It's a little known fact the Madge Bostock's sister was a well known British cook by the name Fanny Braddock. i49.images obliterated by tinypic/2ugjjt1.jpg[/IMG] However Madge has picked up a few tips in her time and is now decided to share her many homely recipes with the nation showcasing the best of British food. Tomorrow - Madge and her many ways with sheep offal. i46.images obliterated by tinypic/2v2w8s3.jpg[/IMG]

Mind you Mrs Maddog is Scottish as was one of my Grandmothers so it must run in the family. Do you know a really good recipe for hot and spicy boiled beef and carrots or failing that a decent medium hot and spicy curry?

Madge says; "I keep it simple - Gerald likes it that way and I only argue with the old bugger when he's late back from the pub. Here's my recipe for boiled beef and carrots" Step 1. i45.images obliterated by tinypic/4vg6lt.jpg[/IMG] Step 2 i48.images obliterated by tinypic/vdmnir.jpg[/IMG] Step 3 i48.images obliterated by tinypic/20uqsgo.jpg[/IMG] Step 4 a bit of this i48.images obliterated by tinypic/8xvm9f.jpg[/IMG] "Gerald has no truck with spicy foods - I tried this once and he thought it too exotic" i47.images obliterated by tinypic/117wwm1.jpg[/IMG]

Mr A popped in last night and we (as usual) got on to the subject of curries. Mr A has made known his love of the spicy stew on many occasions and has even given us some advice as to what to do when entering such exotic establishments. www.j-tull.com/musicians/iananderson/indian.htmlHowever you should have seen his face when I presented my corned beef curry with rice and potatoes, garnished with a flurry of shredded carrots. i49.images obliterated by tinypic/35hpg29.jpg[/IMG]

Many thanks to Moderator John for his recent posts on old English beans and all the pomp, ceremony and history surrounding the very old brown bean. An excellent website, supplied by the old sage, called The Foods Of England. A book of traditional fare throughout the ages. www.foodsofengland.co.uk/index.htmSome interesting meals such as Lambs Ears(offal meat) Nodding Pudding(mashed potato baked in a pie) and Mousecatchers(biscuits) Yum! My favourite - Sweet Pattee "Minced veal kidney with spices, salt, currants, sugar and lemon, baked or fried in puff paste" (Moxon 1764) My turn to cook tonight. i65.images obliterated by tinypic/t0iafn.jpg[/IMG] Yum!

Due to a raised level of flatulence I've decided to give up eating Carlin peas till next Carlin Sunday so I'm giving this a miss as well.
