Will the songs from The Solstice Bells EP be on the remix box also? Also, do we expect more unreleased studio tracks?

Happy New Year to all Forum users and humble apologies for not visiting more often.
As we wait with baited breath for the latest instalment of the Steven Wilson remixed booklet package special namely Songs from the Wood, I thought I would put together a list of my hopes for this package given that the word is there are some surprises in store...Additional to the usual work done on the album itself I really would like to see the videos of The Whistler and Moths included as well as the Sight and Sound Hippodrome gig of course and the cartoon version of Ring out Solstice Bells. Any previously unheard or released studio tracks would also be very welcome of course as would the short film of Tull on the road in the USA made around this time.
By 1977, the amount of live/ television footage was starting to grow rapidly so maybe 2 booklets with extra dvds would be more appropriate but then that would be a [sweet]dream..oh shucks !!!
Cheers..Patrick

Cheers..Patrick Well the AND fanzine has said that we are in for nice surprises and a "wealthy of extras" if I remember right. Moths is from HH so I would leavw that out. We will get more live stuff mixed by Jakko J which won't be the London Hippodrome according to the man himself. I bet for the Landover 76 gig.

Yes, and I have asked you in that thread if you remembered the cameras on stage or the concert being multitracked. I'm sorry, I must have missed your question. No, I don't remember cameras on stage at all. Doesn't mean they weren't there though and I wasn't close enough to the board to see anything being recorded. If I ever miss something directed to me, it's that I'm doing this on my phone and it's easy to get a bit lost sometimes. The forum is way easier on computer, but I'm usually on the phone here and my music PC isn't hooked to the Internet by choice. (Wife tends to use the laptop most of the time, hence phone for me).

Yes, and I have asked you in that thread if you remembered the cameras on stage or the concert being multitracked. Now answered above, as you know, but finally regarding the Capital Centre, the implosion. The end of an era.

The common boot from that era, 'Sackful of trousersnakes' was pretty good quality. I wonder if that is available for fluffing and release? My dream for extras: Alternate, extended, infinite versions of 'Velvet Green'.

Jakko J has posted a picture of his work on the live show said to accompain the forthcoming SFTW remix. It is not the sight and sound show, so get ready for an unreleased 1977 show on audio AND video 😊

I looked at the picture and the date on the sheet was 6/28/77 and I looked up their tour itinerary and there was no show listed for that date.

This picture? It might be something from '77, but it's nothing to do with Tull, far as the info presented can tell. Producer(s) credited as "Glimmer Twins" makes one think of the Stones, of course, and the engineers credited "Rob F, Dan B, Al S" doesn't add up to anything Tullian. Nor does a track called 'Don't Apologize" [sic]. It's possible the other pic, the one showing John Glascock and Barrie Barlow on Jakko's monitor, could be for extras on the Songs From The Wood set, but if so, I'm assuming the release date is going to be later in the year than Feb, which would be the actual 40th Anniversary month. I'm assuming it isn't coming out in Feb. It makes sense, given that there is the Tull string quartet album coming out in March and no-one would want one release to tread on the (Jethro) toes of the other. Then again, the image on Jakko's monitor could be for a Heavy Horses extra for which work has only just begun… but I'm sure someone else could identify which gig/year that freeze-framed shot could be… ?

Can't offer much more than what has already been said but John did play an unusual bass for part of the time he was with Tull which seemed to be an Ernie Ball Musicman Stingray bass - maybe it's a red herring (off sorts) but it might help the discussion ?

Sorry, I should have added this photo, from Jakko's FB page: Yes, JG's bass looks like the one in Jakko's photo. This is definitely a Tull live gig! Whether this is from the SFTW tour or HH, I leave to more steely-eyed Tullmen than myself. But the photo I posted up earlier is almost certainly nothing to do with this, or Tull, given the available data. It's simply another thing from 1977.

John definitely played the Stingray bass in 1979 as witness this screen grab from a youtube from that year but the stage costume is certainly different. www.youtube.com/watch?v=NegXrA7uNa8

I shall take your word for it. In which case, this may not be for the SFTW box set. It'd be leaving it pretty late for Jakko to be working on the SFTW set now, assuming it gets a release date this quarter (which admittedly is growing less likely by the day)…

Photographic evidence that I know of makes it seem he played a Fender bass before the Stingray. Whatever the date/tour it's sure gonna be interesting viewing as and when the dvd is released

I've seen a photo of John playing that bass dated 3 June 1977, the show in Brussels. Maybe he was also playing it on the US leg of the 77 tour, March-April.
