That is a superb advert for a truly great album! She is lovely. I wonder what became of her?

The lady in question is called Jane Colthorpe. There is an interview with her in the Passion Play Box set that is covered in a couple of pages. She saw an advert in her dance centre when she was 19, auditioned and got the job. Her contract stated that she would get 2 days filming and up to 12 days rehearsals at £25 a day. She later worked with the dance group Love Machine, appearing on the Benny Hill show, danced with Hot Gossip, danced on a film called "Can't stop the music" with the Village People and on Monty Pythons "Meaning of life". She also worked on Starlight Express. The article then goes on to say she teaches dancing and still dances.

I recently spent a few days in Southport in the North West of England. This is near to Lytham, St Annes and Blackpool which is where Ian Anderson spent some of his childhood. I was in a small cafe there that also sold tea towels there with Yorkshire phrases on it ("Ee by gum" & the like). Not sure why it was being sold in Lancashire.
One of the phrases on this tea towel was "Well I'll go the foot of our stairs." which also appears in the lyrics of "Passion Play". I bought this album in 1973 (so almost 50 years ago) but I have never heard that phrase used anywhere in the UK. Apparently it is used in the North of England to express surprise at something or it has been suggested that it may refer to "going to hell".
Just wondered if anyone else has heard the term used (apart from on tea towels or on Passion Play)

I love the phrase....and the music that accompanies it on the album. I knew of the phrase at the time of the album, maybe heard it on the soap opera "Coronation Street" which is from "oop north" , it does ring a bell. I love the darkness of the opening sequence of the album, a contrast from Thick as a Brick. The heartbeat at the beginning was genius to my ears. Some amazing instrumental passages on the album, and Ian's vocal was superb. Love it.

I have a copy of 'A Passion Play' deluxe version, but for some reason did not read the interview in the booklet. I will give it a read. She sounds a very talented lady!

What a strange outfit the lady in the "Christmas in Heaven" video is wearing when she is bumped by the large bell (around 48 seconds in the clip). Surely people never wore that stuff to perform concerts?
Strange also that Monty Python had the ladies look like they were appearing topless in the 80's when Jethro Tull had done similar with Pan's People in the 70's.

Strange indeed but the python piece was taking the p155 out of those shows and the pretend topless Pans People was in answer to cod pieces perhaps ?

The reception of "A Passion Play" Hello infidels… LINK on the day of Christ's passion, remember the smear campaign in the press that destroyed this masterpiece: " A Passion Play ". The same category that today drools over albums that are all the same where Anderson recites the rosary instead of singing. Listen to the records with your own ears, and not with those of the "music critics" who are 90xcento failed musicians! Wazza
