Local stores telling me release date is tomorrow, not today...who woulda thunk mail order was the way to go?...I suffer in silence SILENCE Sucks Bernie but I will bet you get through today. Come to think of that that does ring a bell dating back to my unbroken string between 73 and probably 99 of having any Tull release on the day of release, that does ring a bell, Tuesdays. I should have mine by tonight. Having a hard earned reputation locally of roughly 100 people probably thinking of Tull within seconds of being reminded of me, wins me certain things like free tickets in some cases from folks I barely know, or tonight picking up the 2 disc thingy for free after a friend makes a copy of it.

Local stores telling me release date is tomorrow, not today...who woulda thunk mail order was the way to go?...I suffer in silence SILENCE Yes, the US release dates are on Tuesday. I only lucked out once. In the 80`s, I bought my Tull releases from a little record shop in the next town. The owner was a Tull fan, he would always put the Tull release number one on the marquee. I went in on the Friday before Rock Island was released. He told me he couldn`t sell it to me until Tuesday. I thanked him and he said "Wait". He went in the back room and came out with the CD and cassette. He asked which one and I said "Both". But I had to promise not to tell anyone I had it until Tuesday. Unfortunately, the store closed before Catfish was released. Tower Records use to stay open after midnight on Monday`s to sell new releases. But that was after Dot Com. They`re closed too. I will be at Newbury Comics shortly after 10 AM tommorrow. I`ll have to have my own countdown clock. Let`s see...21 hours 37 minutes 08 seconds....

Bloody Hell!! according to Amazon the order has been dispatched with an estimate date ...........11th APRIL FFS!! That's ridiculous! I find that Amazon orders usually arrive about 3 days after I get the email confirming dispatch. That's using standard delivery. So you should get it this week. whatever they say .... When did you order? I put my order in about 10 days ago - and they sent it out on Thurs, arriving today.

Hi to All. Between little days I would have to receive the new TaaB 2 Cd and DvD also I'm much expectant one for this. Me it does not seem still true. After so many years a new Album of my favourite Band . I hope to live the same emotions of when all the other Albums came out , year after year. I hope that so will be the same also for you all . Also, the forthcoming Easter hollidays are a very good occasion to get time for the best listening of this new beautiful new work, without any hurry. . Michele.

I listened to TAAB2 for most of last night. We now have the songs sequenced together without the annoying gaps between songs and it certainly tells the story of Gerald’s life much better now and deserves all the plaudits that others have given it. Standout songs for me are “Banker Bets, Banker Wins”, “Wootton Bassett Town”, “ A Change Of Horses” and imo the best of the bunch “Kismet In Suburbia” which I reckon should be in the live repertoire for some years to come. The dvd is revealing in that it features the band live in the studio during the making of the album and for those people who have their own studios will be revelation as will be the inclusion of Steve Wilson talking about mixing the album. With the amount of equipment (most of it looks new) I can only hope it means we’ll get more recordings in the future considering the financial outlay that has certainly been made.
The interviews with band members show how the songs developed as is the reading of the lyrics with IA set to the backdrop of Wootton Bassett for example and also IA sitting behind a desk which reminded me a bit of the famous Monty Python link of John Cleese as the newsreader.
All in all a great album and, whilst I appreciate that others will have their own views both for and against, I for one welcome TAAB2 into the catalogue of Jethro Tull/Ian Anderson albums.

It's a tricky decision and not one I've got to make yet considering Royal Mail over here is Snail Mail or it's all to to do with Amazon i don't know because I'm staring at thin air instead of TAAB2 In answer to your question I think you should wait till the holidays, don't read too much of the comments so far and savour the first listen, sitting back and reclining with a large glass of fine Italian vino

Canadian pages; ca.music.yahoo.com/blogs/new-this-week/flatts-sharp-081705644.htmlJethro Tull's Ian Anderson: Thick As A Brick 2 (Capitol) I don't know what it is, but here in 2012 I have lately found myself completely immersed in the works of artists that, shall we say, I overlooked during their commercial prime! Deep Purple! Golden Earring! And, perhaps most relevantly, Jethro Tull--who return here officially as "Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson" with an apparent sequel to their 1972 classic Thick As A Brick that is just as gloriously weird and nonsensical as its predecessor! Luckily, those days when we all would religiously buy 12-inch vinyl albums, bring them home and repeatedly listen to them in order to make sense of them--even when they were completely nuts--are long past! Now we just buy them, see if they sound good, open up junk mail about real estate, retirement plans, and refinancing your house, and let them play in the background while we open bottles of single malt scotch and ponder our lost youth! And if the dudes still play in tune? Spectacular! So this new album is pretty sweet, and its accompanying second disc--a DVD offering up the same album in 5.1 surround sound and a bunch of videos--is a wonderful additional value! Nothing will ever be this good again! www.montrealgazette.com/entertainment/Nicki+Minaj+reloads+misfires/6400724/story.htmlIan Anderson Thick as a Brick 2 EMI After 40 years, what could Ian Anderson possibly add to Jethro Tull's most exaggerated mission statement, the 44-minute opus Thick as a Brick? Nothing, as it turns out. Detractors who misunderstood the original album's satirical intent have long given up, while true believers have been pre-sold. But those who are even mildly curious should listen to Anderson's most consistent and rewarding work in many years. Filled with sly musical quotations from the original TAAB and affectionate references to other Tull favourites, this wonderful sequel looks at the different ways the 1972 record's 10-year-old protagonist Gerald Bostock might have turned out. Along the way, ever-present social dilemmas like economic meltdown, sexual abuse and military missteps are addressed, supported by robust melodies that evoke vintage Tull. Rating 4 Podworthy: Adrift and Dumbfounded

Not happy with CD Wow!! My copy has gone on back order . I've contacted them and asked why and how to cancel my order. Kick arse Ash. Let us know how you get on. I got the money back from CD Wow. Then ordered TAAB2 from Play.com last night. Email today to say it's on the way I normally find Play.com to be fast. I don't know why I didn't do that in the first place

I'm glad to hear that there are those that enjoy TAAB2.
That's not me however, having had numerous opportunities to listen to it, I actually cancelled my amazon order. I don't want it. I'll be able to borrow it if I want, but I'll give it a 3 out of 5 overall and a 4 for the effort. It's an IA album, it has NOTHING to do with JT, and while I do like a few songs - I'm just not that impressed by the idea of TAAB2 - how it came about, the sound, the cameras in the studio - even IA didn't like that - then why allow it? He has NEVER been 'convinced' to make a new album before and I think it comes across in that way.
After sitting and listening to TAAB2 then going to TAAB, the differences between the two for myself are glaring - lost on TAAB2 is the whimsy of the whole story, not that I expected it to sound like it but there is a total disconnect for me. I just keep asking, "why do it like this?" Some good lyrics but most of the instrumentation doesn't work for me. He's done better. This one does not 'challenge' my ear in any way. Forty Years of buying every album fresh off the press - until now. Enjoy.

I don't know why I didn't do that in the first place I've used play.com since the record shop in town closed 5-6 years ago and haven't had a problem yet. They're always on time and update you if there's a delay, not of their making. In fact in a couple of instances they've delivered ahead of a release date by 1-2 days. They're good for books, cdr's, minidiscs, computer cables etc. I'd certainly recommend play.com over most of the others.
