hey bunkerfan i ordered a couple of tickets for the TAAB show newcastle yesterday too, by phone and they hit me with an extra £7.75!!!!!! It just shows the difference between The City Hall and The Sage. I ordered my tickets online for The Sage concert, picked the seats I wanted, paid by debit card and I wasn't charged any booking fee at all and they even posted them out to me free of charge. That's what I call service. I hope someone form the booking office at The City Hall reads this and hangs there head in shame.

My daughter will go personally to buy my ticket for the Concert at Oxford in Mai. I am so expectant about it. To perform a piece of music like " Thick as a Brick"is not easy, i think. I really hope that the current band will not find it difficult. M.

Yes, i learned that your beautiful town is a little expensive to live , but, together with 5 suitcases, a computer, the dog, my daughter found the way to carry up in my wife 's oversize car, A BICYCLE, too !!!, when we did the trip from Italy to U.K, two weeks ago. So she will be able to go and look for my ticket ( i hope). :)M.

There are smaller towns around here that are cheaper but not so beautiful Having said that it's a nice place for eating out and park and bus ride system they have is cheaper if your going there for the day.

I'm a bit miffed (to say the least) after being told when I went to The City Hall, Newcastle in person to buy what I was told were "the best seats available", only to find out today that much better seats are on sale now. I'll never trust the box office again.

I would guess so,who else is there? Martin has said he has no part to play in the tour. I honestly think Martin is the heart of JT,yes Ian is the genius but without Martin its kind of hollow. I remember watching the 25 years of JT DVD when Martin stated he was only excited about what is happening 'now',he said the past nostalgia was important but the future was where its at. Wonder if that affected his decision not ot do TAAB 2012. maybe or maybe something more mundane? I admit I'm moving to the "glad to see TAAB been given an airing even although Martin's not there" side now as it's better to have it than not. Still think though that Martin should give a fuller explanation or maybe they're all playing games with us.... "You won't find it easy now, it's only fair. He was willing to give to you, you didn't care. You're waiting for more but you've already had your share..." ; I'm an Tull fan from the early days, but only have seen them once or twice the last 20 years, stopped seeing them after heavy horses. When did Martin Barre stop playing with Tull?

Martin has never stopped playing in Tull, its been more a case of the Ian Anderson Band slowly taking over with Florian Opahle being the favoured guitarist in the IA Band. Welcome along to the Forum and I hope you have a good time looking through all the posts and images we have here.MD

it was always a dream to see Tull do this album, i guess I'm in agreement I'm not too impressed with that TAAB version from Rio that was posted, but can't expect Ian's voice to be anything like the old days. At least they will really play the album " in entirety" unlike on the 73 tour where they really did not play a big part of Side2 and filled it in with drums, flute solo, etc. If anyone knows a show from back then where they really do the entire album, I'd love to hear it.

I think it's safe to say that even if the 'Ian Anderson 'band' says it will be played in it's 'entirety', will it be? Some will expect that to mean 'literally' with all the drive of the original, and it's complete musical passages or sections/parts. I'll be a 'monkey's uncle' if it is, remember, it's 42 minutes long, give or take, so if it happens to be this 'grand production' be happily surprised. Remember, this ISN'T a Jethro Tull concert. IA is the only JT member left - I'm sure everyone else will be doing the best they can to make it 'sound' like JT.

Too cold for my bicycle ride to work today so listened to TAAB inn the car with thoughts of upcoming performance...this is not a big electric guitar album...Ian's musical co-stars on brick are clearly John Evans...whose organ is the backbone of the song and Barriemore Barlow who plays 'lead' drums throughout the piece. I trust John O'Hare but I'm not so sure about the latest solo band drummer...just cuz I haven't seen him live yet. I thought Mondesir was great and I'm sure Doane or James could somehow do something to combine Barrie's unique and probably inimitable style with whatever updated timekeeping Ian requires for TAAB 2012....but can the new guy do it ?...despite admirable last name, I have my doubts. I think Barrie Barlow is more indispensible to a good brick than Martin Barre.

I think Barrie Barlow is more indispensible to a good brick than Martin Barre. I think all that's a bit of a moot point Bernie because this is Ian Anderson we're talking about. Like Ellington he will find thru each of the current players skills the way they can best give voice to TAAB as seen and played thru the eyes of people alive in 2012. He will not be looking to re create TAAB circa 1972. I would say there are good odds in this order on the appearances of all the following. 1. Jeffrey with his recitation at at least one show. It will have to be altered a bit as the names of the players are referenced, or at least those of Ian, I myself will now be David His self I spose) and John. But the current keyboard players name still is John so no problem there. And of course "young Gerald Bostock" and his poem. 2 Both the Non Rabbit and scuba man and telephone, maybe a replica of John's urinal 3 Barriemore Barlow at at least one show, though possibly not as a playing member. 4 I would never count on this but I would not be at all surprised if Ian has asked John Evan to make an appearance, as I believe he also was twice offered his old job back. 5 A very decent chance of the entire band that recorded the entire record at at least one of the performances. I believe this Martin/Ian online soap opera is precisely that, all but nothing to it. Their mutual respect/love will continue unabated, the likelihood of their playing again together I would mark as near certain, God willing.

The 72 'Origonal' studio Brick and the 'Burstin out' live 78 'edited' Brick are very different beasts. Personally i find the 78 version much better and would have loved to hear the whole piece played at this time when Tull were unquestionably at their prime.
Barres guitar on Bursting Out is stunning, this tone cant be imitated i.m.o.
Is Ian gonna try to replicate the origonal version with more laid back guitar (which means no shredding from F.O.) and more emphasis on the keyboard. Or is he gonna try the more hard edged lively version circa 78 in which Barres tone will be sadly missed is the question.
Barries drumming is top class and i have a sneaky feeling that Barrie will appear on this tour. John Evan would have been something else also,O'Hara is fine player but no cigar compared to Evans.
Would have loved to have seen Barre,Barlow,Evans perform this piece 2012,that would be special!!!!

true...i was listening to the original album version before I posted about Evans and Barlow being the co-stars....live versions feature much more prominent electric guitar.

hey guys listen up Mulled this one over tonight Ian bury the hatchett with Barre, hes too valuable to fall out with,GENIUS Guitar player. The reason i picked up the guitar back in 79 purely Barre,Rory,Bill Nelson (top 3 still). Get Barrie back on the Mighty Ludwigs powerhouse drummer, what about Glenn (still active) and Andy Giddings on the keys(best since Evans i.m.o.) Id give my right arm to see this lineup ,lifes too short to pess about. This is possible!!!! One very passionate Tull fan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

That WOULD be great.......TAAB needs BB and MB ! Giddings would be great since it is unrealistic to dream of John Evans return to music

Following the high demand, another concert was scheduled the day after. At the concerts, Ian Anderson and his band mates will play the album Thick As A Brick, which hasn’t been performed in its entirety since released in 1972, visir.is reports. The audience will also be able to enjoy part of the sequel, Thick As A Brick 2, which is in the making, as recently announced. According to midi.is, the show will feature a more theatrical production with video and additional musicians. Jethro Tull last performed in Iceland in 2009 when tickets sold out in less than a day. Rock Edition was fortunate enough to get to speak with Ian Anderson about the new album and accompanying tour. Read on to find out more. www.rockedition.com/interviews/artist-interviews/interview-with-ian-anderson-of-jethro-tull/When will the tours be? We start in the middle of April in the UK; there are a whole bunch of tour dates that are currently up on JethroTull.com. As for the US tour dates, I know what they are! [laughs] I know where I'm going to be. It's been pretty much set in stone for a while, but there's been a few little tweaks and turns, and we're just getting close to that point where we will be putting the tickets on sale for two American tours that take place between mid-September and mid-November.
