I've listened to CD1.....and loved it, but whether it's any different to the last remaster or the original.......I don't know to be honest!! I love the extra tracks on CD1. The different takes on some of the tracks are great It was IMHO a great album in the first place

I hope someone puts the orphan songs on you tube..without a CD player, I have no way to hear them and have not seen anywhere to buy them digital. My own fault for letting all music delivery sources lapse except my phone and tablet.

Some of us have! It used to be on the "White Bear" pub wall in North Yorkshire, a real traditional music pub! They had a Tull and Fairport display. Close up the sword was battered and taped together after its long nightly tour. The Sword is long gone now and the pub last time I went was a trendy bar Have a pic of a much younger me with it somewhere. What struck me was it was nothing like the Sword on the album cover. The tour Sword had kind of talons on the end of the crosspiece. Made of fibre glass I believe.

Calling all Jethro Tull fans !!!! Ian Anderson tells the story of 1982's The Broadsword & The Beast album, as well as discussing how the band fared throughout the 80s, in the brand new issue of Prog Magazine. Get it in the shops. Or you can buy it online here: bit.ly/buyprogmag

Finally got my ears on the Broadsword extras. Some very interesting material. Unheard songs ( Inverness Sleeper, Me Dinosaur, Calafel), worthwhile alternate takes and fun snippets. But seriously, does including the 'Beastie' band shout backing tracks not open us up to parody? I mean, really. I guess its short enough to be okay, Like ads included on prior boxes, but do we need it?

But seriously, does including the 'Beastie' band shout backing tracks not open us up to parody? I mean, really. I guess its short enough to be okay, Like ads included on prior boxes, but do we need it? The thing is, If "Beastie Shouts" had not been included, it would have become quite legendary like some sort of "lost tape" , and the mystery would have made the track a far bigger deal than it is. I remember for years there was a speculation around a possible song from the "Chateau" period, called "Sailor". It became legendary among Tull fans for years, all the more so because not only had none of us heard it, but did it actually really exist or was it some sort of urban legend? Eventually someone sent me a tape with a very poor sound quality version on it. Then of course in more recent times it appeared on the box set. The verdict? not a great song, easily forgettable and quite unworthy of its holy grail status that it held for decades. So there is the dilemma. Nothing is more desirable that that which we cannot have. IA has alluded to this when asked about previous box sets. Either release everything warts and all and risk being accused of releasing sub standard or unfinished tracks , or leave thing out and have them grow in the imagination to lost masterpieces.

What blows my mind in my neck of the woods here in Australia is how many people that are unaware that Blu-ray and DVD players play CD’s, including local musicians and a renowned music journalist of many decades that didn’t know till I PM’d him! I regularly see local musicians post on their pages something along the lines of “now I know none of you have CD players anymore, but would you please consider buying my CD anyway?”! Went to a gig the other night and my fellow boomers were taking great pleasure in swanning over to the merch desk and proclaiming loudly, “we don’t even have a CD player in the car anymore!” and expressing astonishment that they weren’t just selling vinyl. I’m tipping a sizeable % of ‘em own either a Blu-ray or DVD player, but are also oblivious to the fact that they play CD’s.
