Beggar's Farm are a very good Tull tribute band. Dare I say that Martin should consider doing a few more gigs with these guys.

Martin Barre & Beggar's Farm Published on 9 Jul 2012 by Sergio Carratalá Lillo Thanks maddogfagin for sharing here my own stuff, I'm pleased for this. I was present for my first time at the Tullianos Convention in Gavá- Barcelona- Spain and all i lived was magical. This vid of mine you've added was really fantastic though the best song IMO was the one my camera sadly ended running out of battery . This is the one, enjoy as it lasts: Pay attention as the moment Martin signals with his head to Beggar's Farm singer to start singing,as telling : Here it's ME (Martin) who RULES That's true. At the mealing time I was surprinsingly placed on just beside Dan Crisp and Maartin Allcock, great people and also worthy mentioning how delicious spanish paella was ;D best regards the whole forum.

I remember meeting some Spanish Tull fans, in Barcelona ( Who, BTW, would kill me for calling them Spanish...they were Catloons dammit...cataloons)...in 1979...who said that Aqualung was contraband untill just a few years earlier....Franco seemed to have a special dislike of blasphemitic rock and roll and Tull was prominent on the forbidden list!

You're right the Catalans do not consider ourselves Spanish, our language and our customs are different (for example bulls are prohibited in Catalonia) now we are a nation without a state, we try to get our independence democratically . Sure you have seen on Barça matches the same number of flags of Catalonia (yellow and red) that FC Barcelona flags (scarlet blue), but surely no Spanish flags This is no place to talk politics, but I will explain some historical data: Thomas Bisson says that historians ago Long considered the true model medieval Catalan parliament Courts. Thus, the English historian of constitutionalism Charles Howard McIlwain wrote: "in the definition of the organization and the regularity of the procedure, or the English Parliament and French States can be compared with the Parliament of Catalonia" XIV century Currently Catalonia has its own president and parliament, operates autonomously but pay taxes to the Spanish government. Catalonia lost its freedom as a country in 1714 Aqualung was really censored by dictator Franco (1892-1975) In Spain, due to the prevailing censorship during the dictatorship of Franco, this album was not released until 1976, and an edition in which the song "Locomotive Breath" was censored and replaced by "Glory Row". This last song appear later in other countries in compilations or as bonus track. This turned the Spanish edition of the album in a very popular item for collectors from other countries. I hope have clarified your doubts and do not cause headache Tull50

Spain in 1979 was delightful...a nation ( and yes, nations) breathing free. The people I meet in Tarragona and Barcelona remain my friends to this day...small claim to fame...I brought my Frisbee to the Costa Brava and taught Ultimate frisbee to boys and girls from Sitges to L'hospitalet infant....if you ever see anyone along that coast, between about 40 and 60 who seems to have extra-ordinary frisbee skills...yup...I was there.....I may have exagerrated Tull's popularity a bit...but no harm done...I mean...who here will blame me for trying to be the pied piper of Tull while Catalunyan media was bombarding kids with Michael Jackson and Bob Marley...two artists unavoidable in 1979 along that coast!

Cheers Maddogfagin I'm glad we cleared this up, due to my bad use of English grammar was not sure... Also in the 70s, during a performance in Barcelona, censorship officials were determined to revise their medieval robes tight mesh. On this situation, Ian Anderson has joked many times since, until then, as he said ironically, had never considered a "sex symbol" that could excite the libido of their fans

Well I am between 40 and 60 years, exactly half 50 (Tull50) next year I have to change the name ... The convention takes place in a village near Sitges, you remember Castelldefels? well is where the musicians are housed I live in a town by the sea (Arenys de Mar) near Barcelona, in winter is very quiet but as the Catalan coast in summer due the tourism transforms. Sure you also heard during those years Boney M, but that's just in discotheques, of course there are places where you can hear good music, but that only the locals know it, tourists usually go to play the discos... Today everything is still very similar to those times during the summer

These pictures and videos are great Tull50 - thanks so much! Tell you what!! - it looks like a very very cool spot for a convention. Everyone looks very chilled and comfortable - if Steelmonkey get's an invite does that include me? Correct me (and wikipedia) if I'm wrong but is there a celtic connection with Catalan? Wiki reckons the celts invaded Catalania way back in time but I thought there was another connection with the celts of Brittany/ Cornwall etc? We won't get into politics but you know us Scots are thinking of divorcing England

We have a great affection and admiration, I think Dee is a Tulliana more missdeepalmer.com/

We won't get into politics but you know us Scots are thinking of divorcing England Of course you are also is invited to come to the next convention The place where they perform is a outdoor auditorium located in a park, really comfortable and spacious. If the Catalans keep track of the process of independence Scottish Celtic culture is really widespread in northern Spain, the Celts invaded northern Iberia and let their culture and customs. That's why in northern Spain there are many Celtic music groups such as Ñu, Mago de Oz, Celtas Cortos, Judith Mateo etc Celtic religions such as Druidism and Wiccan are followed in northern Spain Thanks for your comments, is no place to talk politics, but I think we've focused very culturally Happy Samhain!

I agree that MB is top ten....my other 9? (not in order...just in order of me remembering) Jerry Garcia, Hendrix, Richard Thompson, Prince, Mark Knopfler, Slash, Neil Young, Randy California and Mike Campbell ( Petty's guy).
Bubbling under: Randy Bachman, Steve Stills, Steve Howe, David Gilmour, Kirk Hammet , John Cippolina
Over-rated and/or not my cup of tea: Clapton, Jeff Beck, Satriani, Stevie Ray Vaughn , Townshend, Richards
Don't even ask: Santana

My main ten will be Martin Barre and his six sting electric guitar, one day you'll be a star Martin Barre, Jimi Hendrix, Jerry Garcia, Richard Thompson, John Renbourn, John McLaughlin, Pat Metheny, Robert Fripp ,John Abercrombie, Jorma Kaukonen. My bubble people are Neil Young, though only of the Crazy Horse variety, not the folkie guy, Pete Townshend, Frank Zappa, Steve Kimock, Duane Allman and Dicky Betts. I will make the king of mall rock guitar, circa 1984, Eddie Van Halen as my don't ask guy. Barely believe I have comprised such a list without mentioning George Harrison and Keith Richard, sort of feel like I have insulted the family but...there you go. Disgracing the family name, long my specialty.

I have not seen it more often than others because it is my second favorite band, but because it has been many times in Spain Maybe John McLaughlin and Gary Moore are a little further down, but I want cite them
