Considered a living legend, Ian Anderson brings the magic of the flute of Jethro Tull to Recife and Olinda, on March 16 (Saturday) at 21 pm, at Theatre Guararapes. The production is the Artbhz Producer Ray and Laser Spectacles. The show is based on the legendary album "Thick as a Brick", 1972, whose lyrics are supposedly based on a poem written by a bright kid, eight years, called General Bostock, aka "Little Milton". Composed by Anderson, the disc has the particularity of having only one track, divided into two themes. When it was released, "Thick as a Brick" achieved immediate success and topped the charts in the United States for several months. Even today, the album remains one of the most celebrated symphonic and progressive rock. Both Ian decided that touching the band live and in full forty years later, on the tour that began in April 2012, in Britain. The tour commemorating the 42 year career of Ian Anderson will travel through several cities in Latin America, including Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile, Porto Alegre, Belo Horizonte and Recife. The band will be on stage at the Palace of Arts is currently formed by Florian Opahle (guitar), Scott Hammond (drums), David Goodier (bass), John O'Hara (keyboards), Ryan O'Donnell (vocals) and multi Ian Anderson-instrumentalist, vocalist also. Ian AndersonIan Anderson led the British band "Jethro Tull" that mixes progressive rock with blues, folk and English hard rock with touches of baroque music, medieval and Renaissance English. Anderson's flute, played masterfully, remains one of the most striking features of the banda. Anderson is a self-taught flautist. His style is based on the technique of flutter-tonguing includes songs while playing, besides suffering great influences Roland Kirk. He is considered a complete artist, sings and composes and mastered the technique of multiple instruments. Plays guitar - an instrument he learned in adolescence - bass, bouzouki, balalaika, saxophone, mandolin and harmonica. He has recorded several songs that played all the instruments and even took the sound engineering and production. The unique style of their sound blends folk, jazz, blues, rock and pop. The letters, often complex, full of puns, acidic, criticize society and religion, fantasy and allegory to country life or medieval. Anderson is for his chameleonic ability to reinvent his own music, which accounts for a career unwavering and active until the present day.

7/10: Ian Anderson brings ‘Thick as a Brick’ to Phoenixwww.azcentral.com/thingstodo/music/articles/20130221ian-anderson-phoenix-jethro-tull-thick-as-a-brick.html?nclick_check=1 By Ed Masley The Republic | azcentral.com Thu Feb 21, 2013 10:38 AM Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson will play “Thick as a Brick” in its entirety when the Thick as a Brick Tour hits Symphony Hall in Phoenix on Wednesday, July 10. He’ll also play “Thick as a Brick 2,” the sequel he released last year as a solo act to mark the 40th anniversary of the original album’s release. When the tour in support of the sequel was launched in the U.K. last April, that was the first time Anderson or any member of the group had played “Thick as a Brick” in its entirety since 1972, the year it spent two weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s album chart. This tour will feature a more theatrical production with video and additional musicians, including Anderson’s band — bassist David Goodier, keyboardist John O’Hara, drummer Scott Hammond and guitarist Florian Opahle, all of whom have also performed at various times as members of Jethro Tull. British singer Ryan O’Donnell, who has been active in the U.K. theatrical scene will also be singing. Tickets are $43, $55, $78 and $128, going on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, March 1 at ticketmaster.com or 602-495-1999. Well, maybe he was Jesus; but his hair could have used a comb.

More from the wilds of Canada: ;D (Ian Anderson said wilds of Canada) www.masseyhall.com/eventdetail/1399Live Nation presents Jethro Tull’s singer/flautist/composer Ian Anderson revisits progressive rock 40 years after the ground-breaking Tull album, Thick as a Brick with the follow up album Thick as a Brick 2. Anderson will perform both live at Massey Hall this fall. More info: Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson Plays Thick as a Brick 1 & 2 Massey Hall $49.50 - $89.50 www.htzfm.com/concerts/Details.aspx?ConcertID=177010Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson plays Thick as a Brick 1 & 2 TICKETS ON SALE FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 22 AT 10:00AM WHERE· Hamilton Place WHEN · Thursday, October 17 @ 8:00 PM AGE · All Ages PRICE · ) $49.50, $65.50, $85.00 STATUS · On Sale Now ABOUT THE EVENT Prog Rock? Prog Rock? In 2012? Are you serious? Well, yes actually – although let’s use the original term ‘progressive rock’. Cast aside all prejudices as Jethro Tull’s singer / flautist / composer Ian Anderson explains what led him to revisit the genre some 40 years after the ground-breaking Tull album Thick As A Brick, which will now lead him to a performance at Massey Hall in October. Thick As A Brick was a world-wide success, including a No 1 spot on the American Billboard chart, and excerpts from the piece have regularly featured in Jethro Tull and Ian Anderson live shows. But Ian had steadily resisted record company suggestions that he write a follow-up. It was not until a chance encounter in 2010 with old pal Derek Shulman of Gentle Giant, who nagged him to consider a 40th anniversary sequel, that Ian gave it some serious thought – and surprised himself by not dismissing it out of hand this time. He had noticed that in recent years his audiences had been changing. “It wasn’t just old codgers, it was kind of a mix between old codgers and young codgers. It really struck me that there was this new wave of interest from youngsters who want something that is an alternative and antidote to the X-Factor and the very repetitive rock music that does tend to be the stuff of today. So I began to feel that it was not quite as undignified as I had earlier supposed to be doing something that was more in that kind of progressive vein.” In February 2011 Ian spent a couple of days sketching out some ideas. Thick As A Brick 2 was recorded in November 2011; musically Ian has very deliberately echoed the feel of the 1972 album by using many of the same instruments, including a lot of acoustic guitar and lashings of Hammond organ, and to a large extent recording it with the band all playing live together. Whilst there are ID points to allow separate tracks to be downloaded from iTunes, it is a continuous 53-minute piece of music with recurring musical themes. What is Ian’s view of the finished project? “Unlike the original 1972 Thick As A Brick, the mood of the album is not really a spoof. It’s not a funny thing; some of it is quite heart-aching and serious, and sometimes a bit intellectual, and sometimes a bit upbeat and amusing, but not in a spoof-fun way. It’s an altogether rather more serious work, and even when you think it’s being light-hearted and funny there’s a seriousness behind it. Maybe 5.1 killed the concert star. So TooTull...where might you and yours see the tour...Massey perchance? Pretty nice venue...so it seems from Neil Young gigs taped there. Massey is great. I've seen Tull in Hamilton twice. With the second show, the flute was very unpleasant at times. Totally shrill. This Brick1&2 show is returning to the scene of the shrill flute crime. With all due respect, we will not return until the return of Martin Barre. Some posts on fan sites are tougher than others. ;D Censored 'cause you know the score.

Some posts on fan sites are tougher than others. ;D Censored 'cause you know the score. 5.1 did what?I listen to new sounds with eager anticipation. I saw Emerson, Lake and Palmer in Live Quad Sound August 10th, 1974. "Welcome Back My Friends". Much the same as I did in 1976 when Quad 8 tracks became available. Then came cassettes. I was afraid of cds at first although the inevitable happened. Now the whole world is digital with analog mixed in. I would not criticize anyone for not going because Martin isn't there. I myself would gladly fill the seat since life is short and future gigs are never a guarantee. If the ticket price is a factor, then anyone has an economic concern as well. Time and distance are my biggest obstacles. How Long? How Far? As far as other places (.....) being harsh, you got that right. It seems emotions are sometimes extreme. Throw in a political conspiracy and a few links from Martin's interviews. "Tull is on ice", "Tull is broken". It doesn't matter to me. All that matters is what I see and hear onstage. Priceless...

No offense taken. We all have different ideas about quality live performances. The Tull on ice or broken was out there since last summer on other places which I had read. My disappointment with any place is long over. I'm enjoying every moment here. ;D Let's Rock!

Spare me a futile trip to Canada, John...I'm 5'7"....165lbs...not gym guy strong but not mashed potato muscles either...so do you think I'd be tough enough to overpower you and your wife, force you into a car and into the venue, strap you into seats, apply 'clockwork orange eye thingies' and enjoy the gig by your side or would my ass get kicked beyond the capacity of my cut rate health insurance?
