Amazing bit of Spanish and Tull history. the first time I visited Spain in 1980 I visited a record shop in Tarragona and found 'Aqualung' featured among the newest and most popular albums....the guy in the shop told me it was because it had only recently become easily available after Franco died. What a great document !

Most of us have never experienced the real oppression that existed in those days. Not all forms of censorship are explained so directly as this was. Part government, part religion.
The album "Aqualung" made some Americans fearful of the lyrics which they could not understand. If that was a threat to their morality, they would sometimes burn albums in public ways.

The Spanish censorship refused in the first instance the recording of "A Passsion A Play". Only the insistence of Fonogram S.A. and taking advantage of the bad reviews of the time, allowed after a notice of appeal the publication of APP This document is the refusal of the recording of "A Passion Play" in the first instance Translate: The songs presented by Fonogram SA dated 7/19/73 Docket No.: 1930/73 and titled: A Passion Play (1) The Story Of The Hare Who Lost His Spectacles (1) Speaking of the drama of passion in a locality, lack respect and seriousness. Moreover there are erotic parts: "And your little sister's immaculate virginity wings away on the bony shoulders of a young horse named George who stole surreptitiously into her geography review. (The Examined body examining her body.) " Deniable (Underlined) The other track is approvable (Underlined) Madrid 07.20.73 Eusebio Ceballos Handwritten Denied A Passion Play, the other approved Down, appeal by Fonogram finally was successful in part because it already had been approved a single from A Passion Play Also cited the reviews made at "Melody Maker".... With more time I will try to make a translation or summary of these two texts My thanks to Antonio Hernandez Sastre
