended up being the vehicle of expression of a flutist with the spirit of minstrel he would have liked to live in times of magical beliefs, potions, pixies and haunted castles. And while one of the most successful groups of all that batch reached emerged in the late sixties that was called progressive rock.
The truth is that within the current Jethro Tull were rare birds flying on their own and without any sense of belonging. Imagination and expressiveness of their leader, the charismatic Ian Anderson, possessed by an ancestral spirit when he took the stage, made only his alchemy of rock, old British folk, a dash of jazz and nods to early music starting with the Baroque period, which will come in handy even the name, taken from a former surveyor and inventor of agricultural machinery of S. XVIII.
It was not always so, and even the choice of that name as well would suit the music that would develop later was a cannon, a casualty, a quirk of fate, surely wiser than anyone involved then in the project . For Ian Anderson had to deal with other members like Mick Abrahams, a singer and guitarist certainly gifted blues and determined to practice before taking to the wheel of the lead group and where intended.
Anyway, finally, especially when training was consolidated with the input of another guitarist Martin Barre, while his second album, "Stand Up" (Island Records, 1969), was published the group began to take off and music, mysterious, imaginative and engaging, exalted him to make one of the greatest bands ever. Also the longest.
In the seventies gave their most acclaimed albums: "Aqualung" in 1971, "Thick As a Brick" in 72, or "Songs From the Woods" in the 77, all published under the Chrysalis label, and even their most hesitant steps, including certain electronic dalliances in the early eighties and even some minor works,at the end of that decade and the next, and could dismount Jethro Tull rock pantheon to which they climbed then.Although Jethro Tull group officially disbanded in 2011, Ian Anderson and you can never be separated from its legacy. So now, at 68, he embarks on a tour called 'Jethro Tull: The Rock Opera', with which rescues, who knows if for the last time, the most representative songs of his career. The tour began last September in the British Isles and now goes through Spain, where only four dates scheduled. Granada is one of the lucky cities where for the spectacle, tonight at the Palace of Congresses.

www.ideal.es/Jethro Tull, the whole opera, tonight in GranadaThe historic band presents a show today in the Palace of Congresses in which he gives a twist to his most important successesNovember 22, 2015After two visits to the town of Atarfe, Ian Anderson Jethro Tull brings her first to Granada capital. Something in the years of greatest splendor of the English, the seventies, would have been unthinkable. Of course, if you tell anyone who would act in Dylan or the Rolling Stones Motril in El Ejido that was a farmstead then! Jethro Tull was the name of the inventor of a machine for planting seeds in the field of the eighteenth century, emergency designation in principle for a single performance of a youth group back in 1967 and now again the theme of the 'opera 'that Ian Anderson has devised for these concerts. About to reach the half-century history and seventy million albums sold, the name is the longest English rock with the Rolling Stones stable brand. It is a special band Jethro Tull being a group that wrote some of the basic rules of progressive rock and hard rock riffs that have passed the history of this music, with legions of imitators among formations now. And all this counting on such mutants have been few groups like them because they have made blues, jazz, folk ... The band achieved even a Grammy for best album of hard-metal! back in 1989. Anderson, introduced in the beginning with image hobo inspired by the work of his first wife, photographer slum, is now an English gentleman honored by the Queen, of about seventy years business farms dressing pirate when the traversera pulls. It is a kind of elegant and refined manners quite maniac who calls and interviews called off as easily valves pressing his flute and, as he said recently, feels bound by the legend of Jethro Tull, sometimes reluctantly. It's not rock concert In recent years it has had a historical partner Martin Barre of Jethro Tull to remember and unique masterworks as 'Aqualung', 'Thick as a brick' or 'Too Old To Rock' n 'Roll: Too Young To Die'. Despite accusing the passage of time (especially the voice), Ian Anderson can still make the 'step Heron' (lifting leg and arm while playing) and is surrounded by fresh sap having Florian Opahle on guitar, David Goodier on bass, John O'Hara on keyboards, Scott Hammond on drums, Ryan O'Donnell in the second voices and Unnur Birna Björnsdóttir with violin and vocals. Attention, the same Ian Anderson recalls that there is a rock concert use, so that once started warns 'function' may not be entered until the intermission. www.ideal.es/granada/culturas/musica/201511/22/jethro-tull-toda-opera-20151122170742.html

Hello again, after a full weekend, on Friday Ian Anderson concert, and on Saturday Barça won comfortably to R.Madrid 0-4 Come on to the concert that's what matters, little left to say about this great spectacle that is "Jethro Tull The Rock Opera" the "Sala Barts" is ideal for rock concerts, unbeatable sound and perfect performance, I was pleasantly surprised with Greig Robinson I think is a good bassist a little more rocker than David Goodier, which incidentally has joined to the band on this tour, but for now is among racks. Good news who indicate that their problems are falling behind. More pictures from backstage this week, the official photographer of Tullianos (Cristobal Vergara) ends their jobs today. This is taken with my cell Summing up and as I mentioned to Jim: Great Great show, with many security measures because of the recent attacks in Europe but Ian Anderson stood up the whole Sala Barts. Disadvantages of these safeguards is that you could not record or take pictures, otherwise immediately your camera or your phone are confiscated. Incredible response from the public and later Anderson entered very relaxed at backstage and with a big smile, up to 15 Tullianos admitted to backstage!, he was really happy Only one thing I do not like about the "Rock Opera" is not a rock concert, and therefore there is no chance to improvisation, everything is fully synchronized with the video. By the way, there is NO playback, which we are sitting in the front rows can hear perfectly the voice of Ian, even a bug where sang a duet with Unnur until he realized... I'll add a report by David Lopez, who was at the concert and with which I agree on almost everything, of course I do not agree that this is the best Jethro Tull of history but I like that young people thing so Chronicle of Jethro Tull The Rock Opera - Barcelona (20/11/2015)www.miusyk.com/cronica-jethro-tull-the-rock-opera-barcelona-20112015.htmlGoogle tranlator: "Jethro Tull The Rock Opera" is the show that Ian Anderson devised for "touring with The Best of Jethro Tull" but giving a real twist to many of the classics of his band. The fierce criticism of the concert that come to us from across the Atlantic, and also from England, are too unfair and we decided to clarify several points that important to discuss what we saw last night.
The Barts hall was full to bursting and the public had the typical fans who know the band for decades and also the children and grandchildren of earlier what we think is perfect. After notifying the loudspeaker repeatedly that they could not take pictures, the guys flashlight had much work to prevent photos and videos were made. Until the developer commented, resting, anger Anderson for this reason.
As far as regards injustice. The first is to accuse Ian doing playback for much of the concert. This point is totally false because although his voice giving of themselves is no less true that a great show is marked by giving, as it always has, 100%. If people read the name of the concert you would realize that the opportunity to see something that's unique.
This is not a pastiche as Abba musical or The Who, this is a rock opera made with live band itself and that real luxury is not available to everyone. Video interventions known Ryan O'Donnell and David Goodier are excellent and the vocal level of the vast Unnur Birna Björnsdóttir in songs like "The Witch's promise" confirm Ian's good choice.
The themes that were sounded like heaven "Farm of the freeway," an amazing "Weathercock" the end of the show and the new songs among which "feeds me and the World" and "The turnstile Gate" and the melody folk, repeated in several passages of "Prosperous Pasture".
In short, this is a monumental rock opera in which the abused Scott Hammond, a versatile battery that cane and softness when necessary, and a huge Florian Ophale (with more charisma, energy and versatility than one who keeps talking about that his creativity was cut and only remained in the group for money*), apart from the other band members,**That confirm that this is the best Jethro Tull band of all times although nostalgics say otherwise*. A great show and a unique experience that we discussed despite not having accreditation at the express request of Anderson. This website will inform you of everything you do the above proves us something or not because we are talking about the best composer of the twentieth century and of a type that remains in the gap and thinking of albums and tours. Make it for many years.
Translation of mine, because I realized that it was not readable. *He is referring to Martin Barre
Some pics taken even receiving warnings

Sunday concert at the Auditorium Manzoni in Bologna. Historical songs, new pieces of Homo erraticus, video projections and surprise guestsNovember 23, 2015Link to articleBOLOGNA. In the seventies of the last century called it "the wader" because during his performances lifted and bent his leg resting it to another, thus continuing precariously to play his magical instrument, the flute, sweeping audiences. But today Ian Anderson, born in 1947, Scottish heritage, has charisma and energy to spare. And it shows in her new European tour Jethro Tull Rock Opera which provides only three Italian dates: Sunday, November 29 in Bologna, Auditorium Manzoni 21 hours ; November 30 in Turin, Coliseum Theatre and December 1 in Bergamo, Teatro Creberg. Party from the UK, Italy after the tour will go to Turkey and the Czech Republic. Already scheduled a second tour in South America. Jethro Tull Rock Opera brings to the stage the life story of Jethro Tull, real character from which the band took the name of Anderson. Tull was an agronomist and inventor English: the show re - imagines his story, transporting it in the near future, telling it with a facility almost lyrical, using some of the most popular songs of the repertoire of Jethro Tull; we talk about titles like Aqualung, Living In The Past, Locomotive Breath. Along with Ian Anderson will be David Goodier on bass, John O'Hara on keyboards, Florian Opahle on guitar and Scott Hammond on drums. There will also be some special surprise guests. "There's always humor in the way I perform - says the flautist - we have videos that accompany the songs, sometimes literally, sometimes in a more abstract way. They are a tool to entertain, but also to reflect viewers. Some videos are the scariest, funniest and more surreal. Sometimes I present the songs, sometimes longer speak of individual songs, sometimes they are more fun, sometimes not, it depends on my mood. The lineup includes a first part dedicated to my last record, Homo erraticus, a year after its release, and a second focused on the music of Jethro Tull, who will be 60% of the show where riproporrò, in addition to the classics, songs that do not I played for 40 years. In almost 45 years of watching Tull...I've NEVER seen a bad show...not one I find the comment about not allowing people to walk around during the show to be appropriate...it's disrespectful to the band and to the other audience members when people spend more time walking around than listening to the show...same with the horrid wave of cell phones in the air in front of your face... There are different "rules" for concert goers in Europe than there are here...

This is the only video I've seen from Barcelona, as I said at the time the security measures were exaggerated, the biggest I've seen in a Tull concert, although the occasion deserved it... Farm On The Freeway, Jethro Tull The Rock Opera, BARTS teatre Barcelona 20/11/2015 As can be seen Florian wearing a dressing on his upper lip, for this reason did not come at backstage, as Scott sayd "Florian not feeling well" The real reason was a cold sore and he was ashamed to appear in pictures. I support his decision *We continue without receiving backstage photos

Google translate: Entrevista a Scott Hammond (batería de Jethro Tull) sobre la Ópera Rock del grupoI admit, I have a soft spot for Scott Hammond. Which for many is a simple to a server is not only a great person but a musician in each tour our country demonstrates his musical wisdom and perfect fit in the sound gear invented by Ian Anderson battery. If we gave a juicy interview at the time, he has now done the same when the wonderful rock opera Ian Anderson Spain just passed. We leave you with the interview. -The First part of the tour with the rock opera just ended and the comments thereon are very contradictory. Some fans say is not what they expected and others think it's a great show. What do you think about it and how you got into the repertoire to play those classic Tull? Many people with whom I spoke told me they did not like the show much when I first saw it but they loved when they saw the second time. I think this happens for several reasons, one of which is that people are better acquainted with the concept of the concert (with singers, video, etc.) and also with the songs. Some have problems with change, for a better fit with the story, the lyrics of the songs they know and love and that I can understand. I think part of the video has improved greatly in recent years and it is all thanks to James Anderson. While some prefer to watch live and on stage all singers, I think it's an interesting concept that I have not seen that has been done before and it works fine. I think Ian has also written some great songs for this show. What is your favorite song to play live? Is there a Jethro Tull song you like to play? My favorite song of the show is "The Turnstile Gate". It's fun to have that great variation in the rate, which Tull has often in his songs. How were the concerts in Spain? Do you think there are differences with another country? I had very well in Spain but, as usually happen when I'm on tour, I would have enjoyed it more if I had more time to explore. Barcelona was an interesting city and want to go again. My family is trying to learn Spanish but we are still at the "Good morning" and "What is your name?". The big difference when playing in Spain is that the concerts start later, around nine. In most countries we started at eight and even seven-thirty. This means having less time to have a cup of tea after the concert and less time to prepare our bags of hot water before going to bed. You know when you start recording the new album with Ian Anderson? Did you date? At this moment I have no evidence that there are plans to record a new album but I guess it's a matter of time before it becomes something related to the agenda. Your style is impressive and introduces some jazz, blues, rock, hard rock, folk and even metal. Again you're playing with Ian and that's your main job but are you thinking about recording something for a solo album? Thanks for your kindness. I have a jazz quartet but is almost nonexistent due to the amount of time I'm on tour. I'd love to record an album with them and also a solo with something that is not necessarily jazz but music with rhythm. Honestly, I do not think I can do this unless you stop working with Ian or do less concerts. When I return to Bristol I have the opportunity to do several concerts as a freelance so it's fun. They are often quite different from my concerts with Ian so it's great to have that variety and jump between both worlds. When I'm in Bristol what I play is jazz or funk but I also play on a rock trio called The Lewis Creaven Band. A few months ago we read how some rock stars claimed the death of the genre, saying that new bands have no chance of being known. What do you think about it? I guess it depends on how you define "being known". The music business became long ago, in a very commercial and is now easier to win the lottery before becoming a great band. I think you can live like this if you work hard and if you complement your income with other work. Most musicians I know also give classes or do other work related to music. I imagine that the darker are your tastes more complicated is the triumph. I have a friend who makes music banging two rocks together (it was on the roll that "free and improvised music"). I do not think that fill a concert hall for more than improve your style but if that is what we enjoy should not stop. I do not think you commented when you refirieras rock stars to these rocks (joke with the word rock). So if a group is within the standards that you would expect you can give concerts and created a fan base working hard though stardom depends on luck, especially in these times. What do you hear right now? Is there any new band that interests you? Every time I sit down to listen to music I always listen to the same guy, Derek Trucks. It is a slide guitarist who plays with an incredible sound and feeling. I love to play with him someday. What can we expect from you in 2016? A quiet start of the year and then to work as usual, with Ian Anderson, the agenda is filling slowly. I also want to see the new Star Wars movie several times. Any message for your Spanish fans? Have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year (sic) Hammond #Scott

In a posting on its official Facebook, Anderson reported it was the weekend when started coming rumors of cancellation of the concert, which finally verified today when he was told of a dispute between the local organizers and the venue chosen, Theatre Caupolicán.
"Our international producer of South America said that the site had cancelled the concert because of a dispute with the local producer in Santiago," said Anderson.
