Ok Here's my favourite song that features in my top 5 fav songs of all time! As usual with utube you get the choice of a good recording of a song accompanied with a cheesy video or a dodgy recording of a Live performance ...however the video was too cheesy and out of place with the song so I've opted for the rare Live performance. Lindisfarne imo where one of the best English bands of the early 70's and I have the memory of meeting the band when they played in Glasgow. I was part of the events team at Uni. Alan Hull was a great songwriter and still not appreciated enough. He was also a lovely bloke and wore my purple- wide brimmed -floppy hat on stage throughout the show. Hurrah, free from work at last! It's nice to be back amigos. One of the few good things about my long shifts is I do get to spend alot of time with my mp3 player so I've been listening to loads of new music this week and top of my list is German band Sylvan. If you like that melodic prog stuff that bands like Marillion & Mostly Autumn make I reckon you'll love this. No video though so just sit back and soak it up. The Colours Changed

I heard that The Small Faces (or at least some of them) are getting things together to go out on the nostalgia circuit - there's a website under construction so that might lend some validity to the rumor. So you may be able to recapture more of your "yoof!" www.thesmallfaces.com/

got this link earlier - now this is the kind of thing that brings out what's soft and squishy in me: You know that look the Grinch gives when his heart grows and that stupid smile crosses his face - that's me. That was great, what this thread is all about, cheers rebecca. Do you know the story behind that being put together? At last, some recognition for the wonderful songwriting of Karine Polwart! I heard Rivers Run on the way into work on radio 2 no less and I just found this clip of Maid Of The Loch from Scottish TV. Maybe this will be her year? uk.youtube.com/watch?v=VmxytyDWur0BTW, if you like this song you can sign up for free at www.karinepolwart.com and download it and other tracks too. But buy an album or two as well, they are all brilliant!

Col, I can't tell if you're asking because you want to know, or because you want to tell! But anyway it's connected to an organization called Play For Change which seems to be a charity that provides for music education and resources around the world. The website is Playforchange.com, or maybe .org. I'm a sucker for any kind of "let's make the world a better place and have fun while we're doing it" thing, even if it's just the sentiment. Here's another one, from Old Crow Medicine Show, my favorite new old-timey bands (sounds contradictory but not). This is probably the only bluegrass song on the planet that name drops Buddha. And final proof that acoustic string instruments are superior to all others: you can play 'em on the bus!

There is no doubt that these boys from Sweden are influenced by J.T. (and Genesis) Not a bad thing mind you! I also think about 26 to 37 seconds into their song," Giant Games" sounds a lot like the part before Tull's A Passion Play, Lover of The black and white.... You have to type in Black Bonzo and look for Giant Games. www.last.fm/You can listen to their stuff on Myspace and there is a new cd coming out. www.myspace.com/blackbonzoThey pay a nice tribute to their " Prog'" forefathers who came before them. Quiet day for posting, innit? Because we were talking about Talking Heads not long ago, I pulled out the Stop Making Sense DVD and have been watching it - and I ended up watching it twice. I figure one great cut from the greatest concert movie of all time (in my humble? opinion) surely has to count as one of the greatest videos ever. It's even better if you go to the link and expand it so it fills your screen: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ozc70JPGRMQWho got a match?

I just posted a clip of Clutch covering Cross Eyed mary on the grammys thread and I realised I hadn't played any Clutch for ages. What a stonking great noise they make, great band!! This probably not to everybodys taste being a such bloody racket but sometimes I need my fillings rattled out so this is for me and, if you like big bad heavy rock, for you too.

Bloody 'eck I hope not. Maybe it will be just the big record companies not putting the latest indie band and rap videos up there any more, so it might actually turn out to be a good thing! I think with the way people listen to music and try before they buy nowadays bands not having access to youtube will actually be a bad thing for the music business. If I hear about a new band that I might be interested in then I will use youtube to check them out first, and if I like them I'll buy them! IMO youtube helps good bands to get a leg up and make a living.

But I definitely agree with you Col, it's a definite boon, but I guess this seems to be more about them than us.

So it seems to have nothing to do with us at all...
This is completely off the subject, but Daleks is pronounced...? They said day'liks in a book at work but I don't think that's right, although I don't remember for sure. That's something we really ought to have right before it goes out.

This is going to be a lot more easy on the ear than Clutch!! Steve Rothery (Marillion) has a new album from his collaboration with Hannah Stobart called The Wishing Tree. The album is called Ostara and it is lovely, could be one of the best albums of the year for me. Well worth checking out!
