A fantastic display of singing and acting by the great late Captain Beefheart shown last Saturday on BBC4 The old Grey Whistle Test 70's Gold.

You're dead right there Bunkerfan, I saw the show - the BBC must have a whole bunch of TOGWT stuff in its' archives, makes a very nice change from the usual X factor Britain's got talent no hopers.

A good evenings viewing on BBC 4 what with the Old Grey Whistle Test programme and the two repeated Fairport Convention programmes. Shame there isn't a BBC TV channel just showing similar footage for us all to enjoy.

I didn't know this programme was on, it was only after I did my usual trawl through the channels late at night that I came across it. It was compelling viewing and certainly worth watching. I'm led to believe the BBC in there wisdom lost or destroyed most of TOGWT tapes.

I'm led to believe the BBC in there wisdom lost or destroyed most of TOGWT tapes. Rumour has it that many OGWT programmes were recorded over so that the video tape could be used again for "Pot Black". For those who don't know, "Pot Black" was a snooker competition and very popular with certain snookerites in the UK. Nothing to do with illicit substances but whether the technicians on the programme were druggies is open to question I suppose.
