So there I was, bored out of my skull and surrounded by boxes and boxes of custard tarts waiting to be shipped out to t**co depots when, at 3.30 this morning and on a local commercial radio station here in Cornwall called Pirate FM that normally plays "top 40" music, out of the PA system that pipes music around the factory comes the opening bass riff to Living In The Past. Oh joy, oh blessed joy - maybe things are on the up and it's an omen for good music here in Kernow. I used to hear Pirate FM playing Tull quite a bit when I was there. I kept waiting for Broadsword to play though. ;D Like all commercial stations, at least here in the UK, Pirate FM has changed for the worst over the last decade or so. Most of the good presenters have gone and it's on computer automation over night so the same songs can be heard every 3 to 4 hours. Progress . . . nah I don't think so

Raised On Rock LINK Hi everyone, hope your weekend is going well.... just a little reminder that Raised On Rock will be back live on formidable 10Radio 105.3 FM twice next week....on Monday 17th Dec and Friday 21st Dec...
And don't forget that Monday night's show will be just a bit different as I will be presenting an extended 50th anniversary Jethro Tull special...
That's right, from 8.00 pm on Monday 17th December Raised ON Rock will be live on air for 3 whole hours as I count down Tull's all-time top 20 tracks as voted for by you, the listeners of 10Radio 105.3 FM and members of various on-line Tull forums.
Over 1,800 votes have been received (and a massive thank you to all of you who took the time and trouble to vote) and these have now been crunched to produce a chart that should make for some enjoyable and interesting radio as well as provide the odd surprise....
Of course, my original intention was to play the top 30 tracks, however, due to the overall running time and 'only' having 3 hours air time means that I can only fit in the top 20.....but hey, at the end of the day it's all about quality over quantity is it not?
So, even though it now seems that the last 2 hours of my show will clash with Johnnie Walker's Led Zeppelin 50th anniversary special on BBC Radio 2, I really do hope you will join me live on 10Radio 105.3 FM (or via the live steam available on the 10Radio website) from 8.00 pm this coming Monday 17th Dec.
Anyway...you can always catch up with JW on BBC iplayer right?
Monday night live from 8.00 pm on formidable 10Radio 105.3 FM.

www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m00046d8The Rock Show with Johnnie WalkerIan Anderson chooses his Rock God28 days left to listen 57 minutes Ian Anderson, rock's only frontman-flautist (we think), chooses his ultimate Rock God for Johnnie. Ian's band, Jethro Tull, were in the thick of the British heavy blues-rock movement at the end of the 1960s. By the early 1970s, they were selling out tours across the USA and playing multiple nights at New York's Madison Square Garden, not to mention breaking ground with their unique concept albums. Ian is still at the forefront of Tull and the band celebrated their 50th anniversary last year. Also on the show, Johnnie takes a look at 'This Week In Rock'. The musical landscape is littered with anniversaries and events which were crucial to the development of our beloved genre. So, each week Johnnie will highlight a landmark in rock history, courtesy of the BBC Archives. Also on the show, the week's best new rock releases and as many classic tracks we can crowbar into an hour!

I listened to a piece of music, familiar to you all, on Planet Rock DAB last night . . . . in its entirety - side one of Thick As A Brick. Something I never thought would happen on UK radio even harking back to Alan Freeman on Radio 1 back in the 70s www.planetrock.com/music/?date=2019-07-14&hour=22

Featured yesterday evening on an acoustic rock show on The Voice, a small commercial station out of Barnstable in north Devon, Steeleye Span's "Old Matron" immediately followed by Tull's "Cup Of Wonder" - the two went wonderfully well together with Mr A's flute parts sounding as if they were meant for each other
