OMG pretty confident bloke too - he knows how to grab an audience, sell himself and contradict the accompanying musicians (?)

Little known fact that Willie encouraged his next door neighbour, also a hearth-standing albeit pipe smoker, to appreciate the squeezebox i48.images obliterated by tinypic/zk6gck.jpg[/IMG]

The Hillbilly one has some lovely song titles...you couldn't help but fall for "I seen her first" and the S****** and Tatooed - thats not the Scottish word scunnered is it? "I Wouldn't Take Her To A Dog Fight In Case She'd Win"

AAAAAAAAAARGHHHH....I bought that album...with very, very hard earned pop-bottle deposit money...convinced i had found a good deal...it cost $1.99 at the local 7-11 store and the real Monkeee's second album cost $3.99 at the record store. Took it home IT WASN'T THE MONKEES...just a crappy band doing covers of Monkee songs from the first two albums and the TV show. The 7-11 would not give me my money back and I'm still MAD.

I think we've all been there. Can anyone remember the Embassy records at Woolworths? Some of the cover artists weren't too bad while others were awful.

Well since I already admitted shoplifting from Woolworth's I might as well admit the pop bottles i turned in for the 2 or 5 cent deposit were not, strictly speaking, found in parks and roadsides...most of them came from a pop machine in the basement of a nearby hospital with a big rack along the side for empties....my friend Ken Fuller ( a gentile, if you must know....leading an innocent Jew down the path of crime, of course), and I figured out that when no one was watching we could walk off with all the deposit bottles and convey them to the nearby grocery store for cold, hard cash....not a thought for the poor machine operator and his starving children.....maybe it was karma that found me investing some of this ill gotten bhunda in a Monkees rip-off album.

Brilliant story. I'm surprised you're not President or The Ruler of The Queen's Navy with a background like that.

Only ever bought a couple because the father of one of my friends played on them. He never received much in royalties and became a plumber and decorator. Now that's rock 'n' roll.
