Wow. What to say about "Bear." To those outside the world of the Grateful Dead, doubtless u have seen those "dancing bears" which were in tribute to this guy, or the iconic "skull and lightning bolt", designed by Owsley. (With 13 points don...chaknow), and of course the namecheck on the Dead album title "Bears Choice". Also a man who dosed the Haight Ashbury, the Beatles, the Grateful Dead as well as being one of their early financiers and sound advisers. I know many have referred to him as an alchemist, also one of the most wanted fugitives of the sixties if memory serves. I recall speaking to him briefly in the early nineties after having been told the guy over there working the Greenpeace booth at a Dead show was Augustus Stanley Owsley, must have been about 60 then, looked at least 20 years younger. For Bear, may the four winds blow u safely home, we love u www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1igVj3w8KEwww.youtube.com/watch?v=wtrH7l_ygcA

A tip of the hat to Alice d. Millionaire....undoubtably a stone, cold genius....for sure a difficult guy, as most genius are....admiration, first and foremost but then mixed and confused feelings far too complex for a few paragraphs.........a far more important individual in real history than many could know or imagine.

Hey T -
How have you been my friend? Thank you for bringing this news item to my attention. While I sadly did not know much about the man, you could still say I knew him well in +/-1974. As a high school student, I learned my primary colors as on Sesame Street---Purple Haze, Orange Sunshine, and White Owlsley (from Berkeley). And I truly wish I knew where to get it (or any relative) again, because I would like to have some for when I am dying. I'm so uncool that I have never been to any Dead-related event. Perhaps I should.
- Kevin
