Had the good fortune to bid on ebay and win a copy of the Stand Up tour programme. My original was water damaged in a minor flood many years ago. They normally go for around £50 but I paid considerably less. I'd be pretty damn chuffed if I found something like that again !

I wonder when this was taken....72? 76? I'm asking because Martin is (or looks) thin...so I guess he got fat between 77 and 83 more or less then had the dramatic weight loss/ fitness kick starting an about 84-85?

I'm assuming you are referring to the signed Martin photo, & The photo is 1973 As for Marty being fat? I really don't recall him ever being fat...

I guess he wasn't fat...a bit roly-poly as we short guys can't help ( at feet seven inches and 160lbs no one mistakes me for Kate Moss's brother...well, Russell Brand did but he was high at the time). It was just noticeable in 84 when he started the running and marathon training and all that and really shrunk in front of our very eyes that made me imagine a chubbier stage....he looks great in that 1973 picture.

I'm in Mexico waiting for some enlightened local to notice my Tulliano shirt. In the mean time pop down the local record store and search out for those elusive Mexican pressings of Tull albums. Have a good few days holiday Bernie.

Made me look;>) Was Martin's mixer in Robin Trower's band ? This is interesting enough; more: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robin_TrowerIn Procol Harum Trower typically played Gibson guitars. Upon launching his solo career Trower changed to a Fender Stratocaster almost exclusively. During a tour with Jethro Tull, Robin arrived early for a sound check and found Martin Barre’s Stratocaster (which Barre used for slide playing) propped up against an amplifier. Trower picked up the guitar, plugged it in, and with a shout which resounded around the auditorium yelled, "This is it!" "I then switched to Strat" he says. "Up to then I had been playing Les Pauls." Since then Trower has been a longtime proponent of the Fender Stratocaster.

I saw this advert in the free paper I read on my free bus ride this morning. It looks a bit much for a mug but there again some people call me Scrooge.
