Chateau D'Isaster
Side 1 (22 min)
1. Prelude 2. Scenario 3. Audition 4. Skating Away (On the Thin Ice of the New Day) 5. Sailor 6. No Rehearsal
Side 2 (22 min)
1. First Post 2. Animelee 3. Tiger Toon 4. Look at the Animals 5. Law of the Bungle 6. Law of the Bungle Part II 7. Bungle in the Jungle (without strings)
Side 3 (21 min)
1. Left Right 2. Solitaire 3. Critique Oblique 4. Post Last
Side 4 (?? min)
Unrecorded
Really interesting. I think you might be onto something, with each side being a 20 minute suite ala "Tales from Topographic Oceans". Had it been released, it would probably have been the best progressive rock album of all time. But then, "A Passion Play" kind of is anyway, in my opinion. :-)

JUST GOT A CLEARAUDIO CLEVERCLAMP,USED IT ON TAAB AND WAS SURE PERCEPTION INCREASED.WILL TRY NEXT ON APP MAYBE UPDATE THEN ON THEORY OF APP TAAB &TAAB2 THOUGH I CANNOT USE IT ON A CD.IS THERE VINYL OF TAAB2? Sure is although "Out of stock" at Burning Shed. Bound to turn up on ebay, but at a price. www.burningshed.com/store/jethrotull/product/444/4141/Jethro Tull Thick As a Brick / Thick As a Brick 2 (Special Vinyl Collection) Thick As A Brick (2012 Steven Wilson mix) and Thick As A Brick 2 combined in a double 180gm vinyl set with an accompanying 72 page book. The book contains: * the original TAAB 1 newspaper rebuilt for the 12 x 12 format on 16 pages of newspaper style paper * the 2012 TAAB 2 newspaper printed on gloss paper (originally pdf files on the DVD). * an article by Classic Rock's Dom Lawson about TAAB 1. * an Ian Anderson interview conducted by The Reverend George Pitcher covering both albums, and the 2012 TAAB tour. * many rare 1972/73 photos from photographers Didi Zill and Robert Ellis covering 'street' and live situations as well as the 2012 tour * photos by Martin Webb. * memories of the recording from engineer Robin Black. * recording and touring memories from Martin Barre, Ian Anderson and Jeffrey Hammond. * a Q & A with tour manager Eric Brooks with tour memorabilia and the full 1972 itinerary. * Italian and German lyric translations of the original album and German, Czech, Italian, Polish, Russian, Spanish and Portuguese lyric translations for TAAB 2.

So I guess this new work isn't APP2 and isn't likely to come across as TAAB3, but something on its own. I'm thinking APP1 is a magnificent accomplishment and in my opinion far better than that mysterious Chateau D'Isaster collection, which, as listed as Sides 1,2,3 and 4, would not be a great album, but more like the early sketches for something, and needing lots more working through, up, over and above. I get the impression that during the Chateau time, the energy was flying everywhere and in great abundance, but the sessions weren't yet delivering clarity. That's fine, you can't build something until you've got some material! Tull's always had lots of material to deliver, and no doubt 3x as much as we've ever heard.
How about this wild suspicion: that H.E., being a spinoff of the TAAB3 idea, may in fact adopt some of the creative method of APP, without trying in any way to be APP2. Just looking at APP1 and thinking "there's great ways of doing things there, let's see if that might help."

Just looking at APP1 and thinking "there's great ways of doing things there, let's see if that might help." I certainly get the impression by all the comments made so far about HE that it's going to be an album that you have to listen to in its entirety and not cherry pick individual tracks. I can listen to individual tracks on, for example's sake, COAK or This Was but APP and TAAB2 I always have to listen to them as an complete listening experience. If, as I suspect may happen, there is a promo single released from the album then, as happened with "Banker Bets ..." from TAAB2, the song may well be taken slightly out of context. But then it's for the publicity people to decide and I hope they get the decision right if they go down that course of action.
