Hi Everyone - love this forum, but this is my first time writing in. I have been watching the 40th Birthday Aqualung Anniversary piece on KPFA.org. It was downloaded from the JT Forum. There is an awesome Tull instrumental piece of music at the beginning. Does anyone know the name of it, what it's from or whether it's recorded anywhere??? I love it!! I'm thinking it's the opener of a concert. Thanks. Tull lover for many years - Ms. LibraMoon

We started with 'Strange Avenues', from Rock island...a fairly long instrumental before Ian starts singing after maybe 4 or 5 minutes....a truly worthy song in any Tullfest but chosen that night for the lyric that references the 'album cover from 1971'.

'Strange Avenues' is something else. I love the cinematic instrumental introduction and build-up. Sublime guitar from Barre - and Bernie (hi, btw, hope all is good! , re 'Aqualung' being referenced, I think there may also be an intentional musical reference from Barre to 'Too Old To Rock'n'Roll, Too Young To Die' just after Ian sings, "And here am I". Libramoon, I think this song was indeed the opener for the 'Rock Island' tour. Correct me someone if I'm wrong. Can't recall, I never saw any shows from that tour. I've heard the Rock Island shows were amazing.
