With Billy Joel's 3 concerts dates at Shea only days away, my local paper did an article on it. Although it's nice to see Tull amongst their 10 best shows, it's too bad they did not delve a bit deeper into the details such as the Tullavision screens. If any of you were lucky enough to be there perhaps you could comment on the air traffic noise. The article states that was a problem, but the Tullavision video offers no evidence to support their claim. www.northjersey.com/betterliving/music/10bestsheaconcerts.htmlI must add that the newspaper article did not offer any other source of info into the events as the website does. And congrats to Andrew from Tull press for the link.

I will say that I enjoyed Trower and one of the Winter brothers as a warm up act. Andy does a hell of a job collecting this info and posting it so if anyone comes across some Tull in print email him and see if he can use it. Mike

The lowdown: The stage was far removed from most audience members, according to Signs magazine, and the music was drowned out by flights from LaGuardia. "The concert's promoters bit off more than they could chew in battling with Shea's logistics," Toby Goldstein wrote in the Aug. 14, 1976 issue of Signs. Blimey, that doesn't sound like a top ten best gig from that write up!

It does seem like a strange place to hold a concert. But then again, the US Open (tennis), is in that same vicinity as well, and we all know how the tennis folks feel about noise.

I'll take todays Tull in a nice little theatre with a decent seat, good sound and a pee break in the middle over struggling to hear half a mile back in an enormodome next an airport and a load of shouting herberts anyday....I must be getting old!
