Here is a movie that means a lot for a lot of people... A very romantic Christmas movie... but also a good story... the snow scenes are wonderful, the music is perfect... This movie is a must in Germany, and since it’s release in 1973 it has been a must see up to Christmas. They show it about the 21 of December every year. Cinderella is in this version a sweet girl, and she is good to everyone, but I wonder if she is some kind of witch… a good witch though… She has a magical owl, and she speaks to animals, and they seem to understand her… “Run to your owner,” she says, and the horse that she has stolen from the prince, runs straight back to him… She can hide in the tree tops, and suddenly she is gone… The tree Hazelnuts are magical too… Her father is dead, and the wicket step mom, and her daughter are in power now… When they shot the snow scenes, they were lucky… They found new fallen snow… Real snow… The soundtrack is wonderful… It fits the scenes like a glove… When the prince is fooling around together with his friends in the woods, the prince shoots down the three hazelnuts and they land in the arms of the man that has been sent to town in order to buy all kinds of expensive things for the stepmom and her daughter… He gives the hazelnuts to Cinderella not knowing that they are magical… These hazelnuts will eventually help her to get the prince, and by shooting down the hazelnuts, the prince seals his destiny, without knowing it… A destiny that he will later gladly embrace… She is a master shooter, and she just can’t miss… Magical again? The birds help her of course when she wants them to separate the peas from the ashes…

The Monkees on The Johnny Cash Show 1969 An incredible piece of Monkees history! Invited as guests by Johnny Cash himself, The Monkees, now a trio as Peter Tork left in December of 1968. Filmed in the historic Ryman Auditorium (aka "The Grand Ole Opry") on May 6th, 1969.
Michael, David & Micky, down south following their recent concert date in Houston, Texas on May 4th, traveled to Nashville to tape this appearance for "The Johnny Cash Show", which later aired July 19th on The ABC Network. Starting with Johnny singing, "Last Train To Clarksville", taken over by The Monkees show version of the hit until Micky protests for something "new"! The trio then do an amazing performance of Nesmith's "Nine Times Blue". Johnny then joins The Monkees on one of his hits, "Everybody Loves A Nut", written by Jack Clement. It became a staple on his variety show as he sang it with other show guests.
Johnny invited the group (According to the NME) to his home to go fishing and to enjoy a home cooked meal, "Cash-style'! It was reported that Johnny told the boys that he has never enjoyed working with anyone as much as The Monkees!

I hope for no casualties nor extreme property damage but must admit I like the idea of 'Ian' coming ashore and shaking things up a bit.

Praying for everyone affected by this storm Hi Jim! Hope you are staying safe from the effects of Ian. Where do you live in North Carolina? When my dad was in the Marines, we lived on base housing at Parris Island (Beaufort, S.C.). In 1959, we lived through Hurricane Gracie, which landed very near Beaufort as a Category 4 hurricane. On base, we lived in a section called Laurel Bay. There was little or no trees in that development, so the damage was minimal, though the city of Beaufort suffered significant damage (est. 14 million dollars). We lived on a street that was shaped like a "C". We lived at the top of the C. I never knew it then, but the middle had a line of trees across the street and behind it was Broad River, which is fairly large. I`m surprised that we didn`t have severe flooding. I pray that you are as lucky as we were. In 1961, when my dad was transferred to Camp Lejeune, we lived on base in Jacksonville N.C. for two years. Take care! John
