Like the Christmas album, sometimes, this year not so much. This one seems to be fading like Rupi's Dance for me. Here's to Tull, CHEERS! Do I have to tell you, tell you once again?

RI: Dump another Christmas Song and add Heavy Water and Undressed to Kill (very underrated). CR: Dump Demons, Disease, Tall Thin Girl and add Roll Yer own RTB: All songs are worthy...great album DC: Dump Spiral, HBN and add Wicked Windows (great) and to a lesser degree Far Alaska (good) SLOB: Agree RD: Dump Week of Moments and add Eurology (great) and Two Short Planks (Very Good)

yeah, i forgot...Alaska is not far enough for that lame song....agree on keeping RTB end to end...didn't like Spiral at first but like it now...Tall thin girl is interesting as a fat man rewrite ( and water carrier...the re-re-write).

When I don't choose a Tull song it is always because of the vocal delivery. All rejected songs would make great instrumentals for the most part.

'Crest' is the last great Tull album for me,real shock after the lame UW. Few decent tracks since Beside myself,Ears of tin,Rock Island,Kissing willie,Rocks on road, but nothing as good as Farm on the Freeway.

Part of the machine was one of the highlights of the 1988 20 year tour...the other big deal was the live debut of Cheap day return and an ordinary, in retrospect, mother goose...which has been played a trillion times since...since about 1999 very nicely.

My two-word summaries for the post-1987 albums would be:
- Rock Island: curate's egg - RANK 2 - Catfish Rising: uninspired, substandard - RANK 5 - Roots to Branches: intriguing, bold - RANK 4 - Dot Com: fresh, entertaining - RANK 1 - Christmas album: surprisingly successful... - RANK 3

I like all of Tull's albums, but the only one I rarely listen to is Crest of a Knave. Not too keen on that ultra slick sound.
