Just to expand my knowledge of Tull trivia does anyone remember what was the first tour that Tull used the big balloons at the end?

I don't remember them in 1989 at Rock Island, but then again I have slept some since the show..

Nice footage maddog, where was that from?
They used the balloons on the Rock Island tour in the UK Tullskull, in fact it seems they made so many of them that they turned up at Tull shows for years afterwards! (or maybe you were right and they had so many left over because they forgot to pack them going to America!)

Lugano Estival 07/09/2005. Somewhere I've got one of the balloons which I managed to deflate and get out of the gig from the Manchester Apollo in 1989 (I think). Probably perished by now but who knows? Probably worth a bit by now.

I have seen all the tours until the last two starting with 4/72 and taab and I usually have a good memory for nearly useless facts, and i am quite sure the first use of balloons to my eyes was 2/75 on the War Child tour.

Yes maybe. I was thinking of the theatrical aspect - lets beg to slightly differ and say middle 70's!

I'm sure I read somewhere that the balloons originally accompanied Sealion, balanced on Ian's head, so around '75 would tie in with that. Assuming they are history now, when were the last?

Balloons for Sea Lion makes sense but I can't definitely say i remember ballons before the 20th year tour in 1988...but that year the balloons were memorable for the 'Oh No...not another 20 years of Jethro Tull' logo....I think those were overbought cuz they showed up again 10 or 15 year later!
