The set list from Reykjavik, Iceland (Harpa Concert Hall June 9, 2013)
1. Living in the Past 2. Beggar‘s Farm 3. Thick As A Brick (Edits 1-4) (Egill Olafsson voc) 4. Mother Goose (Unnur viol) 5. Banker Bets Banker Wins 6. Songs From The Woods 7. Cross-Eyed Mary 8. Boureé (Unnur viol) 9. Too Old to Rock‘n‘Roll 10. Hunting Girl 11. One White Duck/0=Nothing At All (Egill Guitar Voc, Unnur viol) 12. Brudkaupsvisur (Egill Voc) 13. My God 14. Budapest 15. Aqualung 16. Locomotive Breath (Egill Voc, Unnur viol)
Egill is very popular and great singer here in Iceland. Brudkaupsvisur is a song by the Icelandic (prog)group Thursarnir (Sometimes kalled Thursaflokkurinn or Hinn Islenski Thursaflokkur). Sung by Egill, it was defenetly the highlight of the show. Thursarnir were heavily influenced by Tull (as can be heard on their first two albums) and Egill acknowledged in the concert.

Though i would always be happier with more surprises and rarities...I'd be quite happy to see the setlist above ( adjusted for not iceland, of course) with the current lineup.....All of One White duck/ nothing at all? Nice. Budapest never unwelcome, gald to see big Brick portion. Why not more TAAB 2 ? Beggar's farm and Songs from the Wood surely highlights...bouree, LITP and Lung/breathe just plain facts of life.

I have a feeling the Ian/Florian Budapest is worthwhile. This was a killer performance last year in Germany and a very good set list in my humble opinion. I wouldn't mind this at all on July 16th.

Whilst I'm pleased to see Banker Bets in the set list I'm a bit confused as it isn't The Best of Jethro Tull, it's the Best of Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull. Isn't it? And while I'm on a rant, My Sunday Feeling should be added.

My Sunday Feeling - NO! Otherwise - right ON! WAIT - IAN ANDERSON IS JETHRO TULL. - rest in peace THIS WAS Many people believe that Ian Anderson is Jethro Tull and many people believe that Jethro Tull invented the seed drill but if tootull say's Ian Anderson is Jethro Tull then, Ian Anderson is Jethro Tull FLOWER POWER Monday, June 10, 2013 The Jethro Tull Experience Jethro Tull can refer both to the famous British farmer or a British "progressive" rock band. Both had big hair, which gives them some connection. Both enabled big business as well, perhaps unwittingly. But I'm not sure how much further that connection goes, having never heard even one of the band's songs. Jethro Tull is also the name of a flower hybrid, a fluted coreopsis. It is a hearty southern plant that grows a brilliant yellow fluted head. I have two that I planted in my garden, neither of which has done horribly well. Both are somewhat disease prone, and I am being both a conscientious organic gardener and decidedly lazy, have neglected to treat them with some insecticide. Until now. I finally dropped some 3 in 1, which I detailed in another post. It is my sincere hope that this makes the Jethro Tull blow up, as I quite like the flowers. They also last a week or more as cut flowers, which makes them wonderful to pair with herbs, miniature roses, and other small flowers for bud vases. theeastpointkitchen.blogspot.ca/2013/06/the-jethro-tull-experience.html

Great article Tootull. I love my Tull Coreopsis very much and have put it in a special Tull planter.
Florian - \f-lo-rian\ as a boy's name is pronounced FLOR-ee-an. It is of Slavic and Latin origin, and the meaning of Florian is "flower"
I want a Florian Opahle Coreopsis next. .

It's a cornerstone of my "Tull thing" and it always send a shiver down my back. 1968 - I was twenty; the time has flown by but this song still has the ability to send me back. Hey just thought - perhaps My Sunday Feeling is part of the key stone allowing time travel Stephen Hawking - eat your heart out

Roll the stone away. Ian's really time traveling with a brick at the moment. The beginning of Thick As A Brick sends me to the cornerstone of my "Tull thing" more than any other Tull track. Living in the Past calls out, too.

MORE: www.timeout.com.hk/music/features/59054/ian-anderson.htmlIf we had to nominate one instrument we think never got the traction it deserved within the rock'n'roll band setup, we'd go with the flute. On the face of it, a long, phallic wind device seems about as rock'n'roll as you can get and given the glowing precedent set by Jethro Tull over nigh-on 50 years, we're especially surprised it's never become a standard alongside the 2xguitar/bass/kit setup. Indeed, Jethro Tull is a gleaming example of what a rock band can achieve with a flute in their arsenal. Since their official formation in 1967, led by the Scottish frontman, guitarist and virtuoso flautist Ian Anderson, the British rockers have made their flute-enhanced sound work through nearly every rock'n'roll era, adapting and evolving through sounds and trends. They could use the flute in bluesy, spinny psychedelic tunes like late 60s classics, Living in the Past – still one of their best known hits. They were more than comfortable bringing those wispy wind attacks in the cerebral concept-album world of early 70s prog rock, like on their celebrated album, Aqualung. Folky? No problem, as evinced by their late 70s folk-rock album trilogy, Songs from the Wood, Heavy Horses and Stormwatch. And when they chose to evolve to include electronic, heavy rock and world music sounds over the next 20 years, that flute admirably stayed at the heart of the whole getup. It's with this kind of stylistic adaptability that Ian Anderson comes to town this fortnight, armed with a swag of Jethro Tull hits from the last half-century. It might not be a full JT setup – but if there's one thing that defines the band more than anything else, it's Ian Anderson's flute. That, we can promise, will be in full force. Hi all. I loved this new Tour of Ian, "The best of". It seems to me that the Band has done well taking a break from 2 TaaB, because as we know, it isnot one of the most easy show to perform on stage: there are many roles, changing situations, music, etc. For this, the Band seemed to me relaxed , positively. I must say that unfortunately, at the beginning of "Witches Promises", Ian for a couple of seconds, hardly sang, a decline in (short time ) of voice ... can happen, and it's certainly not a problem for me. He insisted once again with "Songs for the Woods" with whom he has always struggled, however without any major problems for the rest of the show. For everything else, very very well. Surprisingly, John Goodier sang in short pieces. No choreography, due, I think the fact that "The best Of" it's a fairly short Tour. About the location of Turin, nothing to say, a classic place for concerts, while I must say all the worst possible for the following evening. I had already heard of the "Castle", and who knows what I thought it was. Ridiculous!! A kind of fence almost ruined, with high walls, not optimal acoustics and air circulation (think there were 37 degrees). Strong odor of lousy food, , very little merchandising, a banquet 2 x 2, and any posters at all to remember the event... Truly a sad managing. Anyway really well by the Band. The show, as always, deserves a lot. Here we have the precious set lis for that evening : Beggar Farm. Witches promises. Thick s Brick 1 . Banker bets Banker wins . Wootton Bassett Town. Cross eyed Mary . Bouree Too old to Rock and Roll. SFTW . Hunting Girl. My God. Budapest . Aqualung . Locomotive Breath

Google translate: Ian Anderson guida la locomotiva nel rock www.larena.it/stories/Cultura_e_Spettacoli/526293_ian_anderson_guida_la_locomotiva_nel_rock/Ian Anderson (and bassist David Goodier) in concert at the castle of Villafranca PHOTOS Brenzoni Ian Anderson driving the locomotive in rock Villafranca Castle. The "Pied Piper" has opened a new exhibition Folk Verona. Forty years of Jethro Tull opening with "Living in the past", through Aqualung, and closing with a rousing "Locomotive Breath" Aqualung, the old tramp of the famous album cover of Jethro Tull, it borders on the walls: it is now a pixie with the appendix of a flute, trained to hold a two-hour concert on one leg, albeit with a break. Aqualung is not curved on itself: it is a puppet without wires, from sudden jerks, but also by sinuous movements. Aqualung does not have the raspy voice of an old man, though - it must be recognized - the stamp is no longer the original. The stage presence and the ability to catch the eye mask, however, the inevitable change. Aqualung is not only a physical presence: it is the handful of notes that opened the concert and then the river of music, feelings and emotions that eventually floods the stage illuminated by red lights, warm lights that pulsate with the public. Aqualung is the chameleon-like Ian Anderson at the castle of Villafranca Verona opened the exhibition Folk rallying with its own charism and its two thousand fans of Jethro Tull for a live concert, not at all nostalgic, despite the over forty were the vast majority of viewers . About the overflowing Pied Piper - with inflation of guitarists that there was, he chose the flute to excel in at least one field up to do with herself and the instrument a single icon - who also plays guitar and his small, could, would give even more proof of his talent as an instrumentalist. But also about dell'affiatato group that has followed him and accompanied him, who sang a duet with him: John O'Hara on keyboards, David Goodier on bass, Florian Opahle on guitar and Scott Hammond on drums. Music clear, scratchy, and a practically perfect harmony with the leader. "Living in the past" could have been called the whole concert that retraced his forty year career of Jethro Tull. And is in fact the song of 1972, after the mention of Aqualung, to inaugurate the ride anthology, still familiar to those who for some time, perhaps for years, no longer listening Thick as a Brick or Bourée, the steps to put the flute in the circle of rock instruments, first of dell'infilata Too Old to Rock'n'roll, Songs from the Wood, Hunting Girl, My God, Budapest, Aqualung. Locomotive Breath is still missing to complete the journey in the history of prog, but Ian Anderson and the audience knows, there is no time to give rhythm to the classic 're-FUO, FUO-ri, "the Pied Piper and the band are again on stage. The whistle of the locomotive that runs the race rips the air at 23.48, the train leaves while the audience accumulates under the stage and the spectators of the rise numbered seats on the chairs. All with their hands up: to surrender to the power of a song that has made the history of rock or to accompany the rhythm, or simply to keep as high as possible the phone, capture images and music. The stage is no longer lit red but blue, the color of the night. The train stops his run overwhelming after seven minutes, shortly before midnight. Seven minutes that alone would have earned him the whole concert. Andrea Sambugaro
